I've tried this location for facials since Maureen left Williamsburg. What a joke. I show up early to relax before my facial. Finally the estheticien shows up and cut my time. Canceling my membership. Done with the lack of disrespect to my time. Found a new place in town. No memberships. I am treated with respect. And I don't get my time cut short.

I'm so frustrated and disappointed. I feel like I got sucked in by a dishonest salesperson and now I'm stuck paying for a membership I've been unable to use for the past 6 months or so. I was going to the Newport News location for a while before I signed up for membership. Full price 90 minute massage plus tip was around $220-250. When the front desk lady told me I could pay $75/month and get 1/2 off all services plus 60 minute massage free once a month, I was a little skeptical bc I thought there must be a catch. I asked if credits rolled over if I couldn't get in n she said yes. I asked if how hard would it be to cancel if I decided it wasn't for me n she assured me I could cancel any time for any reason, just call or come by n let them know. She said you can even share your credits. Well, first few months were good n I enjoyed it. Then, for the past 6 months if I try to book through the site it either fails or they call me after I've booked n say that appointment wasn't available n they're booked up. I've got credits built up for past 6 months but I can't make appointments by phone either bc IF (huge IF) I can get anyone to answer the phone, they're booked up. So, I called and asked about cancellation. She said I'd only have 60 days to use up all my credits plus I have to come in and sign papers to cancel and it had to be right at the time my year contract ended. Well, I was traveling n missed the end of my contract so I don't know if I'm locked in for another year, can't get an answer when I call and can't get an appointment when I'm free. It really went downhill fast n now I feel like I'm just stuck. I will NEVER fall for something like this again!!! But for now I'm still trying to figure out how to stop the merry go round without losing $500+ of credits! Ughhh

It’s the holiday season and I’m shopping for a membership gift for my hubby. I’ve called a few local massage parlors but massage envy is the best option so I called the store to get signed up! Someone answers the phone and immediately puts me on hold without saying a word…… okay well maybe there’s something going on I’m thinking, I’m reasonable so I wait on hold. More times goes by and I’m still sitting on hold hoping someone gets on the phone so I can buy my husbands membership for his Christmas present.A few minutes later a woman comes on the line and says” gimme 5 minutes” then places me right back on hold again! This level of unprofessional client service is so high I am in shock. First impressions matter so much especially for businesses looking to earn patronage. Why on earth would I spend my funds on any establishment that cannot even answer a phone call politely or professionally and let someone know you will be with them momentarily after they are finished assisting another client, assisting a teammate or solving a problem etc. Looking at the recent reviews for this specific location should have been my first step as I see the same issues and complaints from multiple other patrons. This location will never earn my business. I will not send my husband to any establishment he will have a high likelihood of being mistreated or disrespected. I will take my business all the way to Hampton where I see they treat their patrons with genuine care and respect.

CeeCee was an amazing masseuse. I felt comfortable and relaxed and had a wonderful experience. She offered me use of a special pillow for larger chested persons to lay down on my stomach more comfortably. Had never heard of this pillow but it was really nice and made me want to get one for myself at home. Will definitely be back to get a massage with CeeCee again. Thank you!

I have been a member for a while.Each location has its issues but as of recently they have made some significant improvements.I enjoy getting a great facial monthly.The environment is calming and relaxing.

Scam. Not worth it. Once you start you will never be able to get out from under it. So bad we both had 6 services each accrued and we just decided to cut our losses and leave. After being with massage envy since 2013/14, we moved from the DMV area to Newport news and transferred our membership. When we moved back in 2020, we were not allowed to transfer back to the DMV and always charged an upcharge. Then...when our credit card expired we decided we will not update it. Use our remaining services and be done. But now we have to buy the months from when our card expired to now to even schedule the ones we paid for...showing that it's like a gym membership...once they get you...they won't let go.

Appointment was cancelled 30 minutes beforehand. Last time, front desk called to cancel appointment AS I AM WALKING IN. Unacceptable in my opinion , no matter the reason for cancellation because I am pretty sure they knew their therapist called out since earlier. Just poor communication.

Went in for a a microderm and was told this service is only a 45 minutes facial (I only got 30 minutes consider the 10 minute consultation and she was done by 11:40) even tho it’s listed as a 60 minute AND you’re paying $60 more on top of your membership which would be understandable except it is a basic facial. They cleanse and microderm and rub stuff on your face. Theres no massage, no mask, nothing for an additional $60 and less time. On top of that you don’t get a blanket or anything you just lay there. I have been far from impressed since I got this membership but this was by far the worst experience. Patiently waiting for a call back from corporate.

Horrible experience! I was to receive a massage from Donald. I arrived at 4:45, my appointment was at 5pm. By 5:15, I asked if they were running behind as my appointment was 15 minutes ago. The front desk worker apologized, stating she was behind her time. Just then appeared Donald, very rude from go asking if there was a problem? I stated no, just wondering what was going on since he was 15 minutes late. Immediately, no apology, or accountability, you want to reschedule? I said no, I stated having no communication put me in an imposition. I just wanted to know what happened, again, no apology you want to reschedule? I said, why do you keep stating that? I never said I wanted to reschedule. Mindyou this is in full ear shot of his MGR and the front desk worker. I ended up speaking with the MGR, she allowed him to stay and I who had done nothing had to go. They apologized, but clearly Donald is allowed to behave this way with no consequences. Don't go here! You are not valued and the GM has yet to contact me even after I sent and email with my contact information.

The store atmosphere was great! Soothing music, lighting & heated massage tables. The massage itself was fairly good. I like that my therapist felt around for trouble areas. I don’t like that I arrived for my appointment 15 til & I didn’t start my massage until 10 mins after my start time. I would have been fine with the delay but the massage was not extended. There are too many other massage places around that are cheaper & render better massages to continue going there.

Horrible service, I would not return to this facility. Owner very rude & manager ver unpleasant.. came for a $70 massage they charged $120 but upon scheduling appointment I was told one price at the time of scheduling.. first time trying and VERY unhappy, massage was horrible as well. Thankful it was a gift and not my own money except the additional $45 they got out of my account!!!!!!!! Owner & management does not have pleasant skills to serve their client. If I could give it a 0/5 I would.

I have been a member here for years. I am now cancelling that membership. No one at the front desk apparently is trained to answer the phone anymore and they do not tell you correct information. Appointments I make are apparently not being set because I’ll show up for an appointment that I have scheduled and they tell me I don’t have one. I’m so disappointed and love my massage therapist, she’s literally taken care of me for 5 years, but I’m not going to pay a monthly service fee for subpar care.

In the establishment currently and was not greated with a smile but with attitude . The lady Marria (red shirt curly hair) was very short when asked question and seemed uninterested in helping . She seemed bothered. She acknowledged this and asked “ does it seem like I’m being short “ ?? I do not recommend this place if you’re looking to get away from everyday stress and negative energy .customer service is important.

Unfortunately I did not stay for the massage. I walked in to schedule an appointment. I wasn't told anything about the treatment or what to expect. The day of my appointment I was asked to come in early for paperwork. I arrived 30 min early and finished the paperwork in about 3/5 min. It went downhill from there. I don't believe there is a relaxation room to sit in before your massage because I was never brought to one. I sat in the front lobby where you could hear all of the employees conversations and complaints. I was never offered a beverage. Most spas have at least water for their customers. As I sat there for 20 min or more I decided that it was not a relaxing pleasant experience. The manager allowed for me to cancel. I'll just continue to go to Four Seasons.

I like firm pressure so when I asked Faith was recommended as well as trying her hot stones for 90 minutes. I went early at 1245 for a 1pm today and sat until 111pm I had to go ask if I was checked in. Brittany the very nice front desk lady went and check and stated the hot stones where being warmed and she would be with me. Faith came and got me at 115pm brought me to the room and asked what I liked, she never said a word about being late. I explained and she told me she hasn’t done firm in over 4 years. I said ok you were referred so we’ll see what you do. She told me she was the best and had all the clients booking her out so ok. By that time it’s 120pm and I’m just about to get undress. Takes her another 5 minutes to come in the room and set up with stones. Ok so she started by leaning her elbow in my calf and staying there and I say that’s too much pressure. She says well that’s my deep pressure and I have the strongest fingers here. I let her know then ok give me your medium but, she starts off the same way and then starts lightly rubbing me then moves on to using the stones. It was one of the worst massages I have gotten and have been going massage envy for over 10 years. It’s like she wanted to prove some point, dig down, stop and through out the massage she would stop and rub with one hand. I had to ask a couple of times if everything was ok. She kept telling me she was the best and most requested there. I had to tell her I didn’t want the stones. So she continues with just her hands. Basically it was an inconsistent massage and I don’t see how she’s the best. I tried Abbey and she was wonderful, I’m going stick with Abbey and take no more recommendations. Just my take on trying to relax. I did not get my 90 minutes. She was done at 230. Would not recommend her or hot stones. This is the first time I have ever felt like leaving a comment.

To preference this review which may seem harsh. Know that I have monthly massages at Destress Express, a locally owned boutique type spa by a very seasoned and skilled therapist. I had to miss an appt so I was finally able to use a GC a friend got me for this place. I left Massage Envy underwhelmed and frustrated. Trying to schedule took 3 calls. On arrival, I literally stood in front of the receptionist for 30 seconds before she stopped typing to greet me. I was handed a tablet to sign in that had all their other customers names visible. The rooms have no music and the ambiance is lackluster. I specified which areas I needed worked on. I was frustrated with my entire massage experience. I believe it's because I am accustomed to the hands of a skilled therapist. I requested DEEP tissue. My assigned therapist here was young and unable to provide the type of pressure I needed. I believe she did the best she could. I left with my shoulder still tight and aching. She barely touched my forearms and thumb. Sadly, I will have to return to work (physical therapist)with a tight shoulder and achy hands. I will try to get one of my coworkers to work on me if time allows. I am praying my shoulder will hold out until I can get back to my regular MT at Destress Express

Went to the newport news location 4 times. First masseuse forgot her name was wonderful room located in front smelt nice. Can't seem to get her again though. Then Had a guy Mike who seemed scared. I also had a bad allergy attack because the room smelt like an ashtray, it was a back room on left hand side. So obviously left miserable. 3rd time got faith she was late but wonderful pressure got front room also so was good massage. 4th time got faith again & yet again was late, pressure was off, she kept stopping using one hand as if maybe doing something else with other hand. Got that room in back left hand side that again smelt like an ashtray, so left feeling awful coughing sneezing, awful allergy attack. Very disappointing. Not sure what goes on in those back rooms but it should not smell like a smoking room. So today I will be trying the hampton location with Brian we will see.
