So happy with my hair! I was able to book a last minute appointment before traveling. Darlene was efficent, in and out in less than 2 hours for a silk press! She gave me tips about improving the health of my hair and recommended maintenance intervals. I will definitely be back for routine maintenance in a few weeks.

We need more stars for Ms. Darlene! I went to her for my very first sew-in, and my experience was amazing from start to finish. I came to her very last minute but she was still so kind, accommodating, and patient with me as someone who didn't know much about sew-ins. She was very clear and responsive from our very first exchange. She was so gentle and thorough with my hair, and I absolutely loved how my hair turned out. I cannot recommend her enough!

I love my new haircut! I requested a long “bob,” and Darlene followed up with all the different ways it could be cut. She suggested that I look online for the style I wanted. When she was ready to cut, she showed me my ends and pointed out where it would be best to cut. I went with her recommendation, and I couldn't be happier with it! My visits are always enjoyable—Darlene is down-to-earth and fun to talk to. And above all else, she puts the health of your hair first.

I adore my new cut and color! My appointment was booked quickly and with ease (use the app!). Communication was clear and pleasant. My salon experience was really peaceful, it was beautiful, a comfortable temperature, and hospitality was a 12 out of 10. My entire process of haircut, dying, styling was efficient, relaxing, and the end result is above and beyond what I was expecting! I 100% am going to be a repeat client! Thank you so so so much!

So I googled “black hair salons near me” I live in San Jose, and I was pleasantly surprised to have Metamorphosed Hair by Darlene René pop up only an exit away from my home! I called multiple times first before booking bc that’s what the site said to do. Since there was no answer and no option to leave a message and I didn’t want to miss the appointment available I went ahead and booked. You have to also pay a deposit and wait for the appointment to be accepted. Later she called me and asked if I had a referral to which I said no bc I literally don’t know anyone in the bay. She was going to let me down politely saying she doesn’t accept new clients only referrals(which I found strange since it allows you to book on the site) but then she said it’s fine and I can keep the appointment. I was so happy! I finally didn’t need to go to the East bay or get my hair cut by white and Asian people who don’t know how to do my hair! Planned my whole day to get my hair done for the next day only to receive a cancellation with no reason why at the end of the day. So I called this morning just wanting to know what happened or if I need to reschedule another time, or even if she just changed her mind, which she is entitled to do, but still no response. Nothing. I can’t even get a voicemail to leave a message. Such a disappointment. Weird way to run a business. I am literally in tears. 😭Devastated and confused 😕

I had found this stylist off of tik tok and had gave her a call. After the call I gave my mom the go to book and she was able to get my mom in today before her anniversary. My mom said she had a great experience and it looks amazing aswell! My mom was unsure about finding a new stylist due to being with the same Braider for nearly a decade, but I’m very happy she had a great experience an found another long term stylist. My mom has 4c hair as well it’s suppperrrr silky after just a silk press. Don’t be hesitant to book! Can’t wait to get mine done when I’m back in cali!

I have been going to Darlene for about a year. It’s made a huge difference in my hair. It is healthier and longer than it has ever been. She is always friendly, accommodating, reasonably priced and doesn’t overbook (all of my black ladies remember what used to happen back in the day with other stylists..lol). She is always clear with her pricing and services and doesn’t push me to do something I don’t want to do. And she has me laughing everyone time I visit. I’m so happy I found her.

There is no way all the 5-star reviews are real. Darlene is the most unprofessional stylist I have ever experienced. She cares nothing about customer experience. I highly doubt she is licensed to do hair in any state, let alone California.

Darlene is a fantastic stylist. I've been to a lot of stylists and the results from Darlene speak for themselves. My hair is long and healthy, root to tip and I get so many compliments when I leave after my visit. She is attentive and creates a relaxing environment for you to treat yourself. Thank you Darlene! Disregard the negative reviews! I had a great experience! Getting my hair done by Darlene was so relaxing I had to take a nap when I got home. Her space is also very clean and well furnished. I got a cut and a relaxer and the whole time she made sure I was okay. She could also tell when my scalp was burning which im glad she did because I was going to let it burn so she could do all that she planned to do. But rinsing it in the time she did saved me from damage. I love my new cut and my hair feels amazing! I will definitely be coming back!

I'm just reading a review that doesn't sit right in my spirit, I've been coming to Darlene for over 6 years I a have never seen her upstairs. She is the funniest, most honest professional stylist I ever had.​ You would have to truly do something horrible to take her out of her character. My hair is always top notch when I leave and I have always been pleasantly pleased with my services.

Darlene is truly an angel! I live in Florida but visit San Jose frequently. I’ve been contemplating cutting my hair off for a couple months. While staying in San Jose I found Darlene on google after reading through many other stylist reviews. Her work matched the desired style I would personally wear. To meet a stylist who is professional, communicative, and does impeccable work says a lot in the time we are in now in the world. She cut my hair to perfection and styled it just how I envisioned. The picture with my hair before the cut was a couple months before the big chop is what Darlene did. I now wear my hair with confidence and can’t wait to grow it back healthy. Thank you Darlene! She also gave me some great life advice which I will forever hold with me in my heart. Go book with her I promise you WONT be disappointed at ALL! My experience at this salon was mixed, some positive and some negative. I had not combed or washed my hair in a month and having natural 4C Afro hair, it was understandably tangled. At the salon, my expectation was that my hair would be detangled before washing but this didn’t happen. My hair was directly shampooed and anyone who has 4C hair knows this just makes it worse. During the deep conditioning, my hair was very roughly brushed to remove the tangles. I have never experienced such tough brushing on my hair before. Of course this didn’t help much because by the time we came to blow drying, the tangles were still in and it was quite painful to sit through. When I asked if I was supposed to come with already detangled hair, my stylist said no but my question must have offended her because she asked if I’d rather do it myself and said I was complaining. The positives of this experience were; clean salon, conversation was good till I asked my question about detangling and also at the end. Moving forward, I will be handling my 4C hair by myself as I’ve always done and with the gentleness that it deserves.

Really enjoy my experience with Darlene. She is attentive to detail and understand the texture of my hair. Her salon is clean and neat and she is always offering her clients little refreshments and checking on their experience. This place was very clean. Darlene is so nice and funny. She made me feel like family. I was so comfortable when she use to wash my hair. Even though I am in a wheelchair and it was harder to wash my hair, she even went and bought something to make it easier to wash my hair. The last time I seen her was right before Christmas, I went online to schedule a appointment. The day of appointment I called, no one answered I called later that day, but still no answer. I tried reaching out to her,a few days later, because at this point I am worried I knew it was not like her to miss an appointment but still no answer. I just pray she's OK. She's a vary good beautician ❣️

Darlene does amazing work. Absolutely cannot recommend this salon enough, every time I go I get consistent, quality service. I have 4A-very dense hair type and usually get a wash, blow dry, flatiron and style. I don't consistently straighten my hair, but every time I do, I see Darlene. It's been over 6 years since my first visit. Very pleasant atmosphere and extremely clean.

I am so thrilled to have found Darlene! She is extremely knowledgeable about hair types and transitioning. I wanted to grow out my relaxer and was trying to do it on my own and doing a terrible job of it. I was losing hair and had a couple of bald spots. I booked an appointment with Darlene and she gave the perfect solution for me. She put me in interlocks and deep conditions in between. My hair is growing in thick and healthy. I highly recommend!

Not only did Darlene give me a great cut and color with highlights, but the energy she brings is EVERYTHING. Styling with the pop of Darlene yellow. My solan experience was cozy and felt familiar although I was a new client. A simple small studio that gives you the personal feeling of being cared for in hood hands. What started out as a search onvargo for hair stylist who specializes in course thick hair became getting my hair colored and silk pressed Stylist Darlene also commented on hair tips and sujestion on keeping my hair healthy and was very percoussious when coming to the point of caring about the health of my hair Thanks Vargaro I definitely will return and am excited about my new look
