Lex is absolutely amazing! She is a sculptor of curly hair! I have fine curly hair and have never had someone understand how to cut it as intuitively and professionally as Lex. She took time to understand what I wanted and I couldn’t be happier with the result.

I have been a loyal client of Kate at Lost Hills for years, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Nightmare haircut, my hair will literally never be the same unless I shave my head. I had been seeing the OWNER Kate for over a year. Each time I was confused as I left the chair with more flyaways and breakage than when I came in. I have naturally fine hair, but it’s very thick and dirty blonde hair. Kate always commented how my hair was gorgeous and thick but then proceed to demolish my healthy virgin hair with a razor. I don’t dye my hair, and I rarely use heat. A blank canvas for her to RUIN. The last haircut I had from her was a quick DUSTING of my ends, a service she does for repeat clients. I thought that’s all I was getting. I left with a 1/3 of my hair GONE and a deep face frame that cut into my perimeter so much at my chin and shoulders that I am forced to cut my hair off to make it all even again. Mind you, my hair was down to my mid back in length. Towards the end of my haircut I asked Kate to thin my ends using point cutting so it didn’t look so blunt and thick on the ends, little do I know she then goes in to thin ALL OF THE HAIR in the back of my head with thinning shears or a razor AT MY SCALP. With no warning or permission. She had never done this before and suddenly a 1/3 of my hair is gone at the root. Now I have this weird part at the back of my head since there is not enough hair to support a proper hair fall / laying. Insane. The back of my head at my scalp feels shaved off. I have what looks like bald spots in some parts. Not to mention my face frame was rushed, choppy and not blended so I have to go to another hairdresser to fix it and chop off my hair about 2 inches. So sad since I told Kate multiple hair appointments that I was trying to grow out my hair to my waist. Now my hair will have to be cut above my breast and it will take YEARS to grow back. When the hair is thinned at the scalp it is impossible to trim the split ends as it grows in and causes frizziness, puffiness and not to mention I have sensitive skin so my scalp is inflamed on the back of my head from the change and Irritated from the pulling off of my dry hair from the razor and shears. I caution ANYONE to stay far far away from this salon as the owner was not willing to fix my hair and was extremely cold and unhelpful when I told her my issues with the cut. She gave me a full refund immediately thankfully but my hair will literally not recover and likely grow out to it’s normal thickness for another 3 years. INSANE. Who cuts at the root without asking? Or even mentioning it? Who cuts into face framing pieces all into the hair when you ask for a little more up to the chin? Truly a nightmare experience where Kate showed her true colors and cold, sarcastic demeanor, saying “thank you for sharing all your feelings” after I told her this haircut made me cry all day. Devastating. Also why am I paying $160 for a haircut where I come in with dry hair, she cuts my dirty, DRY WAVY hair without straightening it and then tells me to leave. No shampoo wash, no blow dry, no wet cut., no styling. No polish. All dry and then leave. How is this normal? Cheap cheap and cutting corners being a lazy stylist. Please NEVER GO HERE!

I adore this salon and Kate. When I urgently needed to switch from my previous hairstylist, whom I shared with an ex, LostHills came to my rescue. My hair consistently looks phenomenal after each cut, and they welcome my adorable dog with open arms. I will forever recommend this place and wish I had more hair to cut more frequently. You will truly understand this review when you too leave there looking stunning, flirty, and fantastic.

I love this salon so much! After moving to LA from NYC I was having a hard time finding a salon that I felt comfortable in. Lost Hills has the best vibe and feels like you’re hanging out in a friend’s home. I have been seeing Haley for color and cuts for a few years now. She was so great about getting to know my preferences with how I like my color and styling. Kate, the salon owner, is so kind and welcoming. I always look forward to my appointments and getting to spend time at Lost Hills!

Kate and the rest of the team of stylists at Lost Hills have built a unique, welcoming environment that I always look forward to visiting. The salon is a true hidden gem -- a creative, approachable space where the focus is on the client and their unique style. Kate has decades of training, teaching, and styling with the best of the best. She has a true passion for making people feel like their best selves, but without any pretentiousness. Her warm demeanor is welcoming to everyone from street punks to toddlers to grandmas to artists. I usually dread going to traditional salons, but always look forward to visiting Lost Hills. You'll be in expert hands when you sit down in Kate's chair. And you will probably get a sweet, heartfelt hug on your way out of the salon.

Kate has been cutting my family's hair for over 18 years. That's four heads altogether: my hair, my husband's and my two kids who are now adults. She has styled our hair for many important life events and has become a part of our family. Kate is kind, consistent and exceptional at what she does. I hope she never retires and can cut my hair until I'm in my grave because most days I get complimented on my hair and am asked who cuts it. Kate is truly the best.

She manages to foster a creative, comforting and distinctly cool environment at Lost Hills that makes every visit feel meaningful. She treats every haircut as a collaboration, but I trust that her vision will make me feel more like myself by the end of every visit. True story. She understands my hair and how to work with all the textures to make me feel confident, and consistently delivers amazing results. I’ve been going to Stacie for almost 20 years now. We met in NYC when she was a junior stylist and I followed her wherever she had a salon. After moving to LA, my hair was so sad. Going from stylist to stylist and my husband looking at my face after saying how “Ho-hum” I looked about my hair. When I would visit NYC, I’d sneak in a hair cut. But luckily a few years ago, Stacie found her way to my hair and I’ve never looked happier to get my haircut again… says my husband… and I.

I have been in love with this place the first day it opened - my mother have traveled cross-country to see Kate. She left NYC and she’s the best stylist my mom and I have ever been to hands down. Looking forward to seeing her again and having her fix quarantine locks. Thankfully we got the chance to book her first week of March before the madness so I’m not looking totally like a mangy puppy.

A hidden gem. You'd likely never find it, unless you were looking for it. And that's what makes this place so great! Kate is a phenomenal hair stylist, and you truly get an experience every time you come. I've been coming to the same place for over a year now, and can't get my haircut anywhere else.
