I’m disappointed in my experience with Massage Envy and will likely not be a returning customer. I received a gift card and decided to schedule a couple massage for my husband and I. I called a few locations and was finally connected with the location that had a double room which is needed for the service we wanted. We were quoted an amount at time of scheduling. Although the lady who I spoke to stated she was “filling in for the regular person” she assured me, after several minutes on hold, that she was quoting the correct price. Fast forward to check out after our massage at the amount was $50 more than quoted. The girl at the counter seemed unmoved by my concern and said that the normal price for a $90 minute massage was $195. Massage Envy has entry level and mediocre at best, massage therapists and does not warrant top dollar. The over all experience didn’t leave my husband and I wanted to return to Massage Envy.

Had the oddest experience here my last visit earlier this year. I felt extremely uncomfortable with my female masseuse who had the most inappropriate conversation with me during my 60 minute session. I felt I needed to remain calm through the entire thing otherwise she would react violently; that's how bad it was. I was in such a rush to leave that I lied to the front desk when they asked how my experience was just so I can get out of there. I felt I needed to leave a tip as well and refrained from leaving this review because I was afraid she was going to retaliate and find my information in their system. She talked to me about how she can feel my energy and told me stories of demonic presences in her past. And this wasn't even the worst of the conversation. I can't believe I wasted my money at this location and regret ever staying and not speaking up sooner. I believe her name was Chantelle. I'm sure their cameras will even catch me sitting in my parked car right in the front crying because of how anxious and nervous I was.

As the risk of coming off like a real “Karen”, I have to share this experience: My appointment was for 6 PM. At 6:02 I popped my head through the door and asked the front desk if I’d be starting soon. The young girl said he should pick me up at any moment and I would still get my full service. When I went back and sat down I heard laughter from the 6 to 7 people that were sitting up at the front desk with her. Were they laughing about me? Who knows. Derek picked me up at 6:05. He left me to change and I laid there for about 5 minutes before he came back. He was very nice. That being said the entire massage was the same movement for whatever specific area he was working on over and over, with his knuckles which just becomes annoying. It’s almost as if I had no idea of any muscle groups. Then, there was the constant clearing his throat, sniffing, and yawning audibly. At no time did he check during the massage on pressure level or comfort. When I flipped over on my back to start the top side, he had to excuse himself to use the restroom. Once back he was massaging my neck and actually fell asleep 5/6 times. How did I know he fell asleep? B/c the moves would get slower & slower until he would stop, then flinch & jerk back awake. And, he was snoring. After about half a dozen times of that I open my eyes and say “Derrick, it sounds like you’re falling asleep. His reply was hilarious. He said “oh sorry, sometimes when I’m really relaxed, my breathing sounds like I’m snoring”. I don’t know how relaxed you’re supposed to be while giving someone a 90 minute massage but that seems a little too relaxed. Again on the top, it was the same movements over and over and over to the point of it being annoying. There was no point in asking him to do something different because I don’t think he had the ability to do so. Once finished I got up in the first thing I did was put on my watch to see that the time said 7:24. So I was picked up late, there was a bathroom break in the middle of it, there was a nap break in the middle of it, and I was done early. The young girl at the front, after I briefly mentioned a few things about the service, offered me a free enhancement card. I told her that was very kind and I appreciated it, but I wouldn’t be using that. Let’s be honest… Why would I come back? Now all that being said still tipped him 20%. That’s because I assume he’s probably making a low hourly wage and really needs the tip. But the tip is not indicative of what the service was or deserved. Having worked at a 4 star resort in the valley for a few years so understand how desperately needed those tips are sometimes so couldn’t bring myself to tip less than 20%. I emailed the support email & explained all of the above. I asked at least a 50% discount off the cost of that service if not 100%. I made it clear that I knew this wasn’t the Four Seasons… But it was still $120 for 90 minutes of time wasted. The reply from General MGR Carla Pena was comical. The only thing it addressed was the laughing- no acknowledgment of the time shortage or nap. She offer a free 60 min service 😂 I went back and forth w/her and the main Massage Envy support center. They first said only Carla could help me then later said I was getting a full refund. Then, Carla replied that I was only getting the tip refunded, and I could dispute the charge with my credit card (which I was I did and they refunded me w/purchase protection). I think the most annoying part of this whole issue is that Carla was quick to take the tip away from Derrick, likely knowing that credit cards don’t typically honor disputes for “satisfaction” of a service so she would get to keep my $. Her general attitude gives clarity to this whole experience. That should be a training opportunity for him rather than a punishment, especially this close to holiday. My advice is to find an independent massage therapist and give them your hard earned cash b/c Massage Envy and Carla could care less. And based off of the other replies to her bad reviews I can’t wait to see what she says here.

I've been seeing Alexandra once per month for like 6 years now, I think. Definitely since before the pandemic. Anyway, she's great and everyone else has always been super nice and accommodating. I always look forward to my massage once per month.

Jenny is an amazing esthetician! I know my skin is in good hands when I get a facial with her. I have gotten facials at Massage Envy for over 5 years when I first encountered Jenny and have refused to go to anyone else since.

The worst massage envy location I’ve been to. No customer service. Everything just seems chaotic. My facial was 20 minutes long. Not relaxing at all. Just seemed like she got a an exfoliating pad put it on my face for 10 minutes took it off and wiped my face and put some moisturizer on. She didn’t even bother closing door or dimming light. I felt ripped off. My face broke out the next day. Not sure if she even used proper products.

UPDATE: even when they agreed to the refund after fraudulently charging me they processed the refund onto the wrong card that was old. They can’t even rectify their own problems correctly. Avoid this location and membership at all costs. The staff that runs the counter are beyond incompetent and like the make mistakes/charge you when you’ve cancelled your membership then blame you. They take advantage of people terribly here. I would like to also state that this is no reflection on the estheticians or therapists they’re wonderful. The front desk has ruined the reputation of this location and I’m beyond mad that I’m still fighting for money back when they took it illegally.

Extremely unsatisfied. I have been trying to cancel my membership for months, and have been lied to multiple times now. They have now told me approximately 6 times that they have canceled my account and 6 months later, I am still being charged. Never received a refund. I will be contacting corporate with this information.

Went for massage. Went for full body massage even told the therapist I wanted all over but they only did arms legs and back didn’t even do head, shoulders or feet. Will not be back to this location they don’t know what they’re doing.

I’ve been a loyal Massage Envy customer for 12 years. Second time in row they cancel on me day of the massage. Both times unapologetic that it’s been done and unhelpful with trying to reschedule. No sort of assistance offered for the inconvenience.

Not happy with my massage I told the therapist where she needed to focus my back between my shoulder blades and she spend most of the time on my arms and feet!! I was looking forward to have a great massage but I was very disappointed! Will not be going back!
