This place treat very nicely and politely, they work with the costumer to the best of their abilities. I have gotten my haircuts with Nelly and has always done a great job with my hair, Products are also very high quality and made from natural ingredients. All in all I see that everyone there treats each other well and they are there to help one another, and there is a very nice environment there.

Have always enjoyed getting the trim here when I’ve lived in Vegas. Atmosphere and staff are on point. A plus being in the heart of the arts district. See Nelly for a solid fade and great service. 💯👍🏼

Yes! Finally found a hair salon in Vegas that I love! I am a 40y man with long hair and needed someone who understands how to cut my perimeter without making my hair look like it belongs on a woman. Jen is absolutely amazing, listened carefully to my concerns and then explained very clearly how she was going to cut it. She delivered above and beyond! Not to mention the mind blowing head massage I got when she washed my hair. Oh and the place also just looks cool. You can’t go wrong with Jen and Makeshift Union!

I love this hair salon. I have had my fair share of bad haircuts, but I can truly trust the hairdressers here without leaving the hair salon crying. Chantal and Dee are seriously amazing.

I’ve been to Makeshift Union twice. Both times I’ve paid around $100 to receive an average haircut, and left feeling like I didn’t get the look or specific style I asked for. Over a year ago I made an appointment specifically for a wolf cut with a stylist who “specializes” in them. While blow drying my hair I asked the stylist what they’re doing so I can try at home and they told me, “I’ll explain what I’m doing but I doubt you’ll ever blowout your hair yourself like this.” Which I found the commentary odd. In the end I left with fairly typical layers and curtain bangs. But no where near the drastic layering of a wolf cut as requested (with photos for examples). A year later I return to get my hair cut after being too busy for a trim. I consult and send pictures to my stylist about freshening up my layers (not a wolf cut this time) and making them more prominent throughout my hair. I felt I made myself clear with the expectations and photos provided. However when I left I knew I wasn’t satisfied with the service I paid for. I waited a few days to see if I was overreacting and I would end up liking it. We all get the post haircut panic. But the more I looked the more I realized it was just a bad hair cut. My face framing bangs are two different lengths. I have two straight cut layers. Where my hair ends and another shelf of layer about two inches above that. Zero shorter layers. I lost a lot of length after trying to keep as much as possible within reason because I have to put it up for sports, which I mentioned. If anything it’s harder to put my hair up because it is all the same length and it’s very thick. I purposefully get layers to thin it out. To say the least I definitely cried over my hair, multiple times. Multiple people told me to go back and get it fixed, but I can’t because it’s almost too short now. Why would I go back if I can’t even get layers done properly? I didn’t wear my hair down for over a month because I couldn’t look at myself without hating my hair. I asked for a refund over two months ago and was told I would get one after expressing my concerns. I haven’t. I’d be hesitant to spend good money here for average service, unless you are positive they can give you what you want. I really wanted to be a regular here after so many people I know personally go here as well, but I don’t think I will be.

Highly recommend!! Buffalo Larry is a great guy and has an amazing facility there. Location is prefect and easy to get to right there in the Arts District. Dee is wonderful and took extra care of me. I haven't had a true hair cut in 10 years and was nervous to say the least. Her attention to detail and care that she puts into her work is something she should be very proud of. I appreciate you Dee! If you're looking for a new barber/stylist they do it all here and have a top notch staff overall!

I love getting a haircut and beard trim here. Excellent barbers, chill atmosphere. Unlike other cheaper quick cut places, these people are all experienced and very good at what they do. It's well worth a visit.

Crystal B did SUCH a great job with my 14-year-old son who has major haircut anxiety and very particular expectations. Crystal picked up on the vibe quickly and was friendly and patient and made my kid feel comfortable. My kid loved the cut. Crystal even gave us the particular measurements to bring to the next barber since we’re not from around here. Otherwise, we’d come see Crystal again!

I had an amazing experience at Makeshift Union! From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with warm smiles, a great vibe and a relaxing atmosphere. The staff is incredibly professional and talented. Dee did an outstanding job with my haircut/color/style and truly listened to what I wanted and offered great suggestions. Nelly was absolutely fantastic! I was really nervous to finally commit to clipping the sides of my bob down to expand my undercut and further de-bulk my hair, and Nelly executed my request with skilled perfection. This place is great, but Crystal is fantastic! She takes great care of my daughter and me. I have a difficult time finding someone who understands my hair and she gets it. My daughter keeps smiling when she sees herself in the mirror. Crystal made her feel very special. Highly recommend.

If you're looking for a "funky" hairstyle, you might want to go in for a consultation before you book an appointment, even if it's with a 'level 3' hair stylist, otherwise you'll get turned away if they don't feel comfortable doing it.Never had an experience like this before, but thought I'd write about it for those looking for a service in the future. This salon has great reviews, so I figured this would be the perfect place to visit. Of the options listed on the website, I selected 'individual cut', and then 'women's cut'. There wasn't a section to describe the desired style, not that I thought it was necessary , but after the experience I had, it might be worth adding to the website for future clients. You can then select your stylists who are categorized into levels, I'm assuming by qualification. I chose a level 3, but I figured anyone would be able to do the cut. When I arrived, I showed the stylist pictures and described what I wanted, but they didn't feel comfortable and decided to pass me onto another stylist. It wasn't what they 'usually did', and that they'd have another stylist who would be a better fit. However, I was visiting Las Vegas, and couldn't accommodate the schedule change: here in lies the issue. If your stylist doesn't feel like they can do they haircut, perhaps they should be categorized into the corresponding level that meets their capabilities. Otherwise, it's a huge inconvenience to tourists predominantly, which I'm assuming is a good chunk of their business. I was very disappointed, but they did return the deposit. In the future, I would suggest either adding a description box for the desired haircut, so they can determine if they'll be able to handle it, or pass it off, as was the situation with me. Or, have an option for a consultation. I'm sure they're good at what they do when they have the opportunity, but the structure of how they book appointments, and how they classify their stylists according to their abilities should be revised. Especially in a tourist town with potential clients who have limited schedules. Also, the gendered options shouldn't even be there in my opinion. I have since booked an appointment with a location in my hometown on their website that had a description section, and didn't ask if it was going to be a woman or man's haircut. Disappointing experience.

From the first time I went to him, I knew that I was going to be a loyal customer. Can't recommend enough!! And Larry, the owner, who did NOT touch my hair, even said welcome back during my next appointment!

I love coming here. The vibes are immaculate and the staff is so friendly and helpful. I strongly recommend Stephanie to everyone. She is an expert in hairdressing and knows the latest trends in the industry. After getting my hair colored, cut and styled,lshe suggested to me the best yet affordable aftercare products and my hair is grateful! I have been visiting her for a couple of years now and there is always consistency in her work!

I was visiting Vegas with my wife and wanted to find a place my wife could get her highlights redone and I could get my haircut. Just about every where was booked but makeshift luckily had availability for the both of us. Vince was my barber, I showed him some pictures as references and tried explaining the best I could as to what I was wanting. He even asked questions and gave me suggestions before we started which I loved because It really showed me that he was truly wanting to make sure we were both on the same page versus the last 3 or 4 haircuts I have gotten at other places I try to show them and explain and it never turns out to be what I even want remotely since they just run with what they think. I wish there were more barber shops that gave thorough consultations before the beginning of your haircut like Makeshift does to make sure the client walks away with what they want. Upscale shop with hipster vibes and high quality service providers. Awesome operator! My go to for a year now. Hot towels, beer, head wash/rub and your favorite haircut and beard trimming. They do walk ins, but make sure to make appointment to be on top of your schedule tho!

I love this place! Everyone I've ever had contact with in this shop is so nice and friendly. I work with Haley every time I come here and she's amazing and we always have great conversation while she's doing my hair. She's super thorough and makes sure we are on the same page with color/toner/cut before we do anything which is a super nice change from my old stylist. She always gives me exactly what I'm looking for as well as discussing options for concerns I have regarding dry/itchy scalp and things that can help with that. The business itself is super clean and nicely decorated. They always offer something to drink and check on you frequently if you have color processing or something. It's also in a great location where you can go show off your new cut at a nearby restaurant afterwards! 10/10 definitely recommend this place and Haley if you're looking for a new stylist!

I was excited to try this place, but my afternoon was totally wasted. I called ahead to book my appointment, told them what service I wanted, and was specifically told the stylist would block time for a consult and the service. When I arrived the stylist told me she did not block off time to do my hair and only had time for a consult. I was told to book the service on another day, and I never did get a price quote. I don’t understand the point of having a customer drive downtown and pay for parking just to have a stylist ask what you want done. Total waste of time.

I've had my hair cut by Mel twice now and I'm happy to have found her! She takes the time to listen to what you want and creates something that works with your hair type. I finally got the shag cut that I've been wanting for several years! The shop has a cool vintage yet comfortable/come as you are vibe.

I want to say, Larry, Dee, and Halley are the BEST. I went in to have my hair highlighted and cut and let's just say, it wasn't what I asked for. When I got home I called Larry (the owner) and told him how upset I was, he listened, and validated my feelings and had me come in the next day to have two others fix my hair. Halley and Dee hit it outside the park on this one. Not only did they fix my hair they made it look amazing (at no charge). They were super nice and caring when I came back to have it fixed and they didn't make me feel uncomfortable in anyway, in fact, they made me feel like a VIP. Their customer service and dedication to their reputation are 1 in a million. I recommend this place 100%, the great work, the super cool atmosphere, and the awesome music playing in the back ground is a win win.
