Beautiful resort in the foothills. Great place to get in a short hike, golf or explore the waterfall. The rooms have been recently renovated and are spacious. They have every amenity you may need. Staff are always friendly and welcome you with a bottle of water.

Lowe’s Ventana Canyon resort in Tucson, Arizona is renowned for its luxurious amenities, stunning, natural landscape, and unique features that blend into the Sonoran desert. One night just isn’t enough.

Everything went good except for one bad experience in the restaurant across from the main building, I think it is called "V Some thing". I ordered one of the steaks and broccolini. The broccolini was tough, I could barely cut it with a steak knife. I took a few bites and gave up. The steak was almost as bad it was burned on the outside, fatty, I got through about one-half of it and gave up. All-in-all a pretty disappointing experience. Like I said, though that was my only negative experience.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights with our Amex Fine Hotels perk and it was one of the best values we've experienced. The grounds were breathtaking and it really felt like a resort. We used every amenity from the spa (sauna), tennis courts, star gazing and pool. The food on site (mainly lobby and Canyon Club for breakfast) were very good for a hotel especially the pizza and sonoran benedict (which we got daily ha!). The location for hiking was perfect with a challenging trail through the canyon a block away and Sabino Canyon under ten minute drive (or free shuttle via resort!). The staff were wonderful (always asking where we were headed and then remembering us on the way back "and how was tennis??"), our room had a great view and huge bathtub, ample easy parking, really not a negative note on this stay! Thank you for making it special.

Stayed here and loved it! Such a stunning resort! Staff was super nice and rooms were clean and the resort was absolutely beautiful! Much needed rest after all the hard work we do, and this place was perfect for that. Thank you and we will be back

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, only wish it could have been longer. We will return! We found all of the staff ~ from the front desk staff to the wait staff at the Flying V Bar & Grill to be that rare combination of knowledgeable and friendly! Our room was well appointed and impeccably clean. We had a beautiful mountain and pool view from our balcony that we enjoyed very much. Our dinner at the Flying V was delicious! All together our experience was one worthy of repeating!!

A fantastic resort! Location is meticulously maintained, with a very friendly staff that understands what service really is. The grounds offer several restaurants and activities so you never really have to leave. Natural desert landscape, waterfalls and lakes provide a serene environment when outside. For the more active, there is golf, pickle ball and plenty of hiking options right outside. I would rate Loews as one of the best resorts in Arizona

Absolutely beautiful! First time staying here and at a Loews. Came across the brand when in Miami Beach and thought the hotel looked great so I was excited to see Tucson had one. What a beautiful property, the friendliest staff, and now is one of my favorite resorts in the country. The room is gorgeous, the gym is fully equipped, the pools are great and heated. We will definitely return again and so glad we tried something new!

Been going here for years and have always enjoyed our stay but this time was different. The renovation they did is terrible. I agree with the previous review that the renovation choices are awful and whoever was the interior decorator/designer needs to be fired. Bile colored green and burnt orange colors aren’t my thing.

I stay at a lot of resorts across the country and this one is top-notch. Great location and great facilities. They have a short hike in the back to a waterfall.

In 2023, I had four wonderful stays at this resort. However, my recent stay on June 20, 2024, was one of the most uncomfortable experiences I’ve ever had. When booking with a third-party like Expedia, be cautious about the room you’re booking. Upon arrival, you may be surprised that the room you booked online doesn’t match the description. You can request a room change, but there’s an additional charge for each day of your stay. Since you didn’t book directly with Loews, don’t expect the front desk to accommodate your requests. Avoid charging food and drinks directly to your room. Save your receipts instead. Drinks from the pool area (Bills Grill) are significantly more expensive than those at the resort’s restaurant or bar. If you upgrade your drink at the pool, make sure you know the upfront cost. I upgraded to Patron when I checked out on Sunday, but the pool bar charged me $36.00. The hotel refused to adjust the bill, while the top-shelf drink at the restaurant/bar was only $21.00. Before your trip, do your homework and keep track of all your receipts. Check your bill on the day you check out.

Love the location and the new updates to the decor !! Majority of the staff is excellent!! Friendly atmosphere and relaxed environment. Fitness center is excellent, and I learned you can play tennis or pickle ball included in your resort fee. Golf course is fun and well groomed. Proximity to Sabino Canyon is a huge plus if you enjoy hiking!! We walked the Canyon twice and played golf one day.|The Flying V has a new chef and his food was delicious!!|Bottom line: my wife and I have enjoyed the Loews for decades!! It is a wonderful place to restore your heart and soul in the beautiful desert foothills!!

Stayed for a week starting on New Year's eve. Resort is beautiful and well-maintained. Location is spectacular, nestled right at the bade of the Santa Catalina mountains.. Maid service was excellent.Service at the lounge on New Year's eve was chaotic. That was the only negative aspect of an otherwise first-class stay. Will definitely book another stay.

Ventana Canyon is one of the best hotels I have ever visited. The design of the resort is amazing, the views are unbelievably beautiful, the rooms are well appointed and comfortable and the staff are all smiling and friendly. We had a short stay so we were only able to have breakfast at the hotel, but the food was delicious.

We traveled there because my daughter and son had worked there when they were in college. They reminisced their time there.

Google Review: We recently stayed at this resort and found it to be a mix of beautiful moments and missed opportunities. The property has incredible potential, and we’re already considering returning in a few months with our children, as it seems like a fantastic place for families. What We Loved: • Gorgeous Views: The scenery is absolutely stunning and creates such a peaceful, relaxing environment. • Comfortable Rooms: The rooms were well-designed, cozy, and made for a great retreat after a long day. • Family Appeal: We noticed plenty of activities and amenities that would be perfect for kids, which has us excited to bring our own next time. • Memorable Activities: The guided hike was a highlight. It was a fun, informative hour spent learning about the local rocks, trees, and wildlife while enjoying breathtaking views. • Friendly Staff: The staff were kind and genuinely tried to help, even when things didn’t go smoothly. For example, our breakfast waitress was thoughtful enough to let me know their lattes were decaf, which I really appreciated. • Affordable Luxury: Compared to other fine resorts we’ve stayed at, this one is much more affordable, making it a great option for a getaway without breaking the bank. Areas to Improve: • Dining Experience: Breakfast service was inconsistent. While the waitress was kind, she didn’t check on us much, and we never got coffee refills. At the omelet bar, they ran out of bacon and didn’t replenish it, so I had to grab some from another station and break it up myself. Unfortunately, there was also a bug in my omelet, which seemed to have come from the mushrooms. • Room Amenities: The coffee creamers in the room were old and chunky. Additionally, the Amex amenity promised with our stay wasn’t in the room when we arrived, and despite reminding the staff twice, it was never delivered. • Service Gaps: While the staff were friendly, there were moments where professionalism was lacking, like seeing housekeepers on their phones in the hallways. • Follow-Through: Some operational details could use tightening. For example, the resort did waive our resort fee at the end of our stay to make up for the missing Amex amenity, which was appreciated—but it would have been better if it had been resolved earlier. Final Thoughts: This resort has so much potential to be truly exceptional. The location is stunning, the rooms are inviting, and there are clear efforts to create a great guest experience. While there are areas for improvement, it’s evident that the staff care and are trying their best. We’re seriously considering returning with our kids and give the property another chance to shine. For now, we encourage others to visit, enjoy the breathtaking views, and support the resort as it works to address some of these minor but important details. This place is a hidden gem, and we’re optimistic about its future!

I did not have a great experience here and was very dissatisfied with my stay to celebrate my 30th Birthday. From the very beginning of my stay of being charged several times upon my arrival by one of the staff members - I was under the impression that I was unwanted. The lack of assistance and accommodation that was received along with the follow through was very minimum to none existence. I was asked to swipe my card several times for check/in - all of which went through and stated approved on my end but the front desk clerk repeatedly asked me to swipe as it stated declined. This happened a total of 4 times and magically after I checked my account and stated the processing of several transactions my reservations immediately was approved by the clerk after he stated he made a few changes (I do not buy it at all) and I was finally handed my keys to the room. I do not believe this to be an accident but whether a statement. This was an inconvenience that I had to manage during my weekend trip to Tucson. I wish I had chosen to stay at another hotel more welcoming and accommodating. Needless to say, but I will not be staying at another Loews, and definitely not this one in the future.

I had a great stay here. The location was nice and relative to the rest of Tucson, and the rooms were nice. There was also a hike nearby to the hotel. However, the service was not great at the restaurant with the bar, because the food took a very long time to come. But besides that, it was a nice hotel.

Loews Ventana Canyon Resort is undoubtedly one of Arizona’s iconic properties. Nestled against the foothills of the Catalina Mountains, it offers stunning architecture that seamlessly blends into the desert landscape. Each spacious room boasts a private balcony with spectacular views—either overlooking the glittering city lights below or the majestic mountains behind. The resort’s modern décor is complemented by a lush natural setting, highlighted by a breathtaking waterfall that you can hike up to see. A winding river created by this waterfall flows beneath the hotel, eventually cascading into a pond near the golf course—a peaceful scene that truly sets this resort apart. This was my second stay at Loews Ventana Canyon, and I was thrilled to see many updates. Our recently renovated room was beautifully decorated, featuring a comfortable bed with both plush down pillows and firmer alternatives. The private patio was the perfect spot for morning coffee and evening wine, as we took in the spectacular mountain panorama. Service was also top-notch: The staff at check-in were incredibly friendly and assisted with our bags, adding a warm touch to our arrival. We enjoyed a fantastic meal at the on-site Flying V restaurant (which I’ve reviewed separately—be sure to check it out!). While I absolutely love this resort, there were a few issues that need to be addressed. Our bathroom door had a large gap at the bottom and wasn’t hung correctly, making it difficult to close and causing it to swing open. There was also paint on the door handle, and the alarm clock startled us out of bed at 5 AM—something housekeeping should reset between guests. The room’s main door slammed shut unless carefully guided, which could be improved by adjusting the door closer. Despite these hiccups, Loews Ventana Canyon earns kudos for sticking to a noon checkout—a welcome change from the earlier times many hotels are adopting these days. All said, the resort’s serene setting, well-appointed rooms, and friendly staff make it a standout destination. Plus, the rates were surprisingly reasonable for early January, especially as high season begins. If you’re planning a trip to Tucson, put Loews Ventana Canyon Resort on your must-visit list—you’ll love the views, the tranquility, and the overall desert luxury experience.
