Let me explain the workings of this salon. Enter and write your name real or fake, nobody cares, in the book. I have not seen the benefit. Expect everyone to ignore you. If you're wearing a coat, walk almost to the back of the store, on the right side there's a white door. Open it. Hang coat. Continue on to the back of the salon to the open door straight ahead. This is where your hair will be washed. Stand there until someone calls you in. When you're done. Sit on the outskirts. Depending on how much money your presumed hair request will yield, someone will say come. Good luck, especially to the non Spanish speakers... I speak Spanish but I'm black, so they don't expect it. I literally watched a frustrated client take out her rollers herself today after waiting for long, and when the stylist finally appeared from wherever, because they called her in Spanish, she did not allow her to touch her hair. No blow, no sheen, nothing. Why didn't they call her before? I have the same experience but I wing it because the prices are low.

EDIT: I am no longer going to this salon and found one better for me that won’t hurt my scalp or push me to try and put a texturizer on my hair and doesn’t have cockroaches and simply say “it’s New York” in addition to knowing my hair been damaged from how hot they make dryer I see literal smoke from head. I’m done. They’re too rough except for one person who did my hair good but can’t seem to get anymore and even having roots not done well last time when I did treatment . Been going for 2 years but no more. I also know what’s been said in Spanish and let it slide a lot. I found better so my review is no longer applicable. My hair I noticed looks way better when I go to other salons versus this one and had other salon professionals tell me wherever I did hair before was ruining it Mucha grosería y mucha basura habla de la gente en general y no vale la pena gastar dinero con esa actitud, especialmente cuando solo se dice algo como feliz año nuevo. Es como un chisme de la escuela secundaria. OLD REVIEW: Love how they did my hair over time, just wish I didn’t get too much trimmed off when I said no :( also last time I went I ask for keratin but the receipt to go pay said “hair Botox”. Nonetheless, amazing salon but having my hair on braids to try and grow back the length that got trimmed because I love having long hair lol. Anna is my stylist. Very sweet and amazing. Sadly this will be my last visit. The salon is clean and organized but the attitude of the stylists is beyond me. I informed Ana that I wanted a wash and set, the lady proceeds to want to blow my hair and when i asked if she understood in Spanish she said yes. Another lady jumps in the conversation and I'm telling her what I want but she insisted on over talking me and instructs the lady wrong. Im telling the lady who insisted on helping that the products she is instructing the lady to use is not what I want in my hair. So now both ladies have an attitude because I wont let them do what they want to my hair?!?! Make this make sense. Ana seems more concerned about being on her phone than actually doing hair. After she is done rolling my hair, i ask if she can cover my ears, she catches another attitude and tells me i don't need it because of the dryer I'm sitting under! Now the dryer is on last two minutes and she is pulling rollers out and i had to tell her my hair is still damp, she tells me i cut the dryer off and i informed her it was the last two minutes and getting cold, again more concerned about getting back to her phone. She was very disconnected and I had to request twice to go under another dryer. The owner needs to train her staff on how to communicate with people and learn to listen to what the clients want! I appreciate a stylist expertise, but laziness has no place for a true beautician. I will go back to traveling out to ENY - where they actually listen to what the customer wants. When the owner is in the building, everyone is on their best behavior but when she is not present these ladies body language and attitude is enough to make you walk out and not look back. Then they sit around and talk about you in spanish, some people do actually understand the language. If the african american community pulled their business - Lopez would be out of business! I’ve seen some negative reviews which I can highly disagree with I’ve been coming to this salon since I was 12 years old the staff and establishment is excellent ! Alex and Nelly are the best ! They keep my hair healthy Highly recommend !

Since I first started coming here, I feel like my hair has looked nicer, shinier, and doesn't get as frizzy as often as before. The hairstylists here really do care about your hair goals whether you're aiming for length, strength, etc., and have given good advice to me so far. I appreciate them all! ☺️

This salon is very clean and the women are friendly. The owner Ms. Lopez gives advice on how to better take care of your hair. She is kind and helpful with the maintenance of my hair.

I’ve been coming here for over 20 years. I went to Lopez beauty salon in April 2024 for a color on the front half of my head and a blow out on my natural hair. My hair is bra strap length. Ana completed the color and blow dry. After washing my hair chunks of hair comes out everytime. My natural hair is now stringy and I’ve collected a zip lock bag full of hair that has shed from my recent wash today. I have NOT straightened my hair since April because of the severe damage this salon has caused me. I will now have to cut my hair off and start fresh for naturally healthy hair again. I’ve very sadden by this experience and I believe a texturizer was put into my hair without my knowledge.

I’ve been coming to Lopez Beauty Salon for a wash and set for quite sometime now. Today I came in to inquire how to color my hair red with out using bleach but I was informed that using the bleach would be necessary because my hair is the color black when the dye goes on my hair the red color won’t be so bright. My hair was done by manager Roma she gave me the color book so I could choose the red color I wanted did a bleach test on my hair first to see if my hair can handle the bleach it was fine. After that she started the process she bleached my hair washed the bleach out and dyed hair red. I was put under the dryer for a deep conditioning and rinse out once that was done. I went to Janet she blowed dried and styled my hair. Special Thank you to Roma and Lopez team for there patience with me I was so nervous I didn’t think my hair was going to come out so great! Roma is amazing and knowledgeable she gets the job done you won’t be disappointed leaving her salon . I am truly satisfied with the results of my hair.

The salon smells like “bleach”. EXTREMELY super clean. Exceptional customer service. I know I’m safe at this hair salon. The owner has followed ALL of the CDC health regulations in the salon. Not to mention the “SAFE DISTANCE” requirements. As always Lopez hair salon NEVER disappoints my expectations of a “A” class stylist and salon.

They kinda rude imo and don’t really treat you like they care if you not a regular. Lady passed me a comb and told me to detangle my own hair because it looked nappy 😂😂😂😂 whenever the owner is actually there she rude too so that must be where they get it from

DAMAGED AND RIPPED OFF MY NATURAL HAIR!!! If you care about your hair, I’ve warned you DO NOT COME HERE. I used to get my hair done here for years. I got my hair done by the lady with the glasses and short hair for the first time and she burned my hair off. I’ve had natural hair and I suspect perm was even put in my head because I no longer have curls and hair is missing. When I told her what she did to my hair was wrong she proceeded to laugh at me. A majority of your customers are black to make fun or my hair and hair texture is uncalled for. I used to love this place but she showed her true colors. I just hope you don’t have the same issue because if so, you’ve been warned.

I am a long time customer at Lopez beauty salon whenever I need a haircut and color treatment for my hair I go to Lopez beauty salon. My hair stylist name is Roma whenever I go there she would say Mira what are we doing today and I would reply Mira you know what to do, whenever she is done with my hair I’m for ever SATISFIED . I had a color done today this is how Beautiful it looks ( see pic below) every hairstylist there is AWESOME!!! Atmosphere is warm and beautiful

I love Roma's. You can't exchange cheap prices for experience. I'm totally happy with my healthy hair. The products are top notch. My hair has grown like never before. I've been coming here for at least ten (10) years. I've been to several other hair salons for long periods of time, and they never grew my hair like this. Excellent place to come to.

I’ve been going to this salon for a few years, sometimes i don’t get the opportunity to go but when i do, they always do a great job, i had my hair cut today with Janet; she just trimmed the hair and gave me beautiful layers, as always I’m very pleased. I recommend this salon to all types of textured hair their masters at it all!

I’ve gotten a relaxer, deep condition and a hair color and I am very happy with the results. I must say the staff there is very professional and friendly they make you feel like you’re at home. Also, their prices are very reasonable ☺️ I’m happy

I’ve been going to Lopez on Rockaway parkway in Canarsie for almost 16 years, and they have never disappointed. Janet is my personal stylist and she has always felt like an Aunt to me. When I come in she greats me with warmth and care and always makes sure my hair gets what it needs. It doesn’t matter how much time passes her love for her customers is always the same. She has seen me thru all 3 of my pregnancies and I now bring my 2 daughters to the shop on special occasions as well. Kathy and Anna have been great in taking care of my girls too! I recommend Lopez to everyone.
