Went to book a spa package for my wife, the couples package is called My Guy and I so I guess it's not a place for us!

I've been here a few times now. I like to come to enjoy the grounds and scenery. There are a few areas this place could really improve for the price. To start, the "lunch buffet" is... laughable. In the past there was seated lunch service with several hearty options. This has changed recently and is very underwhelming. It is more like a few snacks self-service that don't really go together. For example, greens with dressing but nothing else to add to a salad (toppings or protein), chips and guacamole, mini quiches and watermelon. The only heartier option was pepperoni pizza - not exactly what I want at a spa. They also seem to have done away with the afternoon snacks; previously they had warm cookies in the afternoon. I will say all the food tasted good, so kudos to the chef. They probably just need a better budget. LASR needs to update their website as it is inaccurate and misleading as it pertains to the cafe. Secondly and has always been an issue - the service is lacking. No one walks around the outdoor pool offering drink service. Cups were out at certain places. Upon checkout I wasn't even asked how my experience was. Also, the person that did my massage rubbed massage oil on my face after I had received a facial earlier in the day. The people I did encounter were friendly and I particularly noticed Michelle working hard all day. The treatments are fine. Not sure if I will come back if they don't improve the overall value and stop cutting corners.

Jennifer did my custom massage this week - she mentioned that she’s only been there about a week and half. She is the bomb! Truly haven’t had that nice of a massage in ages - she WORKED on me and I felt like jello by the end of it. I often hesitate spending money on spa massages because I’m often left disappointed - not with her! Highly recommend if you like deep pressure.

**Lake Austin Spa Review: Disappointing Decline in Quality** After hearing about Lake Austin Spa for over 20 years, reading glowing reviews from sources like Condé Nast, and knowing it has been ranked as one of the best spas in the world, my wife and I were excited to experience it together. Unfortunately, our recent visit left us deeply disappointed. My wife, who had visited twice before on her own, was especially surprised by the noticeable decline in quality. Upon arrival, we encountered unprofessional behavior from the front desk staff. They made snide remarks, including getting my wife’s name wrong and then jokingly saying, “Oh, sorry, that must have been the last girl you were here with.” This inappropriate comment set a negative tone for the day. While the lunch itself was delicious, the buffet selection was underwhelming for the price. There was only one hot item—mini quiches—which seemed inadequate given the cost. Another major issue was the lack of service. There was only one waitress serving both the restaurant and pool area, which often left us walking around to find her when we needed something. The spa also shows clear signs of deferred maintenance. We noticed downed tree limbs, dirty chairs, a broken outdoor shower, non-functional indoor and outdoor hot tubs, a broken sauna, damaged shower controls, filthy windows, and unkept plants in the landscaping. The facility was far below the standard one would expect from a spa of this reputation. As for my massage, I had requested a neck and foot massage, specifically informing the therapist that my neck was troubling me. Despite this, he spent 60 minutes on my feet and only 10 minutes on my neck, which left me dissatisfied. My wife asked an employee if there had been a change in ownership, and we learned the spa had been acquired by new owners a couple of years ago. It appears to be managed by a venture capital firm that seems more focused on maximizing profit than investing in the facility or its staff. The employees felt disengaged, doing the bare minimum with no proactive service. This is probably the harshest review I’ve decided to write in 7 years, but I feel it’s important to set realistic expectations for anyone considering a visit. Our experience was disappointing, and I hope the spa can restore the high standards it was once known for.

I did the hydro circuit treatment. It felt awkward putting a mud mask on me with the salon chairs nearby and people working; it would’ve been better had there at least been some kind of room divider to further divide the spaces. After you put on the mud, they also had exfoliating gloves for you to use; I didn’t use them though because they appeared to already have been used. I thought that was pretty gross so I just couldn’t get myself to use them. I would have liked it better if they could have disposable gloves or something else. Once you’ve washed off the mud, you then walk outside to the rainfall shower. They have a mat or two in place as you go from the Turkish bath to the rainfall showers, and that was fine. It just kind of felt like it was thrown together without thought and it doesn’t look nice. Part of the thing we pay for when going to places such as these, is the ambiance, so I felt that was lacking. The transition from the rainfall and cold plunge was great. They should have some moisturizer or body oil afterwards though, the mud mask left my skin feeling really dry. The overall circuit concept is fun and I liked that but I’d say it’s overpriced for what you get. The first robe I was given appeared to be dirty; there were some stains on it and that was pretty gross. Also, the resort is really small. I had expected it to be bigger. I was kind of bummed out that they don’t have at least a few co-ed saunas as options too. Lastly, don’t expect a nice lunch or much options when it comes to snacks. The food and services were not quite as upscale as conveyed on the website or received at similarly priced premium resort spas. I’m not sure I’d come back here again.

I bought an advertised Christmas Half Day Spa Package for my wife. She used it 4 months after the holidays and they had raised their price on the spa package? They insisted she pay the difference. It wasn't much, but the idea of buying a "spa package" at an advertised price, and not honoring a few months later was very unprofessional. Not sure I will do this again.

POC BEWARE! Initially, I thought my time was lovely at LakeHouse Spa. However, during the couples massage that my fiancé booked us, the masseuse removed my hair tie in my hair and scrubbed my scalp with oil on her hands. I am a black woman with 3c curly hair. I spent the previous day in the salon to get a semi-permanent keratin hair treatment and press. Needless to say my hair was ruined after the oil from the massage. I expressed my frustration to the staff and they seemed very unconcerned. I spoke to several (caucasian) managers and no one understood the severity of the problem. The first manager called me a liar and said that she spoke to the masseuse and they stated that never happened. Then she said they follow a routine during the massage, which has to be untrue because my fiancé didn’t even receive a scalp scrub! I suppose caucasian people will never understand the struggles that black women have with their hair. It’s NOT a simple process. It takes SEVERAL hours to do. The treatment I received only lasts for a short period and once I wash my hair it will essentially be ruined. I did this treatment as a birthday gift to myself and I did not anticipate it being removed the very next day after receiving it. I really wish this establishment had more people of color working there so someone would understand my frustration. After the treatment I received at LakeHouse Spa, I will NEVER be returning.

This place is amazing! 10/10 recommend, I got a facial and my face has never, literally never, looked better! We also got to hang out for several hours afterwards, enjoying lunch, the pool, the hot tub and the views

Honestly am shocked this place isn’t below a 3.0. No exaggeration - it was one of the worst massage experiences I’ve ever had. For the price, I could’ve gone to my local chair massage salon 10 times instead, and gotten all my knots out. I flew in for a half day package - I can’t believe I wasted $600 on two terrible massages an hour outside the city. I booked two 50 minute - one deep tissue and one regular. I had to pay extra for deep and booked it with who they said was best for deep tissue (as an athlete, this is literally the reason why I get massages). That morning, someone else comes to get me - no idea I was scheduled for deep tissue with another masseuse, and says she’ll be able to do a good job anyway. I got a mediocre Swedish massage. Given that I flew in from the other side of the country, I was very careful with who I picked to do what, and spent a lot of time on the phone with the front desk trying to understand the different spa offerings and providers. Just changing that up on customers at the last minute isn’t cool. The kicker was Michael’s massage after lunch. I knew he wouldn’t do deep either (I had given up by this point), but I told him I needed a focus on feet and scalp, since these weren’t touched during the morning massage. He proceeds to lightly do my back. I was lying there wondering when he was going to move to the parts I had asked for, when he says “alright we’re done now!” I asked about what happened, and he said he didn’t have enough time to get to the parts I had requested, because I booked a 50 minute massage - next time I need to book 80 minutes so he can get to everything. At this point I’m livid. I paid for TWO separate 50 minute massages, and not only did neither masseuse do what was asked for / paid for, they had the audacity to make me feel cheap for not paying for a third massage in the same day or a longer second massage? If a customer gives you TWO opportunities in one day, how do you screw both up? My friend had Michael for her massage in the morning and had warned me that he didn’t touch her feet after she asked for a specific focus on it. She was literally laughing after her massage at how bad it was, and I stupidly thought she just wasn’t super clear about what she wanted. So I made it abundantly clear at the start with Michael that the focus needed to be on my feet during this massage…he did not even touch my feet ONCE…because he “ran out of time.” Sounds like this guy just hates feet and maybe shouldn’t be a masseuse? Or at least not at a “high end” spa where people are paying for requesting attention to certain spots and not some cookie cutter massage of the back? In regards to the other stuff - these guys don’t even try to be pleasing. Like people say below, the water and snacks in the waiting room are third class. EVERY spa I’ve ever been to has had classy beverages and snacks except this one. The blankets people use in the waiting room aren’t swapped for the next guest (they just fold them and put them back on top). The lunch was okay, it’s nice that there’s no limit, the waitress was a sweetheart, but quality was low. I left something in my robe and they had no way of shipping it out / returning it, and claimed to have never found it anyway. The steam room was broken the day we were there. The hot tub was intermittently working at a low temp. You have to go to the front to get them to turn on the sauna if you want to use it. Overall, just too much work for what should’ve been “relaxing.” In summary, these guys are super disorganized and not in the business of giving relaxing experiences and high quality massages. It’s just a bachelorette / bridal shower location for blonde girls to gather and instagram about having gone to. Also, don’t get a package - gratuity is included so they really don’t care about your experience. Just book a la carte so that they actually try. And eating lunch off site will likely be tastier anyway.

Amazing Spa. We celebrated a friend's birthday and spent the entire day at the spa. Facials, and massages were amazing and so was the food and amenities. We are going to go back at least once a month. A must if you need to relax or get away for a day. Will not be disappointed

Great experience, very relaxing. Grounds are beautiful. Beckie was my AMAZING Matet Esthetician that worked on me for my Hydra Signature Facial. She was so professional and great! Would definitely go back to her again! Was disappointed in the scalp & foot treatment . The worker providing it did not provide a good level of service. Did not even do work on my scalp besides dump oil in my hair. So utterly disappointing. Would not go back there for that and would be sure to not get that person again for any services.

I brought my fiancé here for her 28th birthday and from the moment we arrived it was remarkable! Renne, Denis, and Paula all made it extra special. Ashley was also amazing at the spa with the massage. Truly one of the most memorable experiences we have ever had. We will be back!

My wife and I came here for a couple treatments as part of a day trip. The treatments themselves were phenomenal. I got a sports massage with Karina and the aqua myofascial release session with Monica which was incredible. Highly recommend both of them. I was disappointed in the facilities though. The men’s locker room had a dry sauna, wet sauna, and hot tub but both the hot tub and the wet sauna were out of service and I had been looking forward to using both. At no point did they tell us those were out of service, not even as we were checking in to the locker rooms. I would have definitely booked for another day when those were fixed if I had known. They did credit our facility fee after we told them we were disappointed but at the price point for this spa, I would expect full access to the amenities. This is getting pretty picky but we were also craving a smoothie or some fresh juice but they didn’t have anything like that on the menu which seemed odd for a spa. We still enjoyed our time here but had higher expectations for a spa like this.

Ok, it's been 2 weeks since I was there. The hottub in women's area wasn't working, another one outside was pretty small for the traffic of clients( beware, there might be no spot for you) , few toilets were out of service. Service is overpriced and wasn't perfect(scalp & foot treatment). They forced you to pay 23% tips( it was called service fee) , does not matter if this satisfying or not. Ok. But they charge those 23% tips for facility fee as well( fee for fee, lol)! I contacted them same day I saw an incorrect charge in my credit card, and the woman who talked to me confirmed the overcharge and promised a refund. Unfortunately, I still did not receive an itemized invoice and no refund.

The good: Beautiful grounds Friendly staff Restaurant on site/food comes with day packages The bad: At these prices it would have been nice for them to inform us that the sauna and steam room were not working, since those are part of the packages Also, I feel like it would be nice to receive a free champagne or a mimosa as most other spas (and hotels do) upon arrival. Even most nail places do this when you first enter. For a place of this caliber they might secret shop their competitors to stay on top of the excellent competition. I would still give it four stars due to the friendly staff and the grounds. I’ve had better facials and massages but I can not say that they performed poorly, just not the best that I’ve experienced. I feel like preferences in massages and facials vary widely with individuals.

The services and amenities are not what you pay for. The amenities are very small, the sauna was broken and old, ladies had to tell workers to turn on the steam room several times, bathroom was very dated. I unfortunately wouldn’t recommend this place to a friend looking for a good experience.

The staff went above and beyond for my wife and I. I had never been to a spa and they made sure I felt welcome and comfortable.

This place is so serene and peaceful! We went for a staycation for a couple of days and the resort treated us really well. The food was fresh - farm to table and so good. We went during the summer and while it was hot, the lake cooled us off with the activities they had - paddleboarding, kayaking, boating etc. Loved that the resort is also dog friendly. My dog was so spoiled the whole time and they fed her rice and chicken/steak everyday. Would definitely come back!!

We hoped for something special for our anniversary so set up an afternoon appointment. This didn't feel special. From the police tape and the storage pods in the parking area to the broken equipment in the men's locker room (fire alarm hanging by wires in the sauna, men's jet tub out of order), even the facility didn't measure up. The staff were dealing with some challenges while we were there but the way they acted made us feel awkward, uncomfortable and unwelcome. Susie and Chris did a great job with our massages and were very nice.

Went to the spa last week for a facial to celebrate my birthday. I was not notified ahead of time that there was construction going on at the spa, or I would have rescheduled the appointment. My treatment room must have been immediately next to the construction area because during the entire service I listened to hammering, drilling and pipes hitting the ground. Not to mention there was a fire alarm mid-service and my esthetician stepped out to check on things. It soured my whole experience. When I notified the front desk of my disappointing experience, they apologized and gave me a cooling leg gel (yay- who needs or wants that??!!) I contacted them regarding my experience and never heard back. Very disappointing, would avoid for that price.

Great place to recharge. Amazing food. Beautiful views.

Spent the day at the spa. I was underwhelmed by the food, the service that I got, the customer service. I would not return, not worth the price. Also, they include a 23% gratuity and they told us the service provider gets 15%. When I asked where the rest go the tip goes, they didn’t know.

Too bad there is not a 3.5 rating. The staff gets a 6, they are amazing! The room gets a 2.5 (the rooms are very small, there is only one comfortable chair to lounge, the TV is older so you're not able to connect your laptop hdmi without taking the TV off the wall, for example) and the old bathroom style (no glass walk in shower and the toilet area is very small, so small that I accidentally bumped the picture that was directly to the side of the toilet with my shoulder and it fell to the floor, for example.) The spa gets a 4 but could get less. I've been here twice in 4 months, and both times, the men's steam room was out of order. The food is fantastic, and the portions are perfect for those wanting to stay at a healthy weight. Overall, it's too pricey, massages are too expensive, and the wine is off the chart expensive for two examples. You can stay at Sandals in Jamaica cheaper per night. Alas, we will return, but only when there is a great special discount to make it worth it.

Absolutely amazing. We came for my birthday and abtually had a bumpy start. The manager and her team were so incredibly sweet and helpful and wanted to make our stay wonderful. It was an amazing day. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is just above and beyond. Thank you Lake Austin Spa!

Very disappointing experience. My friend and I booked a spa day to celebrate my birthday. We scheduled our massages at certain times, received texts confirming those times, but were both given our massages 30 minutes later than our scheduled visits. This was even after we showed the front desk employees the texts that stated the times we had booked the appointments for. My friend's deep tissue massage was awful with the LMT digging her nails into my friends skin and not delivering a deep tissue massage that was requested. The food from their cafe is mediocre at best, definitely not worth what they charge for it at all. The front desk employees told us they would take off the $35 Facility Fee for the inconvenience of the messed up timing, but my friend was still charged and she had to call them to have it removed. For the rates they charge, they can afford to hire better employees and provide a better experience.
