Top tier resort with incredibly helpful staff. Attended a conference there and it was perfect. Highly recommend for families or just yourself.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Construction starting at 7am every morning, what a ridiculous decision that doesn’t take into account your guests whatsoever. Everyday this week I’ve woken up as a result of loud drilling noises, front desk was not helpful whatsoever. Terrible service, will never be back. Only positive was the friendliness of those who served our conference and the ladies at the 24hour cafe. Stay away from this resort.

I got married here and celebrated my husband’s birthday and both times we had a nice time. A few mishaps at the wedding but they made up for it. The resort is beautiful, the food is delicious and customer service is top tier.

Beautiful getaway

We were woken every morning and all day by power tools, hammering, banging, and loud taking right across the hall, mistaken room calls and door knock by staff that had the wrong room. The spa does not enforce "Quiet Zones. Men and women in the men's and women's solariums and coed rest zones were talking very loudly, talking on their cell phones, women were taking "selfies" in the women's solarium while other invitees were in towels or nude. The men and women’s locker-room fixtures were falling off and not cared for. The quality of the food provided through room-service was below adequate. Our visit was far sub-par, and essentially ruined.

Beautiful place to visit

Spent a solo weekend here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel staff are especially kind (had 5 reception associates interactions) and all were very hospitable. There is a shuttle that can take you offsite to nearby areas of dining and shopping so you can safely leave your car in the resort. The resort is so large I didn’t even get to go through all of the levels and restaurants. I did spend time at their spa and it is ranked one of the top 5 in the US so will be coming back for the luxury again! Beautiful hill country views and very safe and quiet area. It was also low season in January as I heard it does get busier starting mid Feb to September. Totally worth the splurge!

We stayed for 7 days for a business event. The food was terrible, multiple people had to share rooms, and the staff was not helpful at all in rectifying the situation. On top of that, we got charged $140 for a valet parking when we did not even have a car at the resort. I've currently been on hold for 25 minutes trying to get the charges reversed. Won't be coming back any time soon.

It was a great get away spot. Perfect location to see fireworks from Six Flags. Only draw back was the hotel was under construction during a busy season. We went right after Christmas and construction looked like it had been already on going. But it wasn’t an overwhelming amount so you can still enjoy most of the resort. Minus one of the major pools. The adult pool was open and we were able to enjoy that. Food was also amazing in the restaurant.

A year ago this place was so nice, but the spa has really gone downhill. We had a couples massage and added extra time to hang out with champagne, a bubble bath, and charcuterie board. The first complaint was that the bath was freezing, the charcuterie board was smelly (like the pickle smell overpowered everything in a 10 foot radius), and there was mold all over the ceiling of the bathroom. I felt so gross being there. Even the toilet sprayed out water. I couldn't even enjoy our anniversary after paying over $1000 for an experience that shouldn't have cost that much. It ruined the rest of the day for my husband because we felt cheated out of a good experience after planning out a nice time to ourselves child-free.

Best resort in San Antonio I've ever stayed at. Has a full scale gym, on site restaurant, a 24hr cafe and multiple pools. So many sitting areas inside and outside with fire places. The elevator is pretty fast. There's many pros to staying here but my biggest pro about staying here is it's so close to the cantera shopping center and it's a secluded secure gated area you don't have to feel worried about parking. They have a shuttle that will take you to the shopping center and to fiesta Texas. I'm sure I'm leaving out plenty of pros but as far as cons go. I'd say do valet parking instead of self parking because it's a long walk to the main entrance if you do self parking. That's my only con but it's not that big of a deal to me as I like getting my walk in.

Don't do it. We failed to google search reviews before booking our stay, and we regret this choice. I've since read some, and see they told the last girl, "thanks for letting us know so we can improve" which encompases their attitude toward our experience. Needless to say, they did not improve for the next guests... My husband and I wanted to take a trip to enjoy the day spa, which was lackluster, but it's not the biggest issue. (More on that later.) At no point during the booking process were we informed about construction on the property, from 8am to 5pm. And, by 8am, I mean 7:50am. We'd considered booking direct with the hotel (ultimately, we booked through Delta), and at no point during those calls were we told that the hotel was under construction. We were not informed upon check-in. We found out as a delightful suprise, at 7:50am as saws and hammers sang a sweet song of futility directly above our heads. When I called reception, Rebecca seemed well-trained on the response, and mentioned that we should have been informed upon check-in. We weren't. She offered a $40 resort fee removal. Woefully insiffucient. I requested a breakfast credit, which they granted, which still wasn't enough, and it's really not up to the guest to develop solutions. The only resolution for waking us up 2 hours early on a vacation, giving me a migrane, and causing us to want to leave immediately, is a refund. That's the only way we could possibly leave and feel like returning is a possiibilty, in the future when construction completes. They're fighting the refund request, tooth and nail. The spa: Staff are very friendly. Check-in staff at the hotel are also friendly. However, if you're coming for a true sauna (meaning it's properly hot), and a relaxing (quiet) experience, it's hit or miss. Here are some things about the sauna that you may like to know. We paid a discounted rate of $50/pp and we felt like we got that much value, so we were fine leaving this alone, as a solo issue: - The sauna/steam/warm jazucci are not co-ed. Which, we suspected, so we asked the hotel before making our reservation. We were told they're co-ed...not a deal breaker, but this was a deciding factor in choosing La Cantera over another spa with similar ammenities downtown - The sauna isn't very hot...if you want a proper sauna experience, you'll be disappointed, unless you happen to be there on a day in which people don't leave the door open. This isn't usually under the staff's control, but we did see a waitress hold the door open while asking if anyone wanted to take an order. Leaving a sauna door open for longer than it takes to walk inside and close the door takes about an hour to correct, if the door stays shut. Such a bummer. The don't increase heat up to 180F by request - The "quiet zone" signs are ignored, which is somewhat common in the States, but the staff makes zero effort to remind people that this is a quiet space. Outside is for chatter, inside is for quiet bliss - The "no device" rule isn't inforced. I personally don't mind if people use their phones *respectfully* or sneak a totally isolated selfie (still bad mannered), but two girls were very loudly and impolitely engaging in a photoshoot in common spaces where the phone isn't permitted. Several staff members saw this, and failed to correct the behavior for the sake and comfort of the other guests. Several guests were visably bothered. My husband says that the men's area was quiet and such, but that the sauna had the same issue. The spa disturbances were touch and go...I went outside to hang with my husband, for 30 minutes while the first loud group did their thing and moved on, and experienced about 30 minutes of quiet before the photo shoot girlies moved in. They were LOUD (and swearing and being genearlly disruptive) and I gave up. We went to a nearby place for thai massage just to make sure we'd had some kind of relaxing experience...but of course we had no idea just what delights the morning would bring. We felt like we didn't matter beyond payment.

It's not worth the price very outdated. We had hiding fees in our charges

Property is beautiful. Great location. Close to a fantastic outdoor mall, Top Golf, and Chicken and Pickle. Exceptional staff and facilities. Loved how they always ensured we had adequate supply of bottled waters. Loved Henrietta’s for coffee and light breakfast or lunch. Highly recommend!

We truly enjoyed our stay here. It was my youngest son's and my birthday trip. For the past 6 years we've spent it on the Riverwalk and after staying at primarily most of the hotels there we wanted to try something new. We're so glad we did. The rooms are large and spacious and it'such more serene and cozy than the Riverwalk. The hotel staff were all very nice and accommodating. Especially to my child with Celiac's Disease. They made a very special menu for him and everything was so delicious and he was so happy (which is most important to us)! We stayed at the Villas which it made it even more relaxing and enjoyable while in our room. We ate IRD everyday we were there. It was really nice having that convenience as well. Every meal was hot and delicious! We enjoyed the cart which allowed us easy and quick access to the main hotel amenities. The 24 hr Market was amazing! I had frozen and hot coffee drinks and all were superb. The staff at Henriettas were exceptionally nice. My boys enjoyed the gameroom as well as the heated pool. The Christmas decorations were so cozy and inviting. We definitely will be returning and definitely considering making this our new Birthday and Christmas getaway spot.

Desperately needs new management. Everything from our wrong room at check-in, to false room charges, to general lack of experience and ability to help at the front desk.||Our 2 days at this hotel was spent arguing with the front desk because they’re incompetent.

False advertisement for a NYE party. Was called only a week before NYE to tell us it was cancelled so could not make other arrangements. Had a low class dinner. Bait and switch techniques used on their advertisements. Manager was unavailable during dinner and did not communicate with restaurant.

Great location with perfect view , you can see sunrise and sunset in All elevation, it's very secured and quite place for long vacation and relaxing, swimming pool was excellent with heights location to watch cliff and valley, it was some construction around hotels when we were there,

Great place. I hate being taken advantage of by parking fees and high resort fees. I won't come back

Here for a tennis tournament. Booked a room months in advance next to the tennis court. The net is broken and the court is covered black mold, which happens when courts aren’t cared for. The e lines are also covered with tape which makes it a slipping hazard. Main pool and hot tub is closed. Last year we used this a lot. Food was good, but construction was loud and vibrated our rom forcing us to leave from 9-5. Had there been a disclosure about the condition of the facilities and the construction, we would have made another decision. We paid full price with no refunds as an option. Very poor value for us for this 7 day stay.

This place is heaven on Earth. Great pools, friendly staff, and beautiful views ! The main thing to let you know is that the road quality getting there Interstate-10 etc was not the best. ||Once you get through the gates of La Cantera tho think of Shangri-La.....wonderful staff, beautiful spaces, and great views...also the pools are amazing. Our only regret was wanting to stay a bit longer. Go to La Cantera !

This resort has deteriorated so much since our last stay. Manager Brandon is passive aggressive and throws the blame on the guest. He also has a quick prepared answer for any concerns. This shows extreme lack of empathy, and poor management skills. Such a shame for a beautiful resort that used to be our favorite retreat.
