Jeris at Medusa is hands down the best of the best in one of the top salons in Austin! I kind of found him by chance by searching for the best hair salon near me and then flipped through his client photos. I was sold and have trusted him for the past year or two. From the moment you sit in his chair, you know you’re with an expert. He takes the time to listen and ask questions, and then I just trust him to work his magic to highlight/balayage and perfectly cut my curly hair (which I’ve learned isn’t a skill many stylist have). One of my biggest hair concerns is that I’ve damaged it a lot from 20+ years of highlighting, but I still can’t kick wanting to be an unnaturally bright blonde – through his strategic and meticulous foil placements, Jeris has been a huuuuge help in keeping me bright in a healthier way while I try to grow out and trim off all the years of hair abuse. Using ammonia-free color and Kevin Murphy products might have something to do with it, too. One thing I don’t think people talk about enough is the social experience as you’re sitting with this person for sometimes a few hours at a time. Our conversations never feel forced and, when I’m not feeling all that chatty, it’s not uncomfortable to just sit in silence and mentally check out for a bit. Also, booking is easy and all done online or in-app thru StyleSeat. If you’re not sure exactly what to book, Jeris is very responsive to text messages and can make sure you’ll have enough time. His prices are very transparent, reflective of his years and level of experience, and I’ve never had an expected change that we didn’t talk about beforehand. Medusa is in a busy, but convenient downtown location with garage parking (free w/validation) and the salon itself is welcoming and has a great, chill vibe. If you’re looking for someone who’s talented, personable, and who you can trust completely, Jeris is seriously one of the best hair stylists in Austin. Murphy. Highly recommend!

I was referred to Jeris at Madusa by a good friend whose hair always looks great. You know how nerve wrecking it can be to see a new stylist, but he put me at ease with his kind demeanor and knowledge. And can I say- the salon is a total vibe!!! Very welcoming, chill and relaxed. I was super pleased with my complimentary consultation as I felt he really listened to what I wanted, and helped me work through what type of look I would realistically be keeping up with. The balayage, root melt, cut… All came out excellent! Highly recommend.

Best Salon In Austin! Conveniently tucked into the west side of downtown with plenty of parking in front of the building and nearby. The studio has amazing professional stylists devoted to delivering the best in luxury hair treatments. Medusa is a Kevin Murphy-focused salon, so you'll find all your favorite products at great prices. The salon is incredibly clean and chic, with a very chill vibe. Make sure to follow their IG for special pop-up beauty events!

Go check out Medusa and find a place where everyone is welcome and the hair is great! Jeris has been my stylist since 2020 and I had the privilege of watching him open the salon with his business partner. Together the've created a space with great energy and grown to include a number of other talented stylists. Jeris is an artist with hair, you will come out looking great! He's a super listener and very skilled at helping people create the look they want. Highly recommend!

I was recommended Medusa Hair Studio by a friend and I could not have had a better experience. Jeris patiently listened to my hair woes of the past year (mainly about me wandering to random salons after my loved and dearly missed former beautician moved out of state) and expertly helped me figure out my hair goals for that day. His cut was skillful, elegant, and exactly what I was looking for. The salon itself is beautiful and comfortable and gives off the zen-vibes and beautiful smells of a spa. It's been a while since I've felt so good after a hair cut, especially amazing with someone new, and it's great to feel I've found a new home with Jeris and Medusa Studio.

Nothing but positive experiences at this salon and with Lindsey. Lindsey: as noted in every other review you’ll find on her, her work with blondes is OUTSTANDING. I’ve been getting my hair highlighted and bleached for nearly 20 years and she is hands down the best stylist I’ve ever had and my hair is the healthiest it’s ever been. I also really appreciate how honest and transparent Lindsey is about what’s best for your hair. She is patient and works with you to find what’s going to work for you and takes your own care routine into consideration. That said, if she recommends something it’s because your hair actually needs it. She’s also pretty intuitive on how social you want to be during the appointment. There are days we talk the whole time, and there have been times where I’ve been all talked out from my job and I just want to zone out and be pampered. How she just notices this and follows suit I don’t know, but she’s good at it and will put you at ease. If you’re on the fence about seeing her, just do it. She will not leave you disappointed! The space: I love that it’s very central, there is FREE gated parking (literally the only way you’ll catch me driving and parking somewhere downtown), and it’s close to the library and Trader Joe’s. That may not be important to other people but I love that I can conveniently run a few errands when leaving my appointment. I will note that some of the stylist stations are upstairs so if you have a mobility concern, I’d definitely ask in advance to make sure you’re safely accommodated.

Omar is a hair ✨magician ✨ and I have loved having him cut my hair over the last several years!! I'd follow him anywhere, but it's been especially wonderful to see the heart and soul he's poured into Medusa. It's a gorgeous space with a great location (free parking right across from trader Joe's, which I take advantage of at every appointment). Since I know curly hair stylists are hard to come by, I'll mention that Omar works on multiple hair types. A curly-haired colleague and I (very fine straight hair) both raved to each other about our stylists - come to find out, we both go to Omar! FWIW, Medusa is a queer-friendly business that does a great job with trans nonbinary clients. My partner has short, straight, platinum hair that they get non-stop compliments on from strangers, cut and colored by Omar (#Omardidit). We referred another nonbinary friend to Medusa and Jeris has been capturing their personality perfectly with the 90s lesbian mini-mullet of their dreams.

The owner is reasonable and seems to be a good person so it’s very unfortunate that Patrick who has one of the chairs here is capitalizing on unjust practices :(. We had a virtual consultation as he advertised NBR but when you talk to him he makes it clear he will and cannot perform it with his reasoning being “I make more money coloring hair then doing nbr” which fine but I had no interest in moving forward as that was the only thing I was interested in. He then on his end booked an extension appointment - without any confirmation so naturally I missed - as it was not agreed to - and since I had a card on file from the consultation he charged me $570. I’ve never experienced anything like this. The only compromise is that it could go towards a credit - which is already a crazy compromise considering it he only thing I was interested in he can’t do. I just moved from NYC where I went to the most amazing hair dresser for 5 years and we still are close (if you need an nyc hair dresser let me know!). This was my first hair studio experience in Austin :(. Do not go here not only is it bad business but he was not conversational at all when it come to resolving this matter. I thought it was a mistake at first because it’s so crazy and he made it clear it’s not. It’s a very simple case of bad business and ethics. Hate writing these things and the owner is wonderful so just go to another stylist at Medusa -
