I discovered Victoria McHone (one of the stylists and colorists now at Matson & Co) through a friend who had amazing hair color. I went for hair color, and ALSO discovered Victoria is the first hair stylist I've ever had that really took the time (and has the skill!!) to cut my curly/wavy and generally moody hair. I send all my friends to Victoria. She's also just a rad person and 10000% enjoyable to chat with (or not if that's not your thing at the hair salon, she gets it.)

I hesitate to write a review given it can be difficult to get an appointment with Jeff, unless you are good at planning ahead, which I am not. The wait is a testament to the quality of haircut and overall service. He’s also worth the 4-8 week wait. An overall great guy, always good conversation, pays attention to all aspects of the experience, from customers need for caffeine to music being played…and then he pays even more attention to your hair, meticulous in detail and consistently great at what he does. It’s always a pleasure to get my haircut! I have only see Jeff, but I have family members who get their hair done by the other stylists at the salon and they also rave about their experience. Side note - the google pic identifying me for the review was from a few years prior to me getting haircuts with Jeff😂.

I love this hair salon! Especially my stylist Victoria who has been doing my hair since I moved to Santa Barbara 14years ago (Gasp!) She is kind, knowledgeable, skilled and cares about her clients. I’m always happy with her service and have enjoyed our conversations over the years. I can’t recommend her enough 💗

This locally owned salon provides upscale services with a relaxed vibe. Jeff Matson, a co-owner with his wife Nada, has been cutting my hair longer than I can remember, predating even his own salon. His ability to give me a high-quality, consistent haircut is something I’ve had trouble finding elsewhere. Combining his skills as both stylist and a barber (two different skills is mastered) has always given me the results I’m looking for whether it’s longer, shorter, or somewhere in between. The rest of the staff is always personable and easy to talk to in this laid-back shop. The place is clean and well lit. Located in the Victoria Court shopping center across State Street from the Granada theater. Ample parking can be found in the lot behind the shopping center off of Chapala Street.

Ariel always gives me the best cuts. I have a ton of hair and my main goal it to have it thinned. I had to get a lot of bad cuts in this town before I found Ariel. She not only can thin my hair out, but it looks cut too.

The ambience is sleek yet welcoming and the stylists are professional, talented, and friendly without being obtrusive. The quality of my color gets rave reviews from all my very fussy friends, many of whom now book at Matson & Co, too.

About 8 years ago I was referred to my hairstylist Victoria Mchone after having a horrible experience of attempting to go dark (which turned out a green hue), then multiple failed attempts by the same stylist trying to right his wrong. Needless to say my hair was completely fried and I had trouble growing it long again for a few years. Victoria was my saving grace. I have always had thick, long, curly hair which many other stylists didn't know what to do with. Victoria is such a hair nerd (which I LOVE) and takes the time to consult you at the beginning of each appointment. She knows what will work with YOUR HAIR and has great suggestions that you might not have thought about. She even gave me homework to speed up my hair growth. Thanks to her I have been able to grow out mermaid long healthy locks that are healthy and strong. Plus we've had lots of fun playing with different colors and dying the tips for special occasions. She uses organic color, and always recommends the best products to work with my hair. I have referred my husband, brother, and multiple friends there. Once you go to her you won't want to see anyone else - they haven't! Though I began with her at Cheri Bibi, I have followed her to Matson & Co. This salon is excellent. It's more private which is nice. All the stylists are professional and friendly, and the place is kept very clean. I usually bring a book, but often end up enjoying my conversations with everyone so much that I don't get any reading done ;) If you're looking for a good stylist, give them a call. You won't regret it!

This place is top-notch! It’s a beautiful space with beautiful people and when I get done there I’m looking beautiful! But seriously, the owners and stylists are not only excellent but also fun to talk with during the process. I highly recommend Matson and Co.!!

I absolutely love the way Nada cuts and colors my hair! She consistently is on point with the color and and she never gets “scissor happy” when it comes to the haircuts. I often receive compliments on my hair and it’s all thanks to Nada! The salon is also brand new and gorgeous!!

Jeff has been cutting my hair for 15+ years and I was so excited when I found out he and Nada were opening their own salon. He always listens to what I'm looking for in a cut and/or color and then either executes that idea perfectly, or steers me towards something similar that will work better for me. Most recently he has done a balayage on my hair and I am ecstatic! It's been a month and a half since he first colored it and I am still getting compliments on the cut and color from friends and coworkers. The new salon is lovely: the location is convenient and the space is clean and minimalist without being clinical or uncomfortable. I would refer anyone looking for a great cut, color & salon experience to Matson & Co!

Victoria has been doing my hair for a couple years now. I couldn’t be happier with her work. I feel so lucky to have found her. Initially, I came to her with serious hair issues. I had old henna in my hair and had been using Hairprint for several months. My hair was a mess. My goal was to come back to professional hair color in the cleanest way possible. Victoria uses an organic hair color line that I really love. She is a hair color genius and amazing stylist. I have the greatest confidence in her work, and I am super picky. She has been a savior. I am finally happy with my hair thanks to Victoria!! P.S. She is also an awesome human being. The salon is beautiful and comfortable too.
