My dear friend had her hair colour done here at totem lake on 15 January and I’m so disappointed and hurt that she had such a bad experience with the young blonde lady Colourist - was it because she was brown? I’ve heard this before about Madison Reed hence why I never go to them as I know of their unprofessional behavior. Terrible that this happens there!!

Terrible!!! Unpleasant Unprofessional They just let the extra hair color stayed on my face asking me to remove it permanently by alcohol!! Even in 10th cultures they wouldn’t treat a customer like that!!!!😡🤬

I have debated on posting but decided it is best to set expectations for others in similar shoes to mine. I hadn’t colored my hair in YEARS when I decided I wanted to go ginger red. My first visit was an all over color that I liked, but wasn’t ginger red. I came back for a second visit not only with inspiration photos, but the exact Madison Reed colors I wanted. The stylist said she knew the exact colors I chose (but didn’t actually) and did a balayage only just above my shoulders. The colors she chose were muted with barely a hint of ginger red (like the inspo photos and colors called out). About 6 weeks later I decided I really wanted my inspo photo, so I went back, had a new colorist, and we went over the colors and photos again. We talked in length about my wants, which included highlights and not just balayage. I don’t know how she chose the colors but my hair was RED and PINK see photos of inspiration colors and stylist chosen colors. Nowhere near what I wanted. I complained via email and was refunded for this service being told “this was a great training opportunity”. All this to say that my expectations for a business that only does color, is that they would be the best of the best at color - and it just isn’t true. If you are looking for any more than an all over color, basic highlights or a root touch up - I would go elsewhere. Although what I wanted wasn’t basic, I did see plenty of people around me perfectly happy with their all overs and root touch ups - so those seem to work. The customer service was okay. They were polite but I could tell they were annoyed with my requests on the first two visits. The third visit the stylist was great, I just didn’t understand the colors chosen. Expect MR stylists to do what they think is best and not what you want.

My 2nd time to this salon with 2 years between visits. Came in for root, gloss & blowout service. The colorist was short with me during consult while I was explaining issues with color in past ‘ my hopes for this visit. We agreed on a color & proceeded. During processing I was told it would be 40 min. During this time she moved on to another client. I waited much longer then 40 min by the time she got back to me & took me to wash. During the wash, she asked another woman to finish washing my hair. When done I finally got to see the color & was horrified! It was nowhere near my color or the color agreed upon! It was a dark purplish red not dark golden brown. And I don’t believe that she even used any gloss because there is no sign of any golden highlighted colors including the highlights I came in with which were now all dark too. I’m very unhappy with my color & service at this location.

Very unprofessional and dirty. Nobody takes care of you once you have your color on. I would not recommend it. There is not even a place to hang your coat. Big disappointment. The Recepcionist was very nice though.

Excellent and professional service. I go here 2x month but occasionally change up the color I use and appreciate the expertise of the Madison Reed team to customize my outcome and keep it real on options so not to damage hair,etc

It was my first time at Madison Hair, I was attended to quickly at recepcion.My colorist was Brianna, she understood what I wanted, communicative I loved it. Hanna washed my hair and it was perfect. I highly recommend Madison Reed Hair Color Bar Kirkland.
