It has been a very long time since I have been there. I don’t know that anything has changed. It is a very large and very clean air space. The few interactions I have had with the staff found them to be very friendly. There are two owners. One’s name is shy. I used him two or three times. He was very nice very pleasant and really wanted the customer to be happy. The taller of the two whose name I have blocked out is a nasty angry man. When he was at another salon on 2nd Ave. he did tell me he doesn’t like older women! I used him twice in his new salon. I wanted to try a keratin treatment just on the front of my hair. Instead of saying that he would rather not do it. He burned my entire forehead, and left me with some scars. Over the years they have begun to disappear. I would never go bac!. I would never recommend the salon! I would deter anyone from going there. Too many really good places in the area After this was posted, the owner responded by wondering why I waited so long to write a review. The reason – I had no intention of writing a review until I met two other women who had the same issue as I did. We decided it might be helpful for other women over 40 that might want to go there. I was offered the opportunity to come in and have a free service. I wouldn’t go back if they offered to pay me.

I have gone to a million salons but nothing beats Chris Mitchell and TLR team! I walk in looking like five-minutes-after-prom and leave looking like a fairy god mother waved her magic wand over my hair. Insider tip: splurge on the deep conditioner add-on. Your blowout will last way longer and the massage you get is well worth it!

Giuseppe is a genius! This before/after shows it! Super natural, blended with the “before”, clean & fresh! Giuseppe has such a great attention to detail, is a lovely human being, and you don’t have to spend an entire day there for such great results. (And you can practice your Italian!) Blondes can have a hard time finding the right place for consistent results. I highly recommend Giuseppe at Living Room. Everyone at the salon is lovely too.

I’ve been going to Dasha for my cuts for over two years now, and I’m never disappointed. She listens to what I want, gives me advice about what will work for me and what won’t, and takes her time to make sure each hair is perfect before I leave. The best salon I’ve been to! I’ve been a client of Dasha’s for several years. She does my highlights, Keratin and cut. She’s the best! Dasha is a pro with color, pays a great attention to detail and never rushes, plus she is the nicest person! I cannot say enough good things about Dasha and the salon in general. Shane at the front is a sweetheart and is very accommodating in scheduling appointments. Highly recommend Dasha and The Living Room.

I have been going to this salon and having Dasha cut my hair for 2+ years now. She is super sweet and does an excellent job at giving me my low maintenance trim everytime. Even though what my hair requires is “simple” simplicity can be very hard for some and she is great and my hair looks so beautiful everytime I leave. I like that the atmosphere is professional yet down to earth at the living room and everyone who works there is super friendly. Oh and ALSO - best shampoo and conditioning head massage ever… literally AMAZING every time hands down. So glad I found this place, def give them a call and book Dasha!

I went to the salon to do my blonde balayage with Giuseppe, I’m extremely happy with the outcome! So bright and well done, it makes me look so much younger!! I absolutely love this salon and have been going here for years now. They are all so friendly & accommodating. I always see Dasha for blonde highlights and a haircut. I honestly can't recommend her enough. Not only is she incredibly kind and efficient, but she is THE BEST at what she does. I've been rocking a short bob for awhile and it is not an easy cut. Dasha takes her time, triple checks the cut & somehow always delivers what seems to be the perfect chic bob. As far as highlights go, again...she is THE BEST at what she does. The highlights are always so even and natural looking. Every time I walk away with an appointment with her, I truly feel like a million dollars. If you're looking for a new place & a new stylist....GO! RUN....To The Living Room Hair Salon & ask for Dasha.

I have been going to the Living Room Hair Salon for about two years now. Dasha is absolutely phenomenal with my hair. She listens to your hair concerns and gives advice accordingly. She is great with my highlights, hair cut and Blowdries! Everyone at the Living Room is very warm and friendly. My husband goes there too for his hair. And now we have started bringing our kids here too! All the hair stylists are amazing and know what they are doing! We would highly recommend this place.

I walked into The Living Room Salon on the recommendation of a friend. I had gotten my hair colored in The Cayman Islands, where I now live, and I was NOT happy. Sitting at the front desk was Shane, who lovingly took one look at me and said, “color correction? It’s definitely…red. And stripey.” He recommended Daniela and he couldn’t have been more right. Daniela is an absolute artist. She took the correction process one step at a time and literally had her hands in my hair for the entire 4 hours I was at the salon; I have never had a more attentive stylist, let alone one as knowledgeable about color or as brilliant with color techniques, highlight placement and color correction - all while maintaining the integrity of my hair! Daniela also instinctively knew that part of my problem was the cut I had, so she finished by giving me a haircut that not only accentuated by brilliantly transformed color, but somehow made my hair seem longer! Daniela made me feel confident and good about myself again. What more could you ask for from a stylist? She is a true gem on the UES! I will no longer trust my hair to anyone but Daniela and will schedule my visits back to nyc from Grand Cayman to coincide with my need for color touch-ups.

I love this salon. Dasha is an expert with color and highlights. She worked with me to give me the warm blonde color I wanted. She also cares about the hair staying in excellent condition. I made an appointment after overhearing two women talking about getting a great blowout from Dasha at the Living Room salon. I was first greeted by Shane who makes you feel comfortable the second you arrive. I met Dasha and I explained that I have curly frizzy unmanageable hair. She gave me the best blowout. I get compliments on my hair wherever I go now! It’s healthy and looks great! She does a great job and I would highly recommend her! I’m so glad I found her!

I love Guiseppe, I found him after reading the other positive reviews and he definitely lives up to the 5 stars! He’s great, my hair always turns out exactly like I want. The color is perfect and he cuts/styles exactly like the pictures I show him. The salon’s prices are also great! I have come back to see Guiseppe multiple times this year already

The best place to get a great cut! The stylists actually listen to their clients and transformed my daughters' hair! Both of my daughters looked so stylish and the cuts were done so well! Love the decor of this place, as well... very uncluttered and clean! Thank you, Living Room!
