I went in for a balayage, and she said she would give me a caramel blonde or honey, but this is straight up yellow.. the only amazing part of the service was the shampoo massage the assistant does. I did come back for a redo on the toner, and it was better but then reverted back to the same. I wouldn't come back. I paid almost $400 for a balayage that doesn't even look completely done and yellow tones. I understand I came with different tones in my hair that could have affected the outcome but still dont promise a full balayage or honey blonde when hair was left out and it looks like a partial balayage, its not complete and to top it off the hair yanking i got with the blowout was horrid even after telling him he was hurting me, unacceptable.

I went in just for a root touch up to my medium blond color, not a change of color. After a long process and sitting under heat, my hair was white. Sat through redo, more heat, still not the color with which I’d walked in and Maria was nasty. Only 3 blocks from my apartment, but never went back.

Maria and her team are wonderful professionals. I've had a few artistic haircuts with Maria and I loved them every time. Plus, she works super fast! They also speak Spanish, and are all about making the client happy :) 10/10 highly recommended!

Maria is very welcoming and talented. She made me feel very comfortable in her environment and to share my opinions and inspo on what I wanted and what she recommended through her expertise. My finishing results were stunning I fell in love with my new healthy revived hair. Her staff was amazing, always checking if I was okay or if I would like water as I waited through the process. The service was amazing and Maria is my permanent hairdresser for any event moving forward.

I recently had my hair lightened by Maria Cortes and was blown away by the results. For over 15 years, I've had highlights done, but Maria is the very best. She managed to turn my dark, weak hair into a beautiful, healthy beige blonde without any damage. This is the color I've wanted since 2015, and Maria made it happen. Maria treats your hair like it’s her own, and she works hard to get the perfect result without making excuses. The salon is fun and welcoming too, thanks to her friendly colleagues. This is definitely my favorite salon in the city! Maria and her team are the best hair magicians. They are super professional, good listeners and they always portrait all my desires. Encontré a Maria a través de mi amiga Ana Gaby y estoy encantada de tenerla como mi estilista en NY para estarme retocando y cuidando mi pelito acá. Cortes de puntas, luces, tintes, mascarillas TODO. Throughout the process, she consulted with me and asked questions to ensure that I received exactly the results I wanted. Her air touch balayage technique went above and beyond my expectations. The atmosphere at Maria's is incredibly welcoming, thanks to the kindness and warmth of everyone, Caroline, Maria and Michelle. I’ve got the worst haircut of my entire life in this salon. If you’re looking for a bob, lob or French haircut, trust me this is NOT the place. They’re ok with long hair. I travelled back home to fix this mess and my all time hairdresser said “OHH my GOD who did this. It looks worse than a beauty academy student haircut” it’s extra choppy, she didn’t know how to layer my hair and I literally ended up looking like I was wearing a helmet. The shortest layers were up to my ears. Since December I’ve been trying to grow back my hair with expensive deep scalp treatments to fix this monstruosity. And I’m not being over the top with my review, just 100% honest since two experienced stylists gave me the same comment of “who did this to your hair?” Sometimes cheap can be very expensive, think twice.

Maria gave me the best cut and blow dry I’ve ever gotten!! I have really curly textured hair and I was blown away by the results of the cut. She was very attentive and took her time detailing and perfecting. Most stylists usually have a hard time blow drying my hair/ making sure it’s completely dry and the curls are blown out. But it looked PERFECT. Highly recommend!!

I was visiting from LA and I was nervous to get my hair colored, but after reading the reviews I took a chance and it was a good experience. Maria is so genuine and friendly! She offers 30% off services for first time clients, which is the best deal I could find in the neighborhood. The salon is very clean and She did a great job with the cut and blow out. I will definitely be returning in the future!

María is Thee Hair Goddess! She is my go to for it all. I’ve done balayage, baby highlights, toner, keratin, deep conditioners, cuts & blowouts w her. I left a very happy customer every time. My most recent visit- I decided to go for a change & get bangs. She did phenomenal. 10/10- highly recommend.
