My daughter and I were both Massage Envy members. My daughter passed away suddenly 7 months ago. Maybe one month later I decided that I would have her services, hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth, transferred to me so I could gift them to her friends. I then contacted Massage Envy Harbour Village explaining the situation. I was told that someone would get back to me. Months went by, I called and texted several times, and the answer was always "will get back to you". Today I called again and was not told that the services couldn't be transferred because, in the meantime, her membership expired. Be aware of the unprofessional and unethical behavior of Massage Envy, in particular of the Harbour Village location. In my book, what happened was theft and fraud.

Their process to cancel a monthly subscription is abhorrent. They do not offer an online option to cancel nor can you cancel at any of the Massage Envy location. On top of having to go into the original location you signed up with, it takes more than a month for them to actually cancel the subscription.

My name is Johnathan Jiang, I have been a loyal customer with your massage envy Harbor Village location in Jacksonville, FL for approximately 6 years now. My experiences in the past two years have been short of a good experience. My last experience on 1/12/25 was my last straw. I arrived 15 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment time @10:00AM to check in, waited in the member lounge until 10:08AM with nobody telling me anyone was running behind. I got up and went to the front desk and asked to cancel my appointment and also requested for a membership cancellation form. The member at the front desk did not ask me why I needed to cancel the appointment nor did she ask me why I wanted to cancel the membership. As I am filling out the cancellation form, the massage therapist finally comes out and calls my name, I kindly informed her that I was cancelling the appointment and she acknowledged me and walked back into the back. As I’m finalizing the cancellation paperwork I asked if a manager was on site that I could speak with and she informed me that no manager was present but would be in the next day. Upon hearing this is asked if she could let her manager know I was unhappy with my services and would like to discuss the matter before taking this up with corporate. She told me she would pass along the information and I would be receiving a call back the next day. Monday rolls along and I get no call. Tuesday rolls around and I still have no call, by evening time I decided to call myself, after multiple attempts In a 2 hour time span, I finally reach a member at the front desk and to my surprise a manager is not in again. The member I spoke with sympathized with me and told me she would be texting her manager to let her know I needed a call back As soon as possible. It is now Friday as I’m writing this and still not a call back. This is unacceptable, this customer service is subpar and I don’t believe should be a reflection of your franchise group. I have not even gotten to the reason of my cancellation other than my last experience. The last two years now I’ve noticed a decline in customer care. I pay your membership fee on time every month without a beat and yet in order to schedule an appointment I must do it at least 2 weeks in advance, but when I do arrive, I make sure to arrive at least 10 minutes minimum before my scheduled appointment time so that no time is taken out of my 60 or 90 minute massage that I’m paying for. Well it seems like it’s every massage therapist I have experienced in the last two years, they come and grab me from the lounge AFTER my scheduled appointment time. These times range anywhere from 3 minutes to up to 8 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. Now they bring me in the room, take their time on coming back in after I undress and then proceed with the massage. What really grinds my gears is that every time my massage is concluded I check the time, tell me why my massage is ending 8 minutes before my 60 or 90 minutes is up. So let’s do some math. If I book a 60 minute massage, how much of that 60 minutes am I really receiving? If I don’t get into a room till 10 minutes past my scheduled appointment time and the massage doesn’t start till 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, and my massage ALWAYS ends 8 minutes before schedule 60 minutes of massage, I’m only really getting at most a 40 minute massage. So if my massage ends 8 minutes before my 60 minutes is up, what is the massage therapist doing for 16 minutes before they greet the next customer? Cause 16 minutes to wash up is ridiculous. The math is not adding up here and I would like a call from someone that can help me address this issue and make things right. James is an amazing massage therapist. All massage therapists are not created equal; and as I say, “He really does have a gift! Before the massage he asks what you want re: your massage, including questions like, “Are there any particular areas you want to work on?” “Do you want a full body massage?” “Or do you want to focus on your upper body or lower body?” He is caring and he listens; he also remembers and refers to his notes to be sure he gives you the best massage possible, combining his expertise and knowledge, and with your input. James is strong, and can give a superb deep massage, yet he is very intuitive, plus will ask, “Is the pressure okay?” or, “How is the pressure?” He can be very gentle, too; and wishes to tailor each massage to you personally, and to whatever is going on with you, and your body, each visit. He wants your input; and he values and responds to it. And he is skilled enough to respond for a healthier, happier you! I am very happy with James; and I think you would be very happy with James, too.
