Ask for Kyong! She specializes in color, cut, barber, perms, style, wash, and more. Also, she is Korean and can do Korean hairstyles. I get my hair trimmed and deep conditioned every few months with Kyong and she always puts so much care into her work. I can tell she loves what she does and takes pride in making sure she delivers exactly what you need. Thank you so much for making my hair beautiful!!

Been going here for as long as I started caring about how my hair looked! Only person I trust to cut my hair. Styles it perfectly, always offers me hair care advice, and has the best service. Everytime I go to someone else I regret not just staying with Manivahn.

I had a bad experienced of this salon .. I did brazilian blow out and charging me the hair cut which i did not asked. So All in all i paid $425 not included the tip.. while She was doing the first procedure of my hair she even burned my scalp while using the flat iron… then wash my hair and just do the flat iron again … so The next day i wash my hair and the result was very disappointing coz my hair was more frizzy than it was… i called her and ahe just told Me that nothing she can do anymore and she just sent me picture of the oil and said that this product will smoothen my hair…my hair keeps falling everytime i washed it and combed it.. i was so scared because my hair was brittled the whole front of my hair.. until now my hair fall everytime i comb it… its been a month already but my hair still dry and more frizzy very worst ... the amount of money i paid wasnt worth it at all..the front of my hair and the side were all brittle.. i dont think if she knows what her doing … coming to this salon is a waste of Money…she said i will make it straight and shiny … but guess what ?.. it looks worst than it was..very disappointing.. i even scared to comb or touch my hair coz its everytime i do it i get ampled hair in my hand and its very depressing…

I live in Richmond and come to Va Beach to visit family often. While I’m here I also visit Manivahn Hair Salon, even though there are plenty of options in Richmond. They know exactly how to cut my hair without me knowing what I need myself. It’s fast and affordable as well as very convenient. Great salon. 👍🏽

I was going to wait until sunday to post a review of the brazilian blowout i got today, but it cant wait. I had a less than desirable experience getting a brazilian straightening blowout done on my wavy hair.The woman that did my hair was nice, but she did not inform me of the price of the blowout before she started, leaving me to think I would be paying $195 maybe $250 max. When we went through the first round of flat ironing my hair, the left side of my head got steam burned and some parts of the nape of my neck. Then it was time to do the final flat iron, she left me looking disheveled. The body of my hair was silky smooth, but all the hair around my front and back hair line was a combination of crispy, kinked in multiple placed and/or sticking straight out (with kinks). She completely missed straightening the roots on the sides of my head all along my ear, and all along the nape of my neck. All those places were kinked and bushed up. My bangs have not relaxed and are sticking way away from my face. I fixed most of these issues myself when I got home and hopefully they stay fixed, but the kicker of all this was I was charged $375. Again, I wasn't quoted before I sat down. Needless to say when I found all these issues after paying and getting home, I felt this was definitely not worth $375 (tip not included). I will not be returning. ***Update: I have washed my hair after the treatment and it is 10 times worse than it was before. It is frizzier than my natural hair, extremely coarse, and it is kinked everywhere. Most strands are kinked or curled and bushed up. Now I absolutely HAVE to straightening my hair every single day. ********Second update******** It's been three weeks since getting a brazilian blowout from this salon and I have lost so much hair. I have lost CLUMPS of hair at a time everytime I've brushed or washed my hair. I have lost close to half the bulk of my hair. My hair still continues to fall out in excessive amounts. The hair that's left is coarse and hard to manage/shape. I absolutely have to straighten and blow dry my hair and try to get it into a decent shape to make it look somewhat natural. Most of the hairs are still kinked in sharp angles. I paid the ultimate price putting my trust in this salon.

Worst ever! Went in for blonde highlights and low lights. I wanted more light blonde than light brown. Got dark brown roots and patchy highlights. I was way over charged! I could deal with that if it was a good job. Will never go back, unreal!

their prices online do not match what they tell you when you arrive for your appointment. I have blonde hair and wanted to get all over high lights. I was told $275 when I sat down which is not what there website reflects .My hair is not long and very thin .It was very disappointing do be told that price and when I told her that's not what her website says her response was "I don't know what my website says" I understand that having your hair done comes with a price but its not right to give customers false advertisement , I think they need to update their website. Highlights or Lowlights: $165+ Dimensional Highlights: $195+ Ombre or Balayage: $195+

Best experience! I went in having no experience with a Brazilian Blowout, she talked me through the process and made me feel very comfortable. It’s been 3 months and I’m due to go back. My hair has held out beautifully! She even helped with my thinning hair. Definitely going back. 🥰

We were looking for someone to cut our son's curly wavy hair, we have two teenage boys, not only did Manivahn accept walk-ins , which worked out great with there's school and work schedule, she does a great job and now the boys are recommending her to their friends. Thank you you are amazing.

Had a Brazilian blowout treatment a few weeks ago. I had a good experience overall. She gave me great information on the proper way to take care of my hair post treatment. I have gotten so many compliments on my hair. Even a few weeks later, it looks and feels great with minimal breakage. Prices were comparable to salons in the area $200 is what I paid, not including tip. Can't wait to go back for the next treatment.

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received at the salon. The service has left me with scalp burns. I received a Brazilian blowout which has damaged my hair severely. The service cost $375. I do not recommend, and will not return to this hair salon again.

I was in desperate need of help with my hair. As soon as I sat down she knew what I needed to get my hair back into shape after is had been neglected in fear from a bad experience. Mani did such an incredible job on my hair! I have naturally curly/wavy hair with a lot of body, and she not only cut it to the length I requested, she also took a lot of the bulk out. She is such a gem, and I will absolutely be back to see her!

WOW! WOW! WOW! 10 STARS & BEYOND!!! Mani is soooo nice & doing hair over 20 yrs, she obviously KNOWS what she is doing! She took me for a last minute walk in on a Sunday. She is SO understanding. I was feeling down &needed a change right away. I've very dark thick Asian hair. Color is VERY difficult for my hair. I wanted the highlights GONE! She took her time & stayed late for me (idk anyone who has ever done that for me or a new client) Feels like home sitting in her chair. I'm VERY thankful for her time. REALLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! Never going any where else. She has a new client for life now 😁😁😁 Mani, if u read this, you are stuck with me 😘

Incredible experience at Manivahn! Walked-in day-of not expecting availability, but Manivahn herself was able to see me that very day. As a typical guy, my hair is stubbornly course & wavy so I was very impressed by the keratin treatment she recommended which left my hair feeling smooth, straight, & much more manageable! 10/10 would recommend Mani to anyone looking for an experienced, knowledgeable, and friendly stylist. Mani is an awesome owner with more than 22 years of hair styling.! I was astonished and amazed me being a young man having long hair told me how to take care of my hair, while she was getting my daughter's hair good to go for prom. She gave me a shampoo and conditioner to use and showed me the techniques to keep in my hair healthy shiny cuz she said it looked dead. Mani thank you so much 4 for putting highlights in my daughter's hair it came out amazing! Highly recommend.

PLEASE READ TILL THE END: I was torn trying to write this review as the positives outweighed the negative. First the service was not done to me, it was for my 13yr old daughter. I was very excited to try this salon due to the wonderful reviews it had gotten thus far. When we arrived, I saw the fees right away, it's $35 for a haircut. A bit higher than i was expecting but was willing to give it a try. It also stated that it will be extra for longer hair (which she had longer hair) and extra for drying and styling which i wasnt concern of because i didn't ask for it to be dried and/or styled). So i knew it would be extra for longer hair. Anyways, we were greeted happily and she was seen right away. We didn't have a picture of what she wanted done but I believe it was explained well. She understood what my daughter wanted. She took the time to listen SHE DELIVERED VERY WELL! My daughter was happy and satisfied and so was I. Even before she finished, I was telling my other daughter I think we found the right hair dresser for them. I was ready to make an appt for my younger daughter and I did. Even for myself as well. Mind you, we made those appts even before paying as we were hoping to be seen if her next appt didn't show. After she seemed to have finished cutting my daughter's hair, (she has curly hair, mixed hair) she told my daughter "im going to blow dry your hair straight to make sure it's cut evenly." I heard her say that as well, I went up to her during it and asked her, "oh youre drying it straight to make sure it's cut evenly?" And she proceeded and said yes to make sure it's even. So I sat back down. Again, she finished and it looked beautiful!!! She did a great job honestly! My disappointment came as we were waiting hoping to get my other daughters hair cut before we left. I didn't pay yet so I asked her how much and she said $75. 😳 I was so shocked, looked at the sign again and told her I thought it was $35 and I figured extra because her hair was longer. And she said extra for drying and styling. I was very shocked. I did tell her I didn't ask for that and thought she was doing it because she needed to see to make sure it was evenly cut but ya, she politely said no it was because she dried and styled it and plus longer hair. That's when I told her sorry I'm not gonna get my other daughter's hair cut now as that's too much. I paid it, but quite honestly, I didn't asked for it to be dried and styled. As a matter of fact, my daughter wanted it curly so as soon as we came home, she took a bath and washed her hair and styled it curly. I would not have minded paying the $75 happily if I expected it, but I didn't ask for it and therefore should not have been charged extra. After the tip and taxes, it came out to almost $83. That's just a lot of unexpected. But I can't deny her talent. She's a great hairdresser. I just wished she was fair in her fees.
