Lisaundra is AMAZING!! I last went to her in 2022 for a haidcut + a partial highlight in the color blue. She delivered EXACTLY what had envisioned with the exact shade of blue I had asked for. She ended it with a blowdry that was also awesome. Fast forward to last weekend, I went back with wanting to dye my hair but unsure of the color. She gave me some advice & direction, and let me tell you when I say I trust this woman, I FULLY trust her. She gave me a balayage style in purple. LOVEEE. I have curly hair and for as long as I could remember, I couldn’t find the right products nor routine that made my hair look nice. Lisaundra changed that, and she took the time to explain different types of products recommended for my fine, thin hair. She even went out of her way to SHOW me how to take care of my hair with a simple routine after washing it. My hair has never looked so good, and I am forever grateful for Lisaundra and her expertise in both color & curly hair. I feel so happy and confident because of her!!! I’m so happy to say that I found my stylist 💛

Not a great experience my first and only time here. The front desk person washed my hair with ice cold water, told me they put in some treatment with no details, then grabbed their bag and left for the day. I sat there for 15+ minutes confused and with wet hair before my stylist even acknowledged me as she was working with another client at the same time as my appointment. I shared pictures and said I wanted layers that were NOT blunt and I got layers that are extremely blunt which were hidden by wavy styling at the salon and which I was only able to see after straightening at home. I said I didn't want face framing layers and the hair at the front was cut short anyway and can't be pulled back into a pony tail which I was specifically avoiding. A mid length cut took almost two hours and looks objectively bad. EDIT 7 months later: I still think about how weird and upsetting this haircut was.

Joanna has done a miracle on my hair! Before seeing Joanna, my hair was so damaged everytime I would brush it, it felt like a workout. Now I can run my fingers through it and it's so much healthier. Throughout this year she has done a bayalage, purple/red and now I'm back to my natural color....for now lol It such a great atmosphere and for the life of me I cannot remember the girl that shampooed my hair this past visit. But she made me feel so relaxed while she shampooed my hair. I def recommend Joanna & Mane Refinery.

I just made my 2 year mark going to Mane Refinery! Joanna is the best , she listens to what I want and never disappoints. Joanna and her entire staff are so friendly and welcoming. I feel like part of the Salon family.

Allie. Saved. My. Hair My hair was in bad shape and by the grace of all things good, I met Allie at Mane Refinery. She completely understood what I needed, made me feel comfortable and has never disappointed since. The owner and the entire staff are welcoming and take great care in their work. Highly recommend :)

I always strive to support local businesses, but my experiences at Mane Refinery Salon have been nothing short of disappointing. I strongly **DO NOT** recommend this salon to anyone seeking blonding services or any high-quality hair care for that matter. First Experience: I booked a full balayage and haircut, expecting a professional service given the salon’s reputation. What I received was far from what I asked for—the color was off, and the overall result was completely unsatisfactory. To their credit, the owner reached out to me personally after I voiced my concerns and invited me back to fix the issues. While I appreciated the gesture, the correction still took an additional 4-5 hours, bringing my total time spent to 8-9 hours. Even then, the outcome was just okay—certainly not what I should have had to endure so much time and effort for. Second Experience: Despite my initial disappointment, I decided to give Mane Refinery Salon another chance, hoping that my first visit was an exception rather than the norm. Unfortunately, this turned out to be an even worse experience. After spending several hours on my hair, the result was again not what I requested. I returned the next day for a correction, where I was assured they could lighten my hair as I had originally asked. However, the results were far from blonde—my hair was left with a brown/orange tone that was completely off the mark. Despite the staff’s kindness, it was clear they lacked the expertise to deliver the color I desired. Overall: In total, I’ve spent an exhausting 16 hours at this salon, and I am left feeling deeply frustrated and disappointed. The time wasted is one thing, but the fact that I was charged premium prices for subpar services makes this experience even more disheartening. For a service that should bring joy and satisfaction, this was an incredibly stressful and unsatisfying ordeal. If you’re considering this salon for any blonding services or expect a professional outcome, I would strongly urge you to look elsewhere. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration.

Blanca did an amazing job cutting my hair to a stylish pixie. It is not an easy cut to do right and I am very pleased how well it looks. Highly recommend Blanca and this solon .

Highly recommend! I loved my experience at the Mane Refinery Salon. This is definitely a hidden gem in the neighborhood. The atmosphere was very welcoming, friendly and pleasant thanks to Allie. Allie did an amazing job with my haircut and perfectly captured the look I was going for. She is a super talented professional and a wonderful person. I’m so happy with the result!

Allie is a new addition to Mane Refinery but her talent & passion proceeds many of old school artists in Chicago. I came to Allie with about 6 months of growth of my 11 years of red died hair. She was able to achieve my modernized classic colors the way I had requested from her. She is super detail orientated and did not miss a SINGLE strand of my hair that we were lifting to a Bardot blonde. The other half of my head, which proved to be a little stubborn based on the abuse it received in the past, was brought to a warm auburn. Also, maybe Im tough, but the bleaching process…did not hurt/itch/burn at all. It literally just felt like i was just using a peppermint shampoo (which is wild if youre familiar with the bleaching process.) They also use Amika and Kevin Murphy products here which I love. Allie thank you for your patience, professionalism, fun, and comfort levels you provided me. I was nervous with such a big change, thanks for this great experience!

I had my long hair shaved to a buzzcut here by Lauren and I couldn’t have asked for a more fun and amazing hairstylist to do that with! Unfortunately I had to move or else I would have continued coming back for Lauren!

I stumbled upon this salon and I am so incredibly happy I did. I had Lisaundra (probably misspelled that) as my stylist and she gave me EXACTLY what I was asking for. I had a very grown out pink money-piece. I needed the roots and color touched up. She went above and beyond. I am super picky about my hair (after not coloring it for 10 years!) and she gave me EXACTLY what I wanted. I couldn’t be happier. Also, big props to the fact that she blow dryed my hair SO GOOD. My hair is naturally curly and every stylist usually leave my sides (edges) looking half blow dried. She did AMAZING and got every piece to look fabulous

Allie has been doing my hair for a couple months now and i leave everytime feeling beautiful and happy! Not only is she incredibly talented, she is also one of the sweetest people I’ve met! The salon itself is clean and bright. The other ladies in the salon are so friendly and welcoming and I’m always excited to come in to get my hair done! Don’t sleep on this salon

I don't remember if I left a review before but I certainly had to because I absolutely love this place. My bestfriend recommended this place to me and we get similar services done. I went in February 2023 to get the bold money piece done (bright pink). The entire staff was so welcoming, and Lisaundra is knowledge and attentive. She was able to walk me through the process and gave me really great results! I loved my hair so much after I keep going back, and I'm still not over the money piece. I highly recommend this salon.

The staff at Mane Refinery Salon is excellent - professional and friendly. Online scheduling is a breeze, and their hours to accommodate evening and weekend appointments are appreciated. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Blanca, Joanna and Allie; they have all delivered in meeting my hair care needs. The service prices are very reasonable and the salon has overall been a lovely addition to the neighborhood!

Was visiting from out of town and stumbled upon this salon for a last minute blowout and def didn’t disappoint. Everyone was so friendly there!! My hairstylist Blanca was super nice! If/when I visit again, will def go back to this place for any hair services!!!

I had passed by this salon a few times since I lived near the area and never went in but woooah was that a mistake. Lauren Ryan colored my hair after I messed it up completely using box hair dye. I came in looking like a wreck and she fixed EVERYTHING! I've never been more happy with a color and a cut, I use to be a big client at Art and Science Wicker Park but not anymore! Would definitely recommend this salon, everyone is super accommodating and kind, the vibe is great!
