This morning I had a 8 am appointment at Magic Fingers Studio this is my third time. Joyce Howard is a excellent, fast, and very professional I will return again I am very pleased job well Done🙏🏾❤️

I don’t know why it’s so hard for black people when it comes to professionalism. I had a 1pm appointment with Jael today. I walked in exactly at 1pm. Greeted everyone and informed them that I had a hair appointment and with who. Two out of the four ladies there said “hi”. Eventually I sat down waited, after a few minutes I ask “is Jael here?” One of the hair dressers mumbles “yeah” (which wasn’t even Jael). I then wait another 15 minutes and still no one has came to greet me or even acknowledge that I was a paying client here for a service”. Eventually I asked again “I’m sorry, who is Jael?” To which she finally opens her mouth & say “me”. Keep in mind she still currently doing someone’s hair”. I then asked “how long will I have to wait” she replied “like 30 minutes”. Just so unprofessional! I would’ve waited if she actually greeted me and just let me know “hey can you give me some time” that would’ve been no problem. I have locs so my hair style wouldn’t take long at all, plus I had to go to work after which is why I booked for a specific time but just leaving me there and me having to ask repeatedly “who and where are you” is just not okay! Which I did say to her as well! Smh Some of you make it so hard to support black business.

Second time getting my hair done here. I wish I knew about this place years ago. I would have never let anyone else do my hair. The students are great. The atmosphere is wonderful and I feel that these students are the new work of art.

I had an appointment on September 22nd 2024 and it was so not worth it. A waste of my money and time. For the prices you charge and deposit. You need to make sure the beautician can back that up. Never again.

I've been purchasing combs and the Magic Hand helper, but over the past six months, two of the hand helpers broke. The material has become terrible all of a sudden. I reached out and spoke to someone who told me they would send a replacement. I provided my shipping address, then followed up to see if they received it. After that, I didn't hear anything from them. At this point, I'll look into something else.

Some people make it hard to support black businesses. I had an appointment at 9 am 1 week ago because I was going away on vacation. First of all, when I came in there was another hair stylist who came in the same time as I did and I told her i had an appointment with another stylist. She let me know that she was sitting in the back at her chair eating breakfast. The stylist I was scheduled with did not acknowledge or greet me. I had to approach her and said "good morning". That was very rude, no matter what you should always greet your customers. I had asked her about what time she will finish my hair because i had another appointment and she said approximately by 4 pm. However, she sounded shock like I wasn't supposed to have somewhere else to go. I am a very busy person, not your concern what I have going on. All I ask to have my hair done within a reasonable time. She took forever to wash my hair and kept kissing her teeth while she was braiding my hair. I was not rushing her, but i was antsy due to the fact that i was running late. This is just bad energy and I felt very uncomfortable. Also, this place overcharge for boho knotless braids. Still charged me about $20 in taxes Smh. There was also another time before that when it was my first time my hair was done by another stylist (Joyce) on a Sunday morning. All that stylist did was complained about how tired she was. I don't care how tired you are or what, customer service is a big deal and some people give off negative energy. They need to be retrained or find something that they are passionate about.

I had a great experience at this salon. I booked an early morning appointment the night before my service 👏🏾👏🏾 Admittedly, I struggled selecting the service that best suited my desired style on the website, but you can always call for clarification. My stylist, Gloria, was on time and started my hair promptly. The reviews said she was gentle. They were NOT lying. I classify myself as mildly tenderheaded but I felt no pain during the process. I got 6 stich braids into two low buns and absolutely love the look. Gloria did an amazing job! I don’t even live in NYC but would travel back just to have her braid my hair.

I booked jumbo knotless mid back with bohemian curls, but when i got there, Delisa said the curls didn't show up on her phone, but she did offer to curl my ends, which I was very pleased with. Next time, I will screenshot what I book before coming. The booking app sucks but Delisa did an amazing job! She did my baby hairs just the way I like them. Her customer service is on point! 10 out of 10! I will book with her again!

Gloria did my sons cornrows and she did an excellent job. He loved it ! The price was reasonable. This was our first time there and the salon is clean and highly recommended..

Reached on time for my 4:00 pm appointment with my hair washed looking forward to my 4.4 experience. The young lady was still doing hair and was ready for me 30 minutes later, things happen what can you do? Patience is a virtue I guess. I asked the lady if we could do more braids then previously discussed which was for four braids at a whopping price of $85 which I thought was pretty steep to begin with. I am a male and I seriously doubt my hair exceeds 3-4 inches. The young lady said no that I would have to make an appointment for that despite again, I came with my hair washed, waited 30 minutes past my said appointment time. I just said okay and at this point I was ready to go. While getting my hair done the young lady was on the phone numerous times discussing her prior engagements for the night. On a separate call someone must have been rushing her and she was like okay give me two minutes and also it appeared that she was texting as well. Overall I didn't like her response to my request after being 30 minutes late, plus the time it would have taken her to wash and dry my hair could have been taken into consideration but whatever that was going on later that night was more important than a quality experience. I did plan on returning before this experience but I would prefer going to spend my money with someone who appreciates my hard earned money, I don't even make $85 an hour. The young lady also had a disgusting condescending demeanor and I definitely will not be returning back as a result of my experience. I hope that in the future this young lady learns to prioritize better and understand that even though you don't own the business, you should treat it as your own. You are the representation of the business, and morally and ethically, you could have done better. What a disappointing experience.

Ebony did her thang! Great job braiding my daughters hair, and she's tender head. Nice professional staff. Very clean and friendly atmosphere. We live in Queens, but it's worth the trip to go there for hair service. I highly recommend this salon 👍🏾🙏🏾

The experience this time was not too good. I’ve did my hair a few times with Gloria she’s really good. But this time I had Joyce she texted me a few days earlier to let me know she do not do feed in braids she can only do stitch braids, I found that awkward why take the job? But I said ok. When I got there she stated she won’t be able to catch my hair because of the length and texture, the person next to her said if you do 10 braids you should be able to catch it but she states she cannot so we decided to do the small Knotless braids, it took 12 hours she kept complaining over my head which I did not like, keep it professional. Even though the braids don’t look bad, my hair is very heavy I believe she used too much hair it’s not comfortable so I will be taking it out. She was a nice person though. But I wasted my money and time.

I had my Stitch braids done by MIA today and she did an excellent job! My braids are neat and parts are straight and edges laid! I always go to Magic Fingers Studio in New York to get my braids done. Never disappoints!

I've been ordering products from this company for over a year now, literally spent thousands. Lately the quality has gon downhill. Recently I ordered a braid bib with my monthly jam and it took over 2 weeks to ship. Once I got the bib it was filthy with stains. I emailed customer service and got little to no help. I also let them know that the product in the local beauty supply is different than what's being sent from the website and there was no action or concern. This is your brand. Why not take pride in it?? I understand expanding your business but if you're going to do it at the cost of quality it's no point.

I've only been here once. My box braids were done exceptionally well. And the other women I observed getting their har done also left with nice looking braids. Quality of work does not appear to be an issue here. However, immediately upon entering, I was visually met with a vastly different reality from their online/social media appearance and persona. Online, the studio appears beautiful and clean. Sad to say, this is a dirty salon that is not well kept. The seats were clean and wiped down between clients. Combs appeared clean, but I did not see any barbicide sitting out (hopefully it was stored in the back). My stylist was great. She braided my hair perfectly and had a pleasant disposition (very neat and even parting; gentle braiding...hair was not pulled too tight). But wow, outside of my experience sitting in the chair, the place was just flat out dumpy. Blow dryers cords were caked in dust/dirt. The chairs and flooring were new (doesn't seem like they've been in the space for more than a few years), but the walls were dirty and dusty. The bathroom was unpleasant (not dirty per se, but not nice). Non-patrons walked in and out during the time I was there, which made for an unpleasant "beauty" experience. Two men were working on the boiler in the basement and walked in and out of the space (maybe schedule that appt during non-business hours?). Another man seemed to be working on something in the back of the salon. I also noticed that solicitors were allowed to enter the space attempting to sell stuff (maybe put a lock on your door and only allow patrons in), cuz this isn't the 90s and I seriously didn't know people still did that nonsense (remember how people would walk into salons trying to sell bootleg dvd's?). Getting your hair done isn't just about the service itself. It's also about the experience. My service was great, but the experience/environment here sucked. Since becoming an adult, I've created a habit of only going to nice salons, so this experience really took me out of my "norm". This is not a nice salon by any means, and the photos shown online are VERY deceiving. I don't need upscale or posh, I just need decent, and they failed in this department. They have been featured on Cosmopolitan's Youtube channel AND have their own hair braiding institute which are more reasons I thought this was a nice establishment, but it is sooo not. Also, they have a reception desk, but don't expect anyone to be sitting there to greet you when you enter. I had an uncomfortable entrance. Upon entering, I awkwardly stood near the door for a moment, unsure of who to speak to about my appt, and then one of the braiders (who was engaged in doing a client's hair) asked who my appt was with. I found my way over to a chair while I waited for my stylist to finish up with her client (only took a moment...very short wait). Overall, the owner presents a great image online but clearly does not take pride in maintaining or providing a good salon experience. Do not be fooled by what you see on Google Images, Instagram, or Youtube. This place could be outstanding if they cared about presentation and aligning their online persona with their in-person persona. A braiding shop with easy online scheduling, a good selection of braiders, a gentle approach to braiding, and what COULD be a nice salon experience? That's unique (although it shouldn't be) and valuable.

Magic Fingers Studio is the best. They are professional, courteous, and clean. The thing that I like the most is that when you arrive for your appointment your stylist/braider is waiting and expecting you. If your stylist is behind schedule they inform you ahead of time. My daughter has had her hair done there 3x and it's always done excellent. I know three ladies by name, Ebony, Mia, and Joanna but I can assure you that all the ladies do excellent hair. They take pride in their work while being gentle on the hair. They don't braid tight where you get white bumps or it's so tight you can't handle it. I could go on and on but I'll stop here.
