I hadn't really tended to my hair for about 3-4 months with all the craziness of work and the holidays, I really let it get away from me (I have a short cut). After getting back into town from celebrating Christmas and ringing in the new year, I was feeling super exhausted and just blah. One thing that always helps me get out of a funk is getting a haircut, etc. I reached out to Mae Salon to see if there was anything available anytime soon since I realized how badly I needed something done. Aja didn't waste any time reaching out as soon as an appt opened up and the next thing I knew I was in her chair within a few days! Walking into Mae that day completely transformed my energy/ vibe. The sun spilling into the salon felt like a warm hug, the complimentary snacks and beverages were just what I needed and the scalp massage I received essentially made me fall asleep. Not to mention how spot on the cut was that I didn't realize I needed so bad. After I left and went back to work, I felt like I was a brand new person, "who is she?" I asked myself smirking. If you are looking for a space with stylists that don't only cater to making you look like a rock star, but a salon where you feel so warm and welcome inside and out, add Mae Salon to the top of your list!

I’ve never felt more at home in a hair salon in Denver than I do at MĀE. I always find first times a little daunting & anxiety-inducing, but from the moment you walk in, the high ceilings and big front windows create a bright, welcoming space, while the décor keeps it cozy and comfortable. I first booked here specifically to see Jess, who I've seen since 2023. She’s become a true partner in helping me find a style that fits my lifestyle, personality, and evolving sense of identity. I’ve always been unsure about how to present myself—sometimes leaning femme, sometimes going more functional—and Jess listens with kindness and compassion. She’s incredibly empathetic, creative, and talented, and she consistently validates my feelings while guiding me toward a hairstyle that works with my day-to-day routine (hot flashes included!), my non-binary identity, my greying hair, and my budget. She even introduced me to new products like hair paste, showing me exactly how to use them at home so I can recreate the look myself. What’s extra-special about MĀE is the salon’s explicitly queer- and neurodivergent-friendly environment. Everyone I’ve met there is kind, inclusive, and truly wants you to feel comfortable—both physically and emotionally. I love that they use Davines products, but it's no surprise that they do, because they align perfectly with MĀE's focus on high-quality and sustainable self-care. The salon’s location on South Broadway also feels like home to me (tons of my favorite spots are along S Broadway), plus parking is a breeze, street or a lot to the north of the building. Whether you’re looking for a simple trim, a transformation, IV vitamin therapy or an awesome hand-poke tattoo, the whole team at MĀE go above and beyond to help you look and feel like the most authentic version of yourself. They’re respectful of your budget, never pushy about products, and are always ready to share their expertise when you need guidance. I highly recommended Jess specifically but MĀE as a whole for anyone seeking a genuine, inclusive, and high-quality holistic wellness experience in Denver. I can't wait to return.

I love Mae! It’s so relaxing and always has fun events. I see Emily there for my hair and she always knows how best to cut my hair, I always feel great after a hair cut. I’ve also gotten a few tattoos from Hannah, she is such a light energy and I love that it is stick and poke!

I’ve been seeing Emily for more than a decade and would literally follow her off a cliff if it meant she’d keep doing my hair. She’s taken my hair from a bright blonde to a rich brunette and it’s been fabulous at every stage. I love that’s she’s focused on low-maintenance color options - my hair looks great and it doesn’t require being at the salon all the time in order keep it that way.

I’ve followed Aja through her evolution these past 6 years or so that has landed at the birth and fulfillment of Mae.Her talent and vision has created an oasis that I really look forward to visiting for all my beauty needs. You will feel like you stepped into your own personal happy-place when you walk in and their skills will allow you to feel safe. Definitely a place I recommend to anyone who will listen!

Mae salon is not just a salon, it is a spa-like wellness experience! From the moment you walk in the door, you can sense the intention lovingly poured into this place. I’ve been seeing Jess for a while now, she is amazing! She takes hair health seriously and her eye for color is wizard-level. Cannot recommend this place enough!

MAE is a high end salon staffed by warm, welcoming and quality (in all ways) people. The atmosphere was warm, the amenities plentiful. This week there was a hot chocolate bar! I had color and highlights as well as a cut and my stylist spent a lot of time in consultation with me to insure she had a clear understanding of what I wanted. The head massage, hot towel wrap and cool eye mask that followed the hairwash was a welcome surprise and is just one example of the standout service offered by this salon. The results? 10 out of 10!!!

I absolutely LOVE it at Mae - all of it. Aja is the best (biased because she does my hair) but the entire staff is incredibly friendly and I feel at home every time I walk through the door. Drinks, check. Tattoos, check. Need an IV drip, they’ve got ya covered. Feeling lashy? Extend em! Bring your computer and stay on the clock while providing yourself with extensive self care. The events like parties, sound baths, and more are the icing on top of your favorite red velvet cake, let me tell ya! If you’re reading this review - make the appointment, you’ll never look back!

I can't say enough positive things about Mae Salon! The atmosphere is absolutely adorable and Kaylee is an amazing stylist. We immediately clicked and it was like chatting with an old friend. She truly listened to everything I wanted with my cut and helped me style and curl it. I usually hate cutting my hair because it never comes out right, but this time I truly loved it!! I finally found the perfect salon in Denver!

First off let me start by saying I hate going to get my hair done. But not at Mae. The environment is very relaxing. There are not overwhelming smells or sounds and I am genuinely able to relax and enjoy my experience. The space is warm and welcoming offering comfort, whimsy, and relaxation. I see all types and kinds of people at Mae and it feels so inclusive and welcoming. I’ve done regular haircuts, transformational cuts and even my wedding hair and makeup done by Aja at Mae. I feel so comforted knowing I never have to look for another salon. Thank you Mae for being such a wonderful space!

I cannot recommend Jess enough! She had been doing my hair for a few years now and she always makes me look so beautiful! So when I got married this year, I just new she had to be the one to help me get ready. From the Highlights to the style, everything was perfect. There aren't enough words to explain how amazing Kaylee is. I came into the salon with a mess of hair from a previous stylist. Kaylee took this challenge with patience, grace, education and understanding. She not only educated me on the current state of my hair, she explained every step of how she was going to transform my hair. And she did exactly that! Many hours and hundreds of foils later, she had my hair the perfect shade of livable blonde that I could ever ask for. She was so knowledgeable and professional with her approach, and I am still truly speechless anytime I catch a look of my hair. She truly transformed my hair to exactly what I imagined and prioritized the health of my hair over everything. Kaylee is understanding, patient, empathetic, knowledgeable, friendly, easy to talk to and made my experience at Mae the best possible. She is incredible at what she does and I am a customer for life! Thank you Kaylee! Also, Mae is modern, clean, has great amenities and has such a great vibe overall. The owner put a lot of time and work into making this salon a unique and personalized experience for all that enter.
