If I could give 10 stars, I would! Judie is amazing and very knowledgeable. She helped me understand my hair and really paid attention to my hair needs. I felt so much better going home with what she taught me. I am truly grateful for this new journey of loving my hair. I will be back, and did I mention how excited I am !!! Update!!!! I have been adjusting to doing my hair in between visits with Judie. It has definitely been a learning curve, but I was finally able to take care of my hair x get color. I love my balayage x Judie knows her stuff!!

Judie is super sweet and very knowledgeable about curly hair. At my 1st appointment Judie took the time to explain my hair texture and discussed the steps she was taking while she did my hair. She told me what I needed to do on my own to improve my curls over time. She even encouraged me to bring all my hair products and went through each product and explained what I should keep, give away or toss because the product was complete garbage and not good for anyone. If you are fortunate enough to get an her books (she is super busy and has waitlist) and follow her instructions, the results will be amazing. It's been 5 months since I partnered with Judie and my hair has tranformed. People constantly tell me how pretty my curls are.

It took me a long time to find a curl specialist for natural hair and even after finding one I am still learning styling, technique and products. If you are looking for a stylist that will not only help you with your healthy hair journey but teach you how to carry information learned in your sessions home with you. Marabou Curls is the place, and Judie is phenomenal. Don't sleep on this because quality, informed stylist are booking up because their receipts are speaking truth. I only wish I had found her sooner.

This is the most unprofessional establishment that I have experienced by far since I have been here. There patrons are not of any importance here, and no matter what you say, they will not listen. Good luck trying to schedule an appointment here because you are not important enough for them to answer the phone. I know this because they have said it.

I can honestly say that my experience at Marabou Curls and Beyond Salon was the best salon experience I have ever had. Judie took her time and educated me on the products I was using and the impact these products were having on my hair. She answered all of my questions and made recommendations for me and my daughter. She is very knowledgeable of natural hair and cut and styled my hair beautifully. I received many compliments after leaving her salon. I would definitely recommend Judie.

Judie has been a God send! I first brought my daughter to her as we had transitioned from braids as her primary style to wanting to wear her hair out. I had done her hair for 15 years but knew I needed professional assistance for wearing it out. The amount of knowledge and personalized detail that Judie provided for her gave her the confidence and tools to enter high school with all her curls popping!! My journey was different. I have been natural for 10 years and was told that I didn’t have wash-n-go hair. Twist outs were my primary go to. I was cautiously optimistic as I sat in her chair 3 weeks after my daughter and received the same individual knowledge and information for my own hair. She established a plan and was able to explain which products would fit my hair. I received a great shapeI and l left feeling fabulous and I can not say thank you enough!

I drove over an hour to see Judie for a Cut it Kinky session. She greeted me at the door and was super friendly. I am really big on customer service at any business so I could tell this was going to be a good appointment. Judie is very knowledgeable about her craft and you can tell she is very passionate about what she does. The consultation alone is very informative and gives clients a sense of direction and a wealth of education. Throughout the process she explains everything she is doing and what she is looking for and necessary steps to correct the hair. Once she was done cutting my hair and styling she made sure that first, I was pleased with my hair and cut. She gave me time to play in my hair to see if i wanted to make any changes. Secondly, that I knew how I was going to care for my hair when I got home, which included going over what products to use and how use them. How to style and how to get my style to last. After my Cut it kinky session I left feeling very empowered knowing when I got home I could get if not the same very close to the results she got. I highly recommend Judie @marabou curls. She is a great educator and stylist. There was not a sense of her being rushed or overbooked. Unlike most salons I didn't not just sit for hours waiting. Its just the client and Judie. Needless to say, I will be back to see her. Really looking forward to my 1 month follow up! Thank you Judie for such a great salon experience!

Judie is the most amazing stylist I've ever encountered & I've been to (too) many. She is so knowledgeable, it is unreal. I felt like I was taking a course on proper hair health & care. I have the thickest, woolliest of 4c hair strands and the love she gave them was beyond anything any of my previous stylists have ever done. They were just that-- stylists. Judie is a natural hair GURU. You will learn what to do & what not to do to get & MAINTAIN healthy hair. She's not one of those stylists who purposely misinforms you just to keep you coming back to their chair to fix the mistake that they have caused. She truly wants you to have a healthy head of hair (& scalp)! Needless to say, she's gentle. This is big for me b/c I have a sensitive scalp. + She studied at Aveda so to me, that is Grade A talent. Pls save yourself the trouble of searching for other stylists.. look no further b/c you have arrived! I apologize for the lengthy review but it is so worth it.

Let me start off by saying Judie is not only an amazing stylist, she is also an educator. In the process of sitting in her chair, not only will you receive a banging style but you will learn what it takes to be able to replicate those results at home; and, you will learn how to maintain that style throughout the duration. You'll learn about the porosity of your hair, what hair density is, how manipulate the ph and how that affects its manageability, etc... And of course she will meet you where you are on the education curve. I scheduled my first appointment with Judie after weeks to months of instagram stalking her educational posts and short tip snippets. I would gander at her styling photos and read the captions on each picture, which really helped me identify her styling missions and visions which all centered around her care and concerns for her client and their hair as a whole. I particularly liked how the women, whose heads are represented in the photos had hair that resembled mine-- "4C-4Z (which is make believe) kinky coily, fine to dense, twa to touch the floor hair." Representation is important in all things, especially hair. Moving forward, I finally decided to schedule my appointment just short of 9pm after a long, exhausting day at work and after about a week of looking crazy at work and being unable to figure out why my natural had been forsaking me. I was sitting right outside of a fast food restaurant, contemplating going home and cutting all of my hair off. Frustration was through the roof and had been for some time. Like many naturals, I found it extremely difficult to find someone to trust my hair with. I was doing everything by myself... cutting, styling, conditioning. I was YouTube taught, born and raised haha but YouTube university did not see me through what to do with my hair that night after days of swimming in chlorinated water, dealing with multi-strand knots, and weird fairy web matting piece things lol Judie taught me how to deal with those situations, those real life, stressful hair situations that are rarely showcased in media for various reasons. On my first appointment she arranged her schedule to allow for more time to do my hair consultation. She helped me describe my hair in terms that make product selections easier, outside of saying 4B, which has NO real bearing outside of attempting to describe the perceived manageability level of your hair. She gently detangled my hair and instructed me on how to work with difficult knots and matting (aka taught me how I can retain some length) AND she took her time SiS. So many people do not know the art/skill of detangling but she does and that was so important for me as a fine haired, super coily, high density girl. I've gone to people who've ripped through my coils, pulled out rat tail combs on me etcetera and my hair just cant take that. I get knotting and damage QUICK. I really appreciated her taking her time with me. Finally (because I know I've been long-winded and want to give you all a chance to experience her for yourself), let me get to her responsiveness! I can message her at almost any (reasonable) time throughout the day and she always replies back so thoughtfully and courteously. She is extremely helpful and resourceful, if it's a product I'm thinking about trying, a hair tool, or a hair disaster... whatever, she is there. She has created such a safe space for me and my curls to nestle in. She is worth all the rage! Making the decision to schedule an appointment with her is doing yourself the favor your curls deserve! Judie was the hairstylist that every girl wants. She was just as concerned about the health of my hair as she was about the styling. She taught me about how to care for my curls, recommended products and techniques for me to do at home, was conservative with how much hair she cut off, and started me on a 30 day challenge so I can track my progress in length. I left the salon completely satisfied with my service and her salon is super cute and comfortable. I'll be traveling from the Northeast to her about every month to experience her exceptional service!
