After many, many years of trimming my own very straight, very long hair, I decided that I wanted to try something new and more manageable that was also easy to style. After doing a lot of research online, I decided to book an appointment with Katie at Love Salon. This ended up being one of the most wonderful and life changing experiences for me. Not only did Katie give me the most incredible shag haircut, but she cut my hair in such a way that it actually came to life with the cutest curls and waves that I have never in my life seen or thought I had. She is a true hair sorceress and if I could give her ten stars, I would. Do yourself a favor and book an appointment at Love Salon. You will not regret it.

Best haircut of my life! :,) Emily is so caring and made me feel so comfortable and heard. As a new client, she took the time to make sure all the details were just right, and that the cut was 100% what I wanted. And it is beyond what I expected, I am in love with my hair! I feel adorable and confident, I am so happy to have found Emily and Love Salon! Also, the salon is very cozy with all the plants and the natural light, it’s such a pretty space!

I canceled an appointment a week ahead of time, by leaving a message on the salon’s voicemail. I was then charged $75 for a no-show, and told “we don’t check that number,” and that they had a 24- hour cancellation policy. I understood that they had a 24-hour cancellation policy - that’s why I canceled a week in advance. There was nothing on the voicemail message indicating that they didn’t check that number. It was the phone number on the salon’s website - that’s why I called it. $75 is a lot of money to lose for something that was ultimately not my responsibility.

Emily at Love Salon PDX is always friendly, attentive and does a great job. The salon itself always feels like an affirming and safe space (and not only because it's queer-owned).

I showed up really late and flustered. Despite that, Vivian gave me the longest pre-cut consultation l've ever had. There are tons of stylists that can give an excellent haircut, but it doesn't matter if it's not the excellent haircut that you had envisioned. Vivian made sure she knew every single detail about what I wanted, asked questions l've never been asked before, and executed it flawlessly. Easily my favorite haircut I've ever had (by far), but also the most pleasant salon experience too.

My wife wanted to get her dyed purple, so we scheduled a consultation. I arrived with my wife to help her choose the style she wanted. The hair stylist was right of the bat rude to me, asking "what are you doing here??". I'm here to help? Just weird, but scheduled and paid for the appointment. Appointment seemed OK - she got a balyage (approx $300). My wife has beautiful natural curls, but the stylist kept insisting on straightening it. Another weird vibe. Lastly, the first shower my wife takes after the appointment, her hair leaks dye.I understand some dye can leak, but it was enough that it got on my towels. It feels like the stylist did not properly wash her hair. Overall would not come back nor recommend.

Vivian fulfilled all of my shaggy mullet dreams! She gave me such a cool haircut (probably the coolest I've ever had) and was so personable and funny. I was also thankful for the styling instruction and feel more confident about my hair now. I would highly recommend her hair artistry!

Vivian isn’t just a stylist, I like to think of her as a hair artist. She takes such care in her craft, and is just the sweetest human ever. I have never been happy with my cuts til I started seeing her, and she knows exactly what I want/need with very little description. I have been told in the past that my hair is difficult (thick, coarse, etc.) but she has zero issue with shaping. Especially if you’re looking for something gender-neutral or gender-affirming (such as this sweet mullet), Vivian is your artist! Also, Love Salon has a calming, relaxed vibe that I enjoy very much. I’ve recommended Love Salon and Vivian to countless friends, and now to you!

Billie gave me an amazing haircut! I have very thick, wavy hair. They were a delight to work with, asked many onboarding questions, and checked in regularly along the way. I love what we ended up with. When my partner saw it he said "this might be the best haircut yet." It looks great a month and a half out, and whether it's been one or five days since I've washed it.

I had a great experience here! The space was lovely and so was Vivian, my stylist. As a trans person with curly hair I have an extra hard time finding people I trust to cut my hair how I want it. Vivian listened to me and made me feel very comfortable. I haven’t had bangs before and was a little nervous, but I love what she did with my hair. I definitely recommend her services to anyone, especially curly and/or queer folks.

I've lost track of how many compliments I've received since Katie P. started doing my hair this year. People stop me on the street to ask me where I go. Love Salon is a vibe. The shop is a sexy, stylish, fun, and upbeat viiiiibe. And the entire team there is TALENTED. I see their clients and I am blown away. I'm moving to LA soon and having to say goodbye to Katie's talented hands is up there next to my family. It's gonna be PAINFUL.

Love Salon PDX is top tier. I had my hair dyed for the first time a few years ago by Arianna Skye and was super happy with the results, and recently have had my hair cut by Emily. I have never felt more confident than I do after getting my haircut here! Emily gave me the queer affirming mullet of my dreams and I feel so lucky. Would absolutely recommend this salon to anyone!

The first time I went in to see Isabel my curls were incredible. But this last time made me uncomfortable. I have been working on growing my hair out forever and she trimmed a good amount off without asking. On top of that she shampooed my hair so many times and my hair was feeling so lifeless and dry. Also my friend dropped off something quickly since she was in the neighborhood and got extremely weird vibes from the interaction. The salon gave them and me catty vibes from the majority of stylist there. Of course I still left a tip and was pleasant on my way out, but bad vibes.

Best haircut I have ever had! Super friendly place! The salon is VERY nice, clean with a lot of space, and I loved how they had a strict policy with COVID precautions keeping everyone safe. I went in not knowing what I wanted, and Katie assessed my hair and cut it with my natural texture. I was worried I wouldn't be able to style it the same way... but to my avail, I can do it just the same! All of the hairstylists there seem very talented from what I have seen on social media too :)

I had the opportunity to work with Isabel, and she was amazing! Right off the bat, she had such a nice and warm way about her, and was so friendly! I let her know I had heat sensitivity issues, and she handled it so well! She didn't make me feel bad or awkward about it, and was really good about checking in to see if I was okay, without it being too much and almost drawing more attention to it (which is what has happened in the past, and it almost makes it worse). She was more than willing to answer all the questions I had, and since actually taking care of my hair is newer to me, she went over all the new stuff I would be using and how to use it as many times as I needed to feel comfortable with my new routine. My appointment with Isabel was the genuinely the first hair appointment that I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. She is an awesome human, and I can't wait to book my next appointment!

Such a fun aesthetic and vibe! I'm sure all the stylists are amazing, but I really can't recommend Hang highly enough! It's been 6+ years and she's never once given me anything less than a perfect haircut!

Best haircut I’ve ever had hands down- even amidst COVID regulations! Katie was so personable, inspiring, kind, and gave me the most “me” haircut I’ve ever had after just having met. She also reccommended the perfect products for me, and was eager to take the time to really listen to my vision. Beautifully designed space, super clean, and taking all safety precautions- what more could ya ask for!

Love salon is such a cute place on Hawthorne. I got a haircut from Isabel Poppy during COVID 19 and was extremely pleased with the safety measures in place. They took my temperature before I came in, cleaned surfaces before and after I was near them, and they made sure everyone was watching hands upon arrival. Isabel is fantastic and I was so grateful I trusted them with my curly hair! I felt taken care of, at ease, and my hair is so happy. Glad I took a risk of a new hair dresser and salon.
