I was back in town for hair care after being away from Chicago for a long time. Evan Roberts at Maxine Salon in Chicago at the moment may be considered a "junior stylist" but the haircut and blow dry he gave me was masterful. Due to moving around a lot, I've been to the some of the best salons in in the world and his cut was amazing. For being "just a trim" this haircut had movement and subtle strategies in terms of his cutting, that made my thinning/damaged hair look full and luxuriant. His blow dry was spot-on, contemporary and lasted many days without using a ton of sticky product. Further, Evan is very pleasant to work with. As always, Rex Jimieson at Maxine is a sweetheart and the best colorist I've ever known for giving me the perfect cool blonde foiled highlights I love. He followed my usual instructions to leave me with a little bit of "rooty look" to help me lengthen/soften the growout period but with lots of brightness around the face (his are the kind of highlights that don't go into gold/yellow after a week or two). Rex Jimieston is best colorist for cool blonde highlights in Chicago if that's what you seek!

Shelly is the best in the biz for haircuts!! I have been seeing her for over a decade. Even though I've moved out of Chicago, I still go out of my way to have her cut my hair whenever I am back in the city visiting family. Whether it's maintence on a long hairdo or chopping it all off for a bob, I know I can trust Shelly to give her input and deliver the perfect cut for me and my features.

The best experience!!! Bob is amazing and made me feel right at home. From the phone call this am being answered 15 minutes before they opened, getting me in right away and the welcome I had from the staff and patrons…along with a laugh or two. It was an amazing start to my day. Thanks Maxine Salon I will be back. PS. Please remind Connie next time she’s in…..her hair is kickass!!!!

As a platinum blonde (most of the time!), I have a really hard time finding a colorist who can attain the pale blonde (not silver, not white) I want. My skin has red undertones, so I don't like to have any yellow or gold tones. Lauren Mildice has successfully achieved the right shade repeatedly! AND, she's done so without having to go in and tweak anything. I highly recommend you make an appointment with her for any of your color needs. She's AMAZING! @chicagocolorist on Insta.

I see Dani at Maxine for haircuts and the experience from start to finish is always a treat. The salon itself feel luxurious without any pretentiousness. Dani is a delight to work with and does amazing hair.

I really like this salon. I have passed by it many times over the years and never stopped in, but about a year ago I was looking for a new stylist because I had been getting "curly haircuts" and never really felt happy with them. I found Jenna Spino at Maxine Salon. Jenna has curly hair herself so she understands where I'm coming from. She is very knowledgeable and cuts my hair the way I ask and communicates with me throughout the haircut to make sure I will be happy with it. Blowouts seem to be popular at this salon so I feel at home. LOL Jenna is happy to blow dry my hair so I feel good when I leave the salon. She also gives me tips for wearing my hair natural when I choose to. I've never enjoyed going to hair salons because too many times I have left very sad because either the stylist didn't understand my hair and cut it in a way that would be hard to manage or just didn't listen to me at all and cut it however he or she wanted. I enjoy my appointments with Jenna and the salon is unpretentious and comfortable. The employees there have always been very welcoming and friendly. I'm very glad I found Jenna and look forward to many more appointments with her.

Ich bin vor ein paar Wochen zufällig am Laden vorbeigelaufen, sie hatten für mich und meine Schwestern direkt Termine frei. Ich habe ein paar Inspirationsbilder gezeigt und genau das bekommen, was ich wollte. Die Leute dort sind mega nett und offen. Such an amazing group of hair care experts. Special shout out to my favorite due, Lorena (talented hair colorist) and Raven ( hair stylist expert). As a client of Maxine’s for 8 years, I’ve never been disappointed. I walk out with revived hair, Lorena gives me the shine my hair seeks to appear rejuvenated with the color it needs and Raven then polishes it all with her gifted techniques. Let me not forget to mention the fact that both of these girls have been publish and recognize in top tear fashion magazines. A plus to my experience, knowing I have well recognized ladies give me the glow up I need.

Absolutely recommend! Maxine Salon is in the heart of Chicago. With prime location and a gorgeous interior, this place has surpassed every expectation I had coming in. All staff is so kind and friendly. I got my hair colored with Lauren and Rex. They were warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. They elevated my look with a full balayage. It was done with such attention to detail and customized for my personal liking! Throughout the process, they walked me through what was going on and provided insight. Raven styled my hair and she was wonderful and talented as well. I cannot say enough positive things about Maxine Salon; it is simply a wonderful salon and I'm thankful to have had this experience.

Came in for a Style for an evening event showed a photo of exactly what I was looking for “Russian waves” They booked me with a pacific hairstylist who can do them. Well I paid $95 came home had to brush out and redo…I was considering speaking to a manager, but I had no time to sit and complain. Also my haircuts have all been great but this was my first bad experience. Really bad timing with my event.

The staff at Maxine's as always is friendly, helpful, and professional. I have never received a bad haircut or color treatment. The one time I wasn't 100 percent satisfied they worked with me until I was. This review was posted years ago, but still true today July 2023!

This is hands down the best hair salon I’ve ever gone to in my 34 years! I always walk out highly satisfied and the level of customer service from the front desk team to hair stylists is A+. I have been a longtime client of Qiana, I’ve seen Michelle before, and I also go to Leigh! All of them are fantastic!

This was my first experience with hair coloring at this salon. Never again, at least not with Lorena. She was doing foil highlights, I asked her to match what I had as close as possible. The result (after a redo to fix the toning shade!) - clearly visible line of what was the new growth and most importantly the roots at the middle and the back of the head were not colored at all!! To pay $250 and leave with the same dark roots that I came in with? Really?! The more visible front part was done, anything else she couldn't be bothered with. I couldn't believe when I saw this when I got home.

We decided to get married last month and literally a week before the wedding I realized that I was in serious need of a hair rescue. I had been growing out my gray and in doing so, had some gray highlights. But overall, my hair was looking rather ashy and lackluster. I’ve been going to the same salon for years, and switching colorists/salons can be scary, especially days before a wedding. But I had read such good things about Jasen and he was able to fit me in. He worked an absolute miracle on my hair. He brought my hair back to life giving it an incredibly natural look with a lot of dimension and shine. The condition of my hair hasn’t looked or felt better in years. I look at our wedding photos now and am just so happy with how my hair looks, all thanks to Jasen! And my husband continues complementing it, so that’s always a good sign. I am so grateful for Jasen and his talent and would highly recommend him. He is professional and deserves all the accolades, awards, and recognition he has received. He is also so kind and has such a warm energy. How you treat people matters and you can tell Jasen genuinely cares for people and about his clients happiness. In fact, everyone I’ve interacted with at Maxine thus far has been wonderful. Cannot recommend enough!

Have gotten many haircuts from Maxine’s from a stylist who is no longer with us so I know what a good haircut feels and looks like. The haircut I received from Leigh last week was perhaps the worst I have ever gotten. While Leigh was the nicest person, she needs training on how to cut hair. I was so disappointed and for $120 plus tip, I should not have been!

Read what they did to me & my perfect hair genes: v This place only looks credible due to the owner’s art work and decorum. The actual stylists of this salon have zero credentials, zero training. Zero knowledge. They work on older (60-70+) women who need simple low-risk color lifts for a reason. This is not a fake review. I went here. The large tall 30 something guy with brunette hair. He burned off my hair and left me bald over something as basic as a root lift with minimal bleach. Should’ve simply used a low developer. Clearly he didn’t mix it right At ALL. It was burning my skin but I never had that happen so I didn’t say anything and just grimaced my teeth bc I needed it done in time for my hair appointment at a much more expensive and more professional salon. That unfortunately never happened. My hair has never been the same since, and this was 12-18 months ago from today. I had thick hair all of my life, my whole family has thick hair. Today it is still stringy and ruined and thin with breakage. My head looks flat and small and the change has been life altering. I still don’t have any hair on the back of my head, only surrounding that area. The hair has yet to grow back there and it’s been 18 months. I honestly could and should sue. It’s preposterous something so simple could happen at what LOOKS like a professional salon however their actual STYLISTS are NOT TRAINED. And they let him continue to work there. They even tried to cover up for him and blamed the L’Oréal bleach solution, as if I were an idiot who hasn’t had my hair professionally and personally intelligently bleached with safe protocols and developer levels MY ENTIRE LIFE whilst maintaining thick and healthy hair. This place ruined me. You make your choice. But these positive reviews are fake and I can promise you you never know the day that comes when that fatale irreversible mistake at places like these are made. Bc it CAN happen to you. It happened to me. And I was young and in my 20s with a full head of genetically gifted thick straight long hair. You’re not safe from accidents like this. If I wasn’t neither are you. I had the best salon care at the most expensive places prior to this and only slummed it here intentionally bc I wanted to go cheaper for a simple root bleach job, something I’ve done myself once during 2020 with perfect intelligent results. Not this time. Not any time after this. Goodbye normal. Never again can I use bleach. And they still let him work there.
