They are closed. Shame on them for not making it obvious on their booking site before we payed 2k to stay there. Apparently all of the spas at universal premium hotels have been closed.

Mediocre experience … and very underwhelmed by facility , which had a cold and dingy feel to it ..the decor was nonexistent after you got into the locker room .. the hot tub spa was the scariest .. the ceiling was dirty and dingy .. weird green stuff oozing out from the shower in there and the walls were dirty .. the showers in the locker room were also very dirty feeling .. metal garbage cans in the shower that were rusted .. rusty door frames .. old tile floors .. broken lockers ..it looks like that place hasn’t been updated or painted in decades .. didn’t feel like a spa at all in there .. couldn’t wait to leave.. non of the sitting areas were really that comfy and it was so bright in there felt like a high school locker room .. the Staff was very nice and accommodating but when I asked for a champagne , she told me not till we were done which to me is not spa like at all ..my massage was nothing to get excited about either .. the movements and rhythm were all over the place and I didn’t really get to fully relax . she would start out fast and slow down in an area and that was it .. when applying the oil on me , I felt like she was rushing the whole time .. sloping the oil on my back and swishing it around like a 5 year old doing finger painting .. the last thing that really made me uncomfortable was the fact when she asked me to roll over on my back she dangled my mask in my face and said to put it on then proceeded to put a towel over my whole face with the mask too .. felt like being suffocated .. I know we need to be safe but that was def a first for me .. I will never recommend or go back .. but hey guess that’s what I should expect from a theme park hotel spa

My fiancé went in to Mandara Spa to have her hair double braided to fight the Florida heat. We worked with Glenda and she was absolutely wonderful! Super personable, knowledgeable, and absolutely killed the service she provided! After swimming and rollercoasters of 3 different parks the braids still help up but went back later in the week to have them rebranded before we left because she did such a great job 11/10!

My husband and I decided on a set budget if I wanted to get a massage while on vacation. The massage was $10 over that budget and we agree that we could splurge a little. When I went to make the reservation online, their pricing had gone up $30. Which is not reflected on the website. I called hoping they would honour the pricing that is advertised and they wouldn’t allow it. As you see in the screenshot, it is advertised as $160 but booking online is $190. I was so sad to miss out.

My experience at the Salon within the Mandara Spa (signature hair cut and color correct) with Gelinda was amazing! I left the Spa a brand new person, literally! Gelinda was wonderful, the way she worked with me on my vision for my hair and guiding me through the process in a warm, friendly way made my experience unforgettable! Each staff member I encountered was kind and helpful during my time there and the Spa lounge area was a peaceful retreat (tip for book lovers: there are some comfy lounge chaises in the women’s lounge - so don’t forget to bring your own book!)

Had an incredible girls' day at Mandara Spa, Portofino Bay, Orlando! The staff went above and beyond to make it memorable. Do not go here - as you can see from the other reviews this is not a Spa!! They don't treat you as such. Although my actual masseuse was great - the Manager (Nina) and the front desk girls are of no help. I sadly (and by accident) left very meaningful bracelets and a necklace in my pocket of my robe - I completely forgot and left and called about 2 hours after when I noticed they were gone. They told me they would "look" and follow up with me. I never recieved a follow up phone call that night so I called back.. they said that they had not found anything, probably because they DIDNT LOOK!!! I put my robe in one of the dirty clothes bins which is lined with a clear plastic garbage bag there is no way they couldnt find it - so then the next day, still no follow up call, instead they let me know that they already sent the laundry out knowing my jewelry was missing! The manager called me and told me that she "personally" looked - I dont believe that because I know if they really cared and looked they would have found my special pieces :( I even went to the spa the next day and they would let me look even - just super disappointed and upset. I would not recommend due to poor customer service / the fact that they dont care. I mean look - they dont even respond to all the negative reviews they get. End rant

Fat Shaming Spa We were fat shamed. My sister, cousin and I went there this past week for a relaxing spa day for my cousins birthday. I’m an XL, and my cousin is a 3XL. We’re by all means not small women. We know that. But what we don’t need is someone saying we won’t fit in their robes. Everything was fine when we checked in. When we were brought to the locker room a woman came in and tells me, “I changed your robe for the bigger one, it should fit.” She then tells my cousin, “I changed yours too but it might not fit. We don’t have anything bigger than 2X.” She kept carrying on and on about the size of the robes and repeating that it wouldn’t fit my cousin. Like lady, just change the robes and leave. It was very embarrassing. Especially because other clients were in the space with us. It was humiliating. I have never encountered anything like this before. The three of us spent over $900 there just to be fat shamed. I normally wouldn’t say anything but the past few days it’s all I keep thinking about and I don’t want it to happen to the next thick woman. I also tried numerous times to reach out to the manager to express my concern. No response from them.

Went to the spa for a massage as gift. The spa area was dirty and could use a good clean. The waiting area the receptionist had me wait in was the most uncomfortable bench I had ever sat on. I would have preferred a folding chair to relax in rather than seating provided. My massage started a few minutes late and then finished a few minutes early. I was gifted a 75 min massage and was out of the spa before the 75min was up. I’m just disappointed in the whole experience for the cost of the massages. Would not recommend!

Had a 90 minute then 60 minute deep tissue massage with Bill. If he had availability I would have gone every day. Having had massages all over the world from the Meurice in Paris to the Ritz Carlton in Naples no one has compared to the treatment with Bill. I hope Mandara realizes what a gem they have in him. Wherever we stay each year in Orlando I will not be farther than a quick Uber ride away. Thank you so much Bill!!!

I decided to treat my girl last weekend. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed our facials and massages. The staff were all very kind and considerate, especially sofia. I do believe the prices were a bit high for what it is, as we've been to much nicer spas for the same if not a bit cheaper. It seemed a bit dingy and not very well maintained, kinda ugly, my girl was not at all impressed with the decor and mentioned feeling we were at a strip mall rather than at the Portofino! Some of the rooms were little nice but we probably will seek out something better in the area.

I went for the spa pedicure. My polish looks good, my calluses are much softer, and I enjoyed myself - but the overall experience is just meh. It it extremely overpriced.

Went to the spa for a gel manicure and pedicure in December. The staff person was friendly but the quality of the mani/pedi was really poor, especially for the price. The spa itself is a bit shabby. Manicure was particularly unpleasant because you sit in front of the spa near the front desk. I could hear staff bad mouthing other customers who were scheduling/cancelling appointments that day. Overall off putting, expensive experience for a terrible mani and pedi.

Came here for a girls spa day with my mom and aunt. The spa was amazing. We had food delivered to the women’s lounge. We spent a few hours between the sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi. The we had a Balinese massage and finished with a glass of champagne, definitely recommend.

I got a Deep Tissue w/hot stone massage, while it wasn't as deep as I normally like the overall massage was amazing, good technique, I was very relaxed and felt relief after. Recommend Lillian.

I live locally and love going to spas. This was an amazing experience for my 2 best friends and I. We were celebrating one persons 50th birthday. From the moment we arrived our valet Renada was so sweet and energetic she even remembered my name when we were leaving and ran to get our car as soon as she saw us. Then we were greeted at the hotel lobby by a staff member who was so sweet and happy to show us how to get to the spa. The spa itself was very pretty, smelled great and had great staff and massage therapists. Lots of great touches (comfy robes, nice sauna/steam room and jacuzzi and the mimosas at the end were a great finishing touch). We felt we were treated very well throughout or whole experience. The price was what I typically pay at nice resort hotel spas so no shock there, and they validated the parking which was a classy touch. I suggest going in the morning (we had the whole spa to ourselves for the first 30minutes). I’ve been to several of the local resort spas and this is one I Definitely will be returning to.

My husband and I had our nails done right before our wedding day at the parks at Mandara Spa and had the most amazing welcoming experience ever! All the staff were so kind and friendly and made sure our time there was so relaxing and my nails looked beautiful on my wedding day. I can’t wait to go to Mandara Spa again the next time we stay at Universal, highly recommend!

Overall extremely disappointed in this spa. The total cost of a couples 75 minute massage was $550. They only ended up massaging us for 60 minutes and it seemed a lot of the time spent in the massage was the therapist walking around the room to grab something..or doing things like scratching my skin with a brush…just doing things that weren’t enjoyable but take up time. There is nothing overly fancy about the facility for the price they charge. Literally just save your money and go get an $80 massage from the Asian massage outside of the resort. I didn’t say anything right after the massage because they were closing(literally closing out their drawer as we were leaving) and the therapists were super nice so I didn’t want to have the confrontation right that moment but I did call just as soon as they opened the next day. I’ve called several times with promises that the supervisor will call me back but I have received no calls. I should have read the reviews before booking but I assumed for the price and the fact that it is a nicer hotel that I wouldn’t have these issues. Hopefully this review saves someone some money. Happy birthday to me right? Shame.

Received and a gel manicure and pedicure. While the staff was super nice, I ended up with poorly done manicure. My nails are different shapes, which is most noticeable on my pinky nails. Then even though it’s only been a day my nails have already started peeling. Normally gel nails last at least two weeks before I start to see this. Furthermore the interior in the spa is not as luxurious as advertised. Honestly the price tag just doesn’t match my experience. But I will say the staff is very nice and that helped make the experience better. I had no issues with my pedicure.

Spa is excellent. Dolsie is extremely kind and has been an amazing help here at the spa. She has went above and beyond the call of duty. It is rare to find someone as helpful as she is and I'm very thankful she works here. The gym attached to the spa has been remodeled with new equipment and for a hotel gym it is great. Dumbbells up to 75lbs, cable machine, Smith machine, leg press, chest press and 2 benches. My wife got a deep tissue massage and said it was great.

We got a couples massage today (11/14/2022) and it was incredible! The staff was awesome, they keep your belongings safe in your own private locker, and have all the amenities there that you could possibly think of i.e. tooth brushes, combs, hair brush, towels, razors, shaving cream, etc… The massage was incredible and they treat you like royalty the whole time! Most of the negative reviews I read were about pricing, so I’ll just say this… the pricing is on their website and they’re offering a service, IT COSTS MONEY! You’re spending over $1,000 a night at the hotel and people are whining about $500 for a 2.5 hour massage. If you’re that cheap, go elsewhere and spend $60 for a subpar massage. Unfortunately in business, sometimes things break down. It’s life and things happen. Get over it. Luckily, nothing was broken or shut down for us. Last thing, a woman that gave a negative review said that it was $550 for a couples massage… I got one today and i believe it was $430 and I got a deep tissue upgrade and we both got the paraffin wax treatment. If it cost her $550, she had them do a ton of extra stuff like the paraffin wax on her feet, an upgraded massage such as a deep tissue, and other add-ons. That was not the businesses fault for her choices. You’re in good hands here. Truly.

We have gone here for 20 years. Usually great. But....Lots of issues any time there is a problem....which is every 3-4 years. This year one of our upgrades we paid for, they didn't do. They said they would adjust the bill...obviously. But then they didn't. And anytime there is a problem that's what happens. Full bill then a fight. It is really annoying and had been happening for decades. So I doubt it is a fluke but a policy to make guests pay as much as possible and then hard to get your money back.
