Description
Lux is located near downtown San Antonio in Olmos Park near San Antonio community college, Trinity university and Incarnate word college. We offer a laid back environment with down to earth stylists and clientele alike. We provide services to all types of clients from college students wanting summer highlights to grandmothers who want turquois, to soccer moms with kids that want summer mowhawks. When it comes to cuts and colors we do it all.

DON’T GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY AGAIN TO GET YOUR HAIR FIXED WHEN YOU LEAVE! LOOK AT HOW THEY LET ME WALK OUT!! photos are all day of If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I drove an hour and a half from Austin on my birthday to get a professional looking root touch up with Monika for a big interview that weekend and I left in tears, humiliated, looking like a clown. When I called to show a friend i believe her words were “It looks like you DIY’d yourself for the first time at night on the back of a horse”… Aptly put. To start Monika made a big deal about asking me to arrive at 7:30am just as the shop was opening so she could finish by 11, but an hour into my drive down I get a call from her saying she’s at a friends place out of the city and will be late! So after I woke up at 5:30 to make the drive down early at her request, I’m left to sit and wait another 30 minutes while she takes her time making her way to work. She finally arrives a bit after 8 and the service begins, yet as time is passing I can see she’s starting to rush. My theory is confirmed when her second client walks in is left waiting OVER AN HOUR sitting in the chair next to me while Monika hurries to finish my hair. She refuses to let me see myself until the end, and when she finally does turn me around i’m given all of 5 seconds to look before I’m rushed out so she can start on the client that had been waiting. (The other clients appt was at 11 and we finished a bit past 12) The moment I get into the sun I see the disaster that is BRIGHT PATCHY PURPLE ROOTS! I immediately go back to point out I cannot go to an interview looking like this, and she straight up refuses to move anyone around or stay late to fix it saying she’s completely booked for the day. I call the manager Lejan to see if he can assist, HE ALSO REFUSES TO HELP! Won’t call anyone in or do it himself. I ask him if he thinks my hair represents the quality of work his salon offers and he agrees i’m severely over-toned and suggests that I wash my hair 7 OR 8 times to get it looking better! (if you know anything about freshly bleached hair you’ll know this is bad advice, he’s essentially telling me to further sacrifice hair health for a better look) He then tells me there’s special shampoos I can buy to help. I tell him shampoo won’t cut it and i’m going to have to get it fixed at another shop because my interview is the next day and ask if he could work with me on even just a partial refund and he again refuses and HANGS UP ON ME! So to recap, I was left $165 in the hole having to pay again to get it fixed (as a college student that is A LOT) with embarrassingly bad hair and a terrible tear filled birthday. Needless to say I did not make it to that interview. Back in Austin the stylist I saw to fix it was APPALLED the manager let me walk out like that and refused to stay late to fix it. Completely unprofessional and rude, save your money, hair, and time! Not to mention this was the first i’ve ever had a manager tell me I needed to buy more stuff to fix a mistake their stylist had made! Even writing this now I have to laugh so I don’t cry.. Edit- After reading the owners response I encourage everyone to do the same, consider it, then take a look at my photos again and ask yourself if you were my stylist, would you be comfortable sending me out like that? As an owner, is that how you’d respond? Given Lejan’s catty reply, if he were in my shoes I certainly don’t think he would’ve been happy with the service and response he received, especially as someone with an intimate understanding of what looks professional/good. In fact, I think he would have been.. say.. angry even, that he now had the added stress and cost of a new problem to fix. But alas, I’m just some sucker to get one over on then fight details with online. We could go back and forth, but what’s the point. I guess low quality service is within company policy if you can charge before they get a decent look. How naive of me, lesson learned. Have the day you deserve.

I highly recommend Lux. The folks there are all talented and do a fabulous job. Lejan does my hair and he does a great job, not to mention his availability. I love and appreciate that I’m able to get a Sunday appointment. On top of the talent, the atmosphere is a plus!

This was my first time going and i specifically said I don't style my hair curly while i was making the appointment. I got a wash and a cut (again i never asked for a curly cut). I straightened my hair when back home and it looks absolute worst. I wanted a trim and touch up to my layers, and my hair after the cut looked like there was a three different distinct steps with a long mullet under. It looked like I had cut a chunk of my hair. The layers did not blend at all. I had to go to a different salon to get it fixed. I absolutely do not recommend. I do think the people are nice and friendly, but that does not make up for the absolute shitshow of a haircut I received.

Love LOVE love this salon!!! From the super friendly staff to the amazing customer service I receive each time, I can’t recommend this place enough. I even hand out extra business cards when I get compliments on my hair. I try and do this for every small business in the local area. Lejan did his THANG today. I recently retired from the military and let him create something artistically just for me. I am in love with my new look! If you’re looking for a salon to call home, look no further. New to the area and was looking for a local stylist. I frankly have no idea why this has any good reviews. I received the worst haircut I’ve ever had in my entire life such a hack job. Person who cut my hair should never use a pair of scissors. clearly, this needs to be further detailed. I was extremely polite in my review. That was a complete hack job. There’s no shock here I have always had rather short hair. The only shock was the literal hack job. It was completely disconnected in the layers. It was not blended in. There was zero style involved here it was like giving a 10-year-old a pair of scissors. I showed my hairstyle that I had before I told the stylist I wanted something a little bit shorter and then I showed her the photo of what I was looking for. There were two photos that I showed her. She is completely delusional if she thinks I was confused about what I wanted or that I was in shock about the haircut itself going from from long to short. The only shock was a horror that I left in which I have multiple photos of . Also, you took it upon yourself to color my hair very dark like reddish brunette color when I just spent $300 putting highlights in my hair I only wanted to go shorter and add some layers. She gave me a pixie. No one asked for a pixie. This is the worst experience in my life in a salon and on top of the poor service and horrendous skill level that this person has if you want to call it that you’re trying to gaslight me and tell me that I was in shock that must be why oh no , absolutely not!!!! I was very polite in the salon as well considering what was happening to me. On top of that you did not even have the decency to apologize for this chaos. Total nerve, I'll give you that. Facts!!!

I've been here several times with different stylist and have always gotten a great haircut. Last time I came I was not happy with my haircut and they let me come in and get it fixed free of charge. Responsible price for the quality and service they give.

Great experience. It was my first time visiting this salon and everyone working was so welcoming. I just wanted a trim as I’m planning on getting another, shorter haircut in a few months. I greatly appreciated my hairstylist, Caitlin’s, input on how to best trim my hair in prep for my next cut. Under Caitlin’s scissors the boring “trim” I’d imagined actually turned into a style that’s really cute and very refreshing from my previous lackluster, non-shaped, grown out hair. Will definitely be back!

I’ve been coming to Lejan for almost 3 years now, he never disappoints. I trusted him with my hair for my wedding, birthdays, etc. The salon is cozy and cute! If you’re looking for a new hairstylist, this is the place to go!

Robert at Lux Salon is a true gem! I’ve been a loyal client for years, and he consistently delivers the perfect haircut every time. The entire team is friendly, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. I started bringing my wife with me as well and she hasn’t looked anywhere else for her hair needs since then! I highly recommend Lux Salon for anyone looking for a top-notch salon experience!

A big thank you and much appreciation to Lejan for the excellent service and kindness he showed to my 82 year old Momma. Mom loves to have her hair styled and looking good. This has helped tremendously in coping with the recent loss of her husband (my Daddy) of 50+ years. Feeling good about one's self and ones appearance makes such an impact especially for our elderly. Thank you for your patience in listening to what she would like for her hair, thank you for showing such loving respect of my elderly Momma, and your overall kindness to her. When I saw my Momma after her appointment, she was beaming with pride over her cut and highlights! It has made me very happy to see her happy and proud of the way she looks! I agree, she looks beautiful. Thank you so much, we will be seeing you in the future often!

I usually go somewhere super cheap for a trim but I thought hey, let's spend $65 and treat yourself. I even showed him a video of where they chopped off this poor girl's hair when she asked for a few inches. I asked for a trim with some layers just around the face. I have lots of fine hair so I don't layer my hair to have it thick. I have been working on growing my hair out for YEARS. To my dismay, he chose upon his own preferences and did heavy layering all throughout my hair. I asked for 2.5 inches for a trim and now it's almost like a mullet in the back. I'll have to cut off at least an ADDITIONAL 3 or 4 inches to have it back to normal, setting me back years of what I've grown out. And my hair is uneven. I call and a man claims he's the manager..I share my story and then he says well ok I'm not the manager but we all co-own. And proceeded to defend my stylist 'well was your hair uneven before you came? And 'well I'll have to hear his side first'. I did ask for a refund and they said no which at this point, it's not even about the money, I've lost years of growing out my hair.......

I've been getting my hair done here for 3 years and that says a lot...I finally found the right salon. I always get compliments on how my hair looks. I get the balayage. The staff is very nice and professional.

Robert has been my hair stylist for over a year now and I’ve loved every haircut I’ve had with him. He’s immensely thorough and also shows great attention to detail. He always has great conversation and always makes me feel comfortable. He was even able to save my fiancé’s hair after a bad self dye job. Robert is phenomenal and I would recommend him to anyone.

Went to Lux for a new look and boy did I get one! Cut & Color with Lejan, he is amazing. I've already scheduled my next appointment and even got a few friends booked. You won't be disappointed with his services. I'm extremely happy with the results!! Thank you 2/25/22 updated color & cuts for both of us!! 5/7/22 still going to Lux and still happy with the service!! 7/7, new cut and I'm LOVING it. Got an undercut and it feels great! 11/4, my babygirl and I went back to freshen up for fall 🍂. Once again he did not let us down. Thanks again Lejan 😍

I hate to be the person to leave a bad review, especially because everyone who worked here was so kind and friendly. 🥹 I’m just heartbroken about how bad my hair turned out 💔😭. I went in with blonde hair with an inch of grow out (brown) and I asked for a reverse balayage. I showed a picture of what o wanted it to look like and sent it to her so she could study it. It was a picture of a blonde woman with LIGHT brown naturally growing into her hair. 💇🏼♀️ The first attempt to do my hair, it didn’t turn out that bad, except it wasn’t blended as much as I had wanted and the color she used at my roots was BLACK and the color shoe lit through my hair was dark brown. But I mean at least their was still a lot of blonde in it. I paid over $200 that day. 💰 I came back a few days later because they knew it wasn’t what I wanted and offered to redo it. It was redone but she just added WAY more dark brown and black and now my hair is far darker than I ever wanted it. My hairstylist didn’t want me to see my hair until she was done. At the end, she let me see it and I was excited, it was curled and looked nice so I said it was great and left. Well i got home and looked at it in different light and without curls and I realized just how dark it was and how bad it looks on me. I messaged my hairstylist and told her how sad I was because it doesn’t look like the inspiration picture I showed her and it’s too dark. She messaged me back a day later and just said it will eventually wash out 😳. It’s permanent hair dye!! It’s really not coming out. Its just a little sad that my hair is stuck looking like this and I paid over $200 for it. I stopped messaging her after that because I realized she wasn’t going to try and fix it. It was a challenging dye because my hair is so damaged and porous and they wanted to go darker to keep my hair from just letting it all go. I understand that. But it just felt like she didn’t care about wanting to fix it. No hard feelings, I should have told her from the beginning that I didn’t want anything that dark in my hair. I’ve seen the work that’s normally done and it’s gorgeous . The management is amazing. 😇 I just had a bad hair experience.

OMG! I can't stop raving about my experience @ LUX! Miss Monika thank you for such an amazing job...WOW! I LOVE IT!The area is a bit away from me BUT if one is near the North Star Mall.. might as well just drive to LUX! MONIKA, ELENA, NADIA beautiful people, amazing work!

October 2022 review: I just have straight thin hair. You would not think it would be that difficult to cut. But we have been RV traveling around the country for the past 4.5 years, and people just cannot seem to cut my bangs or cut my hair evenly. We've come back to San Antonio at least annually, and I make sure to have an appointment with Robert so he can fix all the bad haircuts I've had while traveling. He's super nice and my hair always looks fresh and great when I leave the salon. 5 years ago review: Robert has been a God-send. Terrific skills and a really nice person.
