My regular hairstylist for many years took an early retirement due to back problems and I've been very apprehensive about trying someone else, since I'm very particular about how I want my hair cut. Therefore, I hadn't had my hair cut in 4 months! I searched the web for barbers and hairstylists near me, and settled on Messenger, with fingers crossed. They don't take appointments, but there was no wait at all, since it's after the tourist season. I explained to Shane how I wanted my hair cut, and he took great care to follow my Instructions perfectly. The price was reasonable ($24 for a dry scissor cut, with a three-dollar senior discount). Since my only encounter is with Shane, he's the only one I can recommend, and I do so highly. He'll be my regular barber from now on.

We are new to Sarasota. My hubby was looking for a barber so I googled barbers and Messengers was close to where we were staying so he figured he would give it a try. He loved it! Great service and conversation with that “old-time” feel.

There the only barber I take my boys too. My sons trust them very much. They have a guy that newer there my oldest son adores because he very precise and detail . But Mr. Messenger is awesome he trys fixing my son hair and does very good job. I send people to him all the time. They truly know there stuff.

Took my son there and ended up needing to go somewhere else the next day to get the cut fixed. My son’s hair was shoulder length and he was getting a couple inches taken off. I think maybe longer men’s hair isn’t their specialty. If you have short hair I think they probably do good.

Messengers Barber Shop & Beauty Salon has been my saving grace for years. My journey began with Bryan and he showed me nothing but kindness and care. When Becky joined the crew she took over as my hairdresser/stylist. They both provide an atmosphere with real, unforced conversation while in their seat. Becky has dedicated many hours into my hair and never rushes or gives me anything less than her best work. As many brunettes striving to be a blonde know, it’s not easy to get the perfect color but Becky always nails it without a hitch. I leave the shop feeling like the best most beautiful, confident version of myself. They treat all their clients as close friends and you are always greeted with a smile. I highly recommend them to anyone for all their needs- as I’ve spent hours there I have also seen Bryan transform men into charming looking gentlemen with his crafted barber skills he received from his father. I will forever be a long time loyal customer. Give them a go! You will not regret it!

I have been coming to Messangers barbershop and beauty salon for almost 5 years, Becky is the only person I will let touch my hair, she and Brian are always going to hair shows to keep up with the latest trends, my male friends who go to Brian look so handsome when they leave. This was my first time there. Got a great haircut my wife really liked at a good price. Brian the owner is a 3rd generation barber. The shop has been in the family since 1974 with plenty of memorabilia including a huge rack of magazines going back to the 1940s. Highly recommend this business.

I had to get my son a haircut, so he would be good to go for prom that same night. I googled barber shops, and decided to give Messenger's a try being that they were one of the first to open that morning-and I wanted to get it done and out of the way. I was really impressed with the gentleman who cut my sons hair..he was precise, and had us in and out of there within 10 minutes. He even had a prom story of his very own (three to be exact) that my son and I both got a real kick out of, lol. Thanks again for the great service, and your funny story as well-we had quite the laugh, afterwards.
