I’ve been coming to Menas for many years based on where I’ve lived depends on the location. However I’ve truly found my hairstylist here on 35th, by far my favorite. No matter where I’m at I drive to this location now. The convenience of being able to come anytime of day. Tony works overnight so that’s when I’m here and I’m always in and out. He’s growing my hair essentially and he has great customer service!

I have 4c natural hair. For the first time in about 8 years I went to the salon to get a trim. I told the owner, a man, that last time I blow dried my hair and had it flat ironed it never ever went back too it’s natural state. He argued with me and told me they must have relaxed it. I said in my head am I stupid enough to you to not know if my hair was being relaxed? Sure I let it go because he was working on my hair. The he added that nothing will happen to my hair and that why wouldn’t it goes back to my normal hair after the blow out and flat iron. Again making me feel dumb. He went on to say that I should not use oil on my hair etc. 👀 sure. I indulged his lack of knowledge of Black hair. Before that whole experience, the guy in glasses who washed my hair was extremely insensitive. He pulled and tugged on my hair. I told him many times to be gentle. Didn’t pay any mind. His customer service or bed side manners was not great. It’s been over a month since I this experience. I have washed my hair many times and deep conditioned many times and still my hair has not reversed back to its 4c texture. Heartbreaking! If you advertise that you know about Black hair and do Black hair then you should know more than the customer or just as much. There is trust when we all through the door. This photo is my hair after many washed and deep conditioning. Very sad and upset about it. It took 8 years for me to master courage and go back to a salon. Because after the first time I ended up cutting my entire hair to start over. Just wanted a trim and I lost my kinks and curls in the process.

Beware natural hair ladies getting your hair done here. I asked for a wash and blow dry on my NATURAL hair. I later realized that the person doing my hair had put a relaxer or relaxer like chemical on my hair that totally changed the texture of my hair. The curl pattern I had before I walked into the shop is now ruined! I did not ask for a relaxer and if the stylist was not able to service my hair in it's natural state, he should have stated that. I'm super disappointed for the amount of money I paid to have my hair done but it is now ruined.

This was my first time going to this salon and this was the most efficient walk-in service I’ve ever had. I went to Adam and he was absolutely amazing, caring and so personable. I received a silk press service with a regular condition treatment. I’ll be back!

I came here to get a lot of my hair cut off because I knew it was damaged and not growing. When he cut it he said it will grow back and let me tell you my hair grew back a lot and fast. I can’t wait to go back

I had a great experience here at Mena’s on 35th. I have been going there for great services for quite a while now and they always take great care of me and treat me like family. Everyone does great work but my personal favorite is George.☺️☺️

I do like this place and I been going for two years on/off. I do feel like this place pressures you to add services for more cost for them. You have to maintain strict that you want a simple service. I always just get a wash and blow dry with a trim. I don't want curls or anything extra. I do this routine before I get braids. I do found they always want you to get "deep condition". Be careful ladies and pay attention.

I love Mena’s! Stop in to see Joe he will take care of you. From 6am-3pm M, T, TH, FR, SA, SU. He also does glue in if needed. Very nice and pleasant , been coming for years.

My hair is healthier and happier. Just started going there. Adam did a great job. Washed, deep conditioned, stored and cut$95. Definitely with it in two hours on a Saturday morning.

WARNING- I went to Mena’s for several months, primary due to convenience. However when I went back to my normal stylist we discovered that some type of product to relax hair had been applied to my hair. This was done without my knowledge or consent. Prior to this, I had not had chemicals to relax my hair in 20+ years. Since this has happened I have experienced severe(!) hair loss and shedding. For a salon to apply products that permanently change a client’s hair without authorization is a violation of trust. If you decide to go to Mena’s I recommend bringing your own products or checking each product they use before it is placed on your hair. The product was likely placed in my hair when I thought I was getting a deep conditioner.

Yeahhhh. This place is definitely hit or miss. I have had some OK stylists but not today. Service was trash. The heavy set stylist burned my head and hair several times. Kept trying to rush services that I did not require or want. I had to go home and restraighten my hair. It was honestly a bad experience all around. I wish there was more respect for their patrons and their hair health.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I called this place to see if they worked with my hair texture and they said yes and I was referred to Fresley ( I probably spelled this wrong) when I arrived I told him what I wanted, I had grown out my hair for 5 years and was ready to cut it but was worried because I wanted my natural hair texture to come through with out any straightening or heat. He told me that he could not do it and I should wait for his co worker . He told me he would talk to him and I should come the next day at 1:30pm to confirm appointment and fresly says oh he’s hot here yet come at 3. I get there at 3 and neither fresly or the other guy is there. At this point the person that was there said come back at 5… I could not come back at 5 so I told them that it was okay, I just needed my hair cut and since it’s a salon I imagined that some one else could cut my hair since their reviews were not horrible. Boy was I wrong. I asked the guy cutting my hair to please make a braid and cut so I could preserve the braid and then donate it. It was over 10 inches of hair I could donate to charity. He did NOT he went straight and cut a chunk off, when I exclaimed that he was not listening a woman working on another lady’s hair came and did it for him! At this point he had cut a chunk off my hair and I was just astonished that he did not have any intention on letting me keep the hair. He continues to cut for about 10 minutes and then stops. He says okay you want me to style it? At this point he has not wet my hair, washed my hair NOTHING! I said you are done ? And he said yes, if you want a wash and style it’s 50 dollars! I said no I don’t want to apply heat to my head, so then he showed me a mirror of how my hair looked. Literally, no type of shape and cut bluntly, I said no please thin it out so it has shape. He said NO, I was like what do you mean no? This needs shaping and I would like it thinned out he said we don’t have the scissors. I was literally looking at a whole salon full of equipment but they did not have thinning sheers? I said I will have to go somewhere else and pay for some one to do that. And the guy said YES! I do not understand why they could just not said we don’t work with your hair type. On the first day I would have gone on my merry way. I wanted to patron a neighborhood salon and boy do I regret it. I walked out of that salon after that, that was the worst experience I have ever had at a salon and I do not recommend anyone go there. Wasted my time and unfortunately I will have to wait for my hair to grow out some before I can get it fixed. If I go get it re cut it would end up too short. Worst of all is that is was my birthday and I was excited about this cut. Completely ruined my day.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. If you love your hair, do not go here! To begin, I'm extremely certain that they somehow chemically relaxed my hair. Specifically, I went to get my hair simply washed and blow-dried. As soon as I sat down at the shampoo bowl, the guy insisted that he use a “dandruff” shampoo on my hair, although I do not suffer from dandruff. He continued to pressure me to use it by saying it would make my hair soft, but he added that it would be an additional $15. I let him use the shampoo, and he weirdly told me that the shampoo would have to sit on my hair for 10 minutes. That was extremely strange, then my scalp started tingling and burning as the shampoo sat on my hair. Next in order to remove the shampoo, he used a “relaxer neutralizer” shampoo! The words were written right on the bottle that it was shampoo used to neutralize relaxers. After using the neutralizer shampoo once, he then went in with regular shampoo. At this point, I'm fairly certain that a chemical relaxer was added to my hair without my knowledge or consent. I sat down to get my hair blow dried and it came out bone straight simply after a blow dry. I have extremely thick, natural 4C hair, so my hair never gets that straight after a blow dry. I then sat down to get my ends trimmed. Instead of trimming my ends, this man started hacking away at my hair, and used the excuse that I had dead ends to justify giving me a cut instead of a trim. By the end of my appointment, my hair was completely uneven, dry, brittle, reeked of chemicals and burnt hair, and damaged. The next day, I couldn't stand the way my hair looked because it was so lackluster and damaged. It felt like straw, and was shedding terribly. I've been natural for 15 years, and have grown my hair past my bra strap, but yesterday because of how damaged my hair looked, the shedding, and because I was certain that they put a chemical In my hair without my consent, I was forced to cut my natural hair completely off. These people claim to know how to do black women’s hair, but really they're unknowingly putting chemicals in our hair and heat damaging it beyond repair! If you love your hair, do not go here!

It gets busy from Thus through Mon so bring your patience. They are very good at keeping track of who came in when, but I wish they had a sign-in sheet. Tell them what you want done when you walk in, the price will fluctuate based on your hair length. I've been going here when needed for years. CAREFUL who you go to, George is good, Joe is good, Adam is good. But the guy on the right at the far end is terrible. After going to him, I left with my hair smelling WORSE than when I walked in!

I came for a wash and blow dry. Bad experience. Not recommended for clients with natural hair. Please note I washed and detangled my hair the previous day so it was easier to manage. I entered the salon with an Afro which I understand can be hard to manage. It was obvious that no one really wanted to wash my hair as I walked in. You could tell that the first person to do my hair wasn’t really familiar with my hair type. They tried to detangle it dry and then with just water. There were multiple instances where they did not check the temperature of the water while washing my hair and I was lightly burned. They never combed my hair from root to end and would always started in the middle of my hair. They were very rough and agressive. There were a lot of positive reviews for the salon, but I wish I would have listened to the reviews stating for natural girlies not to come to this location.

Mena's customer service was outstanding. Joe and George are amazing professionals. I was so pleased with the services I received from Joe and George. They went above and beyond to help me find the perfect style for my upcoming event. I was very impressed with the quality of the products used to wash and condition my hair. I am beyond satisfied with my experience and highly recommend Joe's professional skill set to anyone looking for fabulous hair and fantastic service. It was great to have someone truly listen to what I wanted in a cut and color. Joe was very patient in answering all my queries and helped me understand different styles, hair textures, and colors. Joe was very informative on the best way to care for my hair, including product recommendations for my specific concerns. If you go to Mena's ask for Joe as your stylist and George as the person to wash your hair. They make a great team. You won't regret the experience!!! They're the best!! 👌👍 Maria

I went and the gentleman who did my hair was very nice. Customer service was great. However, I am a natural. I went to the shop in May, here it is a mo th later and I can't get this chemical smell out of my head. I have tried just about everything. I spent over $200 for my mom and myself. It was supposed to be a treat for my birthday and daughters graduation. What an expensive and devastating experience.
