I was very hesitant to post this review but I just want to warn other black women about this salon. I visited in October and my hair has been breaking from the root ever since. I have thick natural hair and it’s been getting thinner ever since. My appointment was at 2 that day, and my stylist showed up both late and sick. My hair was very tangled but she was extremely rough. I sat under the steamer for an hour then brought back to get a roller set. They were put in so tight that you could see the skin pulling off of my skull. I had to adjust it myself because the stylist just left it. I sat under a hot dryer for 2+ hours getting burns on my scalp because the metal pins were directly on my scalp. All the while, my stylist was doing base braids for another Stylist in the salon and also taking other clients. Even after 2+ hours under the dryer, my hair was blowdried and flat ironed with very little protective product. I’m super upset because I spent the entire quarantine up until that point growing thick and healthy hair. Id also like to mention that I got my hair pressed at another salon earlier in 2024 and did not have this issue AT all. I can post comparisons from both salons if requested. As soon as I walked out of the salon, my hair puffed up. So after 5+ hours and $150, it was a waste. I wanted to give my hair time to see if I could recoup from the damage but I will just simply have to grow another batch or get a more serious treatment done by real professionals.

They really care about your hair here, and do a great job. The roller set before silk press helps it last longer without using heat to touch it up.

This review isn’t for the salon but more for my stylist Vivian Carter. I’m hesitant to leave this review because I was so excited to get my hair done. But after washing my hair today I feel I have to. Vivian was my stylist. I walked into my appointment with the big Afro that I normally wear. I was referred to Vivian by both my sister and mother who had fairly good previous appointments with her. The appointment was going fine until it was time to trim my hair. I hadn’t received a good trim in a while. And I would normally trim my own hair in its natural state so it was fairly uneven. Me and Vivian spoke about this and I told her I want my hair to look healthy so if she had to cut a little more off I didn’t mind. Even with that said, I was still in shock with what I received. Vivian showed me in the mirror how much she planned to cut and then turned me around facing away from the mirror so I was unable to see how much she actually cut. After the cut when she turned me back around, I was in a complete state of shock. I couldn’t tell the exact length of my hair because of the cape but I knew a lot had been cut. I froze. I didn’t know what to say and by then there’s nothing I can do, my hair the was cut had already been swept up by a different stylist. So I sat there and let her finish. She pressed and curled my hair. When she took of the cape I could tell my hair was a longish bob (I’ll include photos of my hair before and after, but in its natural state) I was trying be positive and tell myself I won’t know how much is cut until I wash my hair so don’t stress out too much. Well I washed my hair today…. And had a mini break down. The back is the longest part and barely touches the back of my neck. The front is right past my ears. I’m honestly outside my body right now. I have no clue what to do. More than anything I just want to warn other potential clients. I feel like all the hard work it took to grow my hair is down the drain. My hair is styled differently in the photos attached but either way, you can clearly see the dramatic difference. I’m just really hurt and upset that something I was so excited about ended this way.

I’m extremely disappointed in the business practices of this salon. I had an appointment booked over month. I show up to my appointment at the appointment time to be told by the owner my appointment was cancelled. At this point I had been to 3 bi weekly appointments and had not missed an appointment and had 3 more scheduled. The owner did not have any regard for my time. Instead she said she would try to “squeeze me” or put me with another stylist. I was very confused as to why she would have to squeeze me in and I’ve had an appointment for over a month. If you want a salon that values your consistent business and time this is not the place. Whomever she put in my appointment spot was clearly more important than my business and time.

I recently moved to ATL and I was researching stylist in the area, I came across Lily International and what impressed me was the fact that all the stylist have such amazing reviews so it was so hard to choose who to book with. I originally booked with one stylist but they unfortunately got sick however Vivian stepped in and was so warming and polite. She gave me the most thorough shampoo I've ever had and asked me questions about my hair and hair routine. She educated me during and when it came to a trim, she made me feel so at ease! She didn't do anything without my consent and showed me everything she was doing and let me choose what to cut off. 10/10 would recommend and I'm happy to say I found a home salon!

I had gone to lily international salon on numerous occasions, I had went this time to the same hair stylist and had brought clip ins. I had done clip ins prior however this set was highlighted blonde. I was the first client, for that hair stylist, for the day. I had no issues with my washing and roller set. It started at the roller set but it wasn’t an issue till later. While roller setting me she asked me if I wanted to do S-waves or straight. I said straight bc that’s how I usually like to style my hair, she then said usually with straight hair the highlights don’t show as much, only at the ends bc my hair would be covering it. Compared to an S-wave, I was very confused bc I had seen so many people with clip ins with straight hair and the highlight show. I than said okay I’ll think about it, while my hair dried on the roller set. She then said okay and put me under. It wasn’t until I had gone out from under the dryer the problems started. I had noticed while she straightened my hair, there was a lot of tugging and pulling and “knots”. Thinking it was weird, (I also just wanted to watch my movie) I didn’t say anything. However, when she had asked me did I buy from this hair company before; I said yes. She then proceeded to say the clips aren’t sewed in properly. I was very confused bc I had checked and they were and the girl who had sold me the clip ins checked, not only that my friend had gotten clip ins from the same girl and they had lasted her from high school to 4 years into college (to this day). When she said that I checked on my hair, there was no blonde, she had placed them on the bottom portion of my hair. I asked her than can you do the S-wave trying to salvage everything. She then told me that’s why she was pressuring me for the S-wave vs straight. She had two other clients and was halfway through my hair. I then said okay, she tried to rectify the situation by offering to curl the ends. I just said it was okay and let her finish. This was the part that was completely unprofessional, the two front parts of the clip ins were loose, she told me I could sew it when I get home. Due to the clips won’t stay once I leave. One I don’t know how to sew, two she had sewn my previous clips ins for me the other time I was there, three it defeated the whole highlight look. Once I said I’ll tell the girl who sold it to me to do it for me, she goes this isn’t from online. I tell her the girl is from Atlanta, and I can see her. So from there she was set on not doing anything. She doesn’t even get a bag for my clip ins until I asked her where my old bag was; she did do a good job on my bangs I asked for though. I then paid and gave her tip; even though that was a HORRIBLE experience and I will never go back. She did provide a service and went out of her way to do something. I then rushed to the girl who provided me with the clip ins; she was shocked by how rough she was with the clip ins, how she placed it, and how she didn’t even straighten my hair that well. My hair was poofy, the girl restraightened it over parts, the clip ins were faulty, she sewed all the clip ins, the hair was clipped and parted weirdly, she redid the whole clip in. She knew I had a special occasion and couldn’t believe how the service was provided. Thankfully my hair was fixed. I was really greatful, the girl took me in to fix my hair. She had other clients but still went out of her way to fix my hair for me. I gave the place two stars bc I had some good experiences there and I know the girl was rushing. Which was very obvious. However, at the end of the day this is customer service profession. (This was made in less than five mins sorry if it sounds iffy and not proper grammar or clarity)

I’m usually hesitant about going to new stylists, but Rachel was amazing. She was so kind and gave me one the the best silk presses I’ve ever had! Also a beautiful precise trim and made sure not to cut too much. 10/10 !!

My experience was positive from start to finish. Fefe was my stylist and she was extremely thorough. She talked me through the whole process of getting my silk process, discussed my current hair care regimen and what to do going forward. I will definitely be back soon!

I have been coming to Lily International since 2020 and will continue to be back! The hydration treatments here are a life savior! I always book with Vivian as my stylist and she has yet to disappoint me. I got my hair colored by her twice now and was really delighted with how it turned out each time. I highly recommend Lily International!

I’ve been coming to Lily’s salon for several years and Mahlet is my stylist. She does an excellent job and is always efficient. The prices are reasonable too. If I could come weekly, I would.
