After reading a few of the reviews that commented on the place being old, broken tiles, etc, I had a few concerns. Yesterday, Feb 2, 2025 was my first time at Lake Steam Baths. I was reminded of when I checked into the Queen Mary cruise ship hotel about 15 years ago and a departing lady was loudly complaining that "this place is OLD." What a surprise for her! Huh? Lake Steam Baths is historic, old, it exudes wonderful patina, it is clean, the staff is warm & friendly. I loved my 4 hours there & will be back. Highly recommend. Sergio & Jesus were excellent for my scrub & massage.

Old school baths. Nakedness, open showers, nice sauna and steam rooms. Hot tub and cold plunge. Lockers, bring your own lock. No frills. Very liberating 😉 Had a great time during ladies only visit with a friend. We'll be back! 🛀 😍

I visited Lake Steam Sauna in Denver and had an extremely unpleasant experience. A significant portion of the visitors seemed to be gay men, which wouldn't bother me if the behavior wasn't so intrusive. While in the hot tub, a man attempted to grab my leg, pretending it was accidental. In the Finnish sauna, I witnessed inappropriate behavior—one man was performing a sexual act on another. This is completely unacceptable in a public space. Additionally, the facility was quite dirty, which added to the discomfort. I’ve been to Russian banyas and Finnish saunas, Turkish steam saunas and different Scandinavian saunas, and I enjoy those experiences greatly. However, this place is far from what a proper sauna experience should be. If you’re looking for a genuine sauna or steam bath experience, I’d recommend steering clear of this place. Upd. after owner reply 12/22/24: Regarding your accusation that I was "trying to create a situation," this is entirely false and unprofessional. I visited your sauna expecting a relaxing and respectful environment, only to encounter inappropriate behavior that was neither addressed nor prevented by your staff. Allowing or turning a blind eye to cruising behavior in your sauna is unacceptable and should be actively prevented. I originally considered visiting your facility with my son, and I’m grateful I didn’t. Your claim of being a "family place," is far from reality. In practice, the atmosphere was dominated by inappropriate behavior from a number of gay men, making it feel more like a gathering spot for such activities rather than a proper sauna. As for cleanliness, the state of the facility was disappointing. The carpet was visibly dirty, but the most obvious evidence of neglect was the thick layer of dust on the lockers—clearly untouched for who knows how long. This level of uncleanliness is unacceptable in any setting, let alone a sauna where hygiene should be paramount. Instead of deflecting criticism, perhaps you should focus on enforcing policies to ensure your guests feel safe and comfortable. Acknowledging issues and improving would go a long way in addressing concerns rather than dismissing them outright.

I wrote a bad review after my massage appt was double booked. Sky responded quickly and offered me a free pass. This was generous and shows he really cares about his customers. I can't figure out how to remove the bad review so am submitting another review to say I loved my time at the bath and my massage with Tamar. Thanks to Sky for responding and resolving the issue.

I've been coming here for a long time and have always had a great experience until now. I got charged "the new rate" even though online it said it's $30 to enter. There is no signage posted anywhere at the facility or online explaining that prices went up on Jan. 1st. The solution offered was to be charged the "old rate" next time. I arrived around 7:45 and was at the facility for about 25 minutes. Within about 10 minutes the steam room door got flung open by the guy working up front who said it was closed for the rest of the night with no explanation. I went into the ridiculously hot sauna for a few minutes before getting overheated and having to take a break. After sitting on a bench in the shower area for a few minutes the same guy from up front walked by and said he'd close the hot tub for the rest of the night. I've never seen or heard of this happening in the multiple years I've been coming here and it'll definitely make me think twice next time I want to go

Booked a massage online with Chad followed by a body scrub with Sergio. I had never been to this facility before so it was a welcome surprise to find a well equipped sauna, hot tub, shower facilities and lounging area. Shout out to (Sky?) for helping me feel welcome to this new place. The facilities seem a little dated, but in a strange charming way. Everything was clean and functional which is all that really matters to me. I look forward to my next visit.

Conflicted because I have a friend that works there that is phenomenal but others I'm less than I pressed. Had two online bookings just needed one and I arrive to find zero bookings. They tell me can see me for a shorter duration of a service but it was rushed I will not be see eeking treatment services there again. Maybe see if still go to the steams but I am not impressed by the staff at large encountered.

I booked a massage online for today. When I arrived, they did not have my reservation. When I produced the email confirmation, they just said sorry, 2 people must have booked at the same time. They offered to rebook but why would I drive home and back and waste another hour and a half... very poor service

Ownership has recently changed and things have gone way down hill. Prices are up and quality is down. Google says they close at 10, but that’s false. They close at 9:30. Edit: In response to the Owner: if the bath area closes 1/2 hour before closing, perhaps list that on your website so that consumers are aware.

Well worth it. Very relaxing. The sauna is huge and super hot. I’m happy they have more days open for women now and I like the clientele is all walks but comfortable and respectful. The scrubs are good. If you love bathhouse style this place is for you. My opinion one of Denver’s best kept secrets

As someone with a long-time passion for sweating it out in saunas and steam rooms around the US and the world, I feel compelled to post something about my terrific initial experience with Lake Steam a few days ago. The first part occurred before I even arrived, where I called to ask a handful of questions about how things work there, the general vibe, and anything else I needed to know. I spoke with Sky, who was nothing short of lovely. He was patient and kind and took the time to answer everything I asked in detail and added a few valuable tips of his own. Once there, I was so charmed by the whole property. In contrast to a few other negative reviewers, I found the facilities to be basic, but clean, functional, and with an endearing old-school feel: exactly what I want in a bathhouse. I loved the high-school style lockers in the locker room, the steam room with a nice spray bottle of aromatherapy eucalyptus, and lastly, the huge dry sauna complete with two ovens set in the wall where you could pull a lever to release more heat into the room (I found doing that particularly fun and charming). Also worth mentioning: they have a nice little hot tub too, which I personally am less interested in but I'm sure others enjoy, as well as a cooldown room outside of the bathing area where it's so soothing to sit in front of a fan and relax. The only thing that would've made it better would be a cold plunge, but ultimately the showers were cold enough to use as a cool-down between rounds in the heat. A quick shoutout to 1) staff member Mauricio, who walked through a few times checking in on everyone, and was sweet and good-humored, and 2) a few of the regulars there who I had fun conversations with. Worth noting that they do also provide massages and other treatments, but I didn't partake of any of those services this time. In summary: Is this a high-end spa? No. Is this a place that's sanitary where you can get some great heat and steam with access to showers, lockers, towels, and helpful staff for a very affordable $30? Yes. Come with the right expectations and enjoy :-)

I have been going to this facility for over fifteen years. This is an older facility since it was started in the mid twenties and is a local neighborhood style spa. Don’t have expectations of seeing marble walls or gilded restrooms. This is like a neighborhood bar with lots of history and character. The staff currently is the best it’s ever been who consistently are looking to make our experience great. The new owners have invested a great deal of money and effort to update the facility. Most people who come here on a regular basis are here for the quality and affordability of the treatments. No where in this town can you get a fantastic massage or body scrubs etc for these rates!! Thank you Sky, Sergio,Chad,Mauricio, and the entire staff!!!

I’ve always had a great time at Lake Steam Bath! It’s one of my go-to spots when I need to decompress. The staff is super friendly, and the facility is always clean. They recently updated a few areas, which is awesome to see for a Denver staple. I know more changes are on the way. The massages are fantastic, and the new online booking system makes it vastly easier to book. Highly recommend!

I’ve been visiting Lake Steam for over 20 years, and I adore the place. Any time I need to warm up and hydrate, I visit Lake Steam. Their hot sauna is enormous, and perfect with running water and space to lay down. It’s my hidden gem in the city, and the massages are affordable and fantástico. Don’t miss this cool self-care getaway.

My husband and I have been enjoying Lake Steam Baths for years. Recently, they have been updating the decor and facilities, including offering more spa services like waxing, facials, etc. This is an easy and laid-back place to enjoy some traditional bath culture. The massages are great and super affordable with a diverse array of styles. Sky, Mauricio, Sergio, and in fact the entire male staff are friendly, professional and have all become good friends. Highly recommended!

Nice spot to spend a few hours! I go to a similar sort of bath house in Detroit that I really enjoy so I am familiar with the general expectations of a place like lake steam. I do wish they had bigger towels and more of them available. As well as conditioner in the showers — there’s just a very harsh all-in-one liquid soap. Also, maybe some utensils available in the little dining area for people that have outside food.

Place has really come a long way, I know this place has been a fixture in Denver, but I would encourage you to stop in and check out their updates to the place. Just the right amount of change to make the place look updated without changing its purpose all together. Love the staff, they’re all so warm and personable. Great place to relax and escape for a little while.

The people that work here are amazing. The massages are some of the best deep tissue I have ever had. They keep remodeling and fixing up the place under the new owner. It is great to see they care about the spa and making improvements.
