Kiyo was AMAZING. This was my first time cutting my hair other than a simple trim - I went from very long hair to a beautiful shaggy / layered cut right below my shoulders. I did not have a clear idea of what I wanted and Kiyo took the time to understand my desires and concerns and checked in with me and took the time to modify the cut at the end till I was so happy.

Masa cut my hair today and it looks incredible. Best haircut I have ever received. He was so kind and attentive. He followed my inspiration photo exactly and let me know what he was doing every step of the way. I booked my next appointment with him right away.

Got a haircut from Suguru back in October. Probably the best hair cut of my life and it's still going strong. After showing the inspo and listening to my concerns (cowlicks and hair loss), he took his time and considered the texture of my hair, my head shape, and my normal hair styling routine (which is very very minimal). He added life back into my hair, more rhythm, more volume in areas that needed it like the back of my head. He also kept in mind that I wear glasses and ensured to cut my front layers such that they'd sit around my glasses versus getting in my face. I very much appreciated that. He was very thoughtful in the cut itself and it was extremely insightful to hear his explanations on the choices he made to make the inspo work for me. Knowing the general vibe I was going for, he even suggested a hair style that could work for me for next time. All in all, everyone was kind, I feel great about getting such a thoughtful cut, I feel a little less clueless about my hair and months later, still feel good. I would definitely go back.

Found this salon on instagram and was looking to try a new style since growing out my hair. The cuts I saw resonated with what I wanted so I booked with Kiyo. When I arrived, the staff were super friendly and helpful. I showed Kiyo the style/cut I wanted and he expressed his thoughts and gave his input. In the end, he executed it well and am super happy with the results. Looking forward to going back!

First time getting a haircut here! I had an appointment with Kiyo and he was so nice and attentive through every step of my haircut. I have long thick hair and was way over due for a cut. Kiyo made sure to explain how to achieve certain styles with the curtain bangs I asked for. The bangs were tailored for my face shape which I really appreciated too. Super happy with the outcome and it was awesome to work with him!

I visited MEY New York for a men’s haircut with a master stylist. The price for a Master’s Haircut is listed online as a range of $140-$170, regardless of gender. As a male with already short hair, my service involved minimal trimming of the top and shortening the sides. I specifically requested scissors for most of the cut, with clippers only used for contours and the nape. The experience, unfortunately, fell short of expectations: My appointment was rescheduled by the salon shortly before the original time, and multiple confirmations were required afterward. Despite having a booked appointment, I still had to wait 15-20 minutes upon arrival. For the service provided, I was charged the maximum price of $170 (excluding tax), which felt excessive given the simplicity of the requested cut. Adding to the frustration, I was not allowed to leave the salon without registering for their tipping app, which I found highly intrusive. When the app setup failed, I ended up tipping via Google Pay - a stressful and unnecessary process. While the haircut itself was acceptable, the overall experience did not justify the high price. The insistence on app-based tipping in the salon was both inconvenient and, frankly, inappropriate. For these reasons, I would not recommend MEY New York and will not return.

First time here and I had a wonderful experience with Kiyo! My last haircut was uneven and not only was he able to completely create my desired hairstyle (with bangs), he was able to fix the unevenness. He’s talented and nice, and patiently answered all my questions about styling and maintanence. I could tell he put a lot of care into my hair and was not rushed. Easily the best haircut I’ve had in the city so far.

I was so impressed with Kiyo! Tired of the same old one-length bobs and struggling to find stylists skilled in razor cutting, I did extensive research and finally booked an appointment with him at Mey Salon in NYC. Unlike my usual 15-minute haircuts, Kiyo was incredibly detailed and thoughtful, carefully explaining each step of the process and even showing me how to maintain the style at home. He meticulously refined the cut at least three times to ensure we were both completely satisfied. I can't recommend him highly enough!

I’ve been here twice now and both with Kiyo and have been extremely happy with the results on my wavy hair. He’s very attentive to your vision but also gives ideas that end up being super helpful. I’ve been really happy with my cuts at MEY and they’ve grown out really nicely even after almost a year. Definitely recommend!

Recently came here for the first time and Masa knocked it out of the park! Loved the wolf cut he gave me. As an asian man with long hair, it's hard to find a place that knows how to work with my type of hair but Masa did such a great job. Appreciated his input on my style and his humor while cutting my hair. Definitely will be coming back.

Got my hair cut by Masa and loved it! I have thinning hair and wanted a wolf cut without losing too much volume. He adjusted to wolf cut to fit my hair type and give it more volume. So happy with this cut, my hair feels so much healthier!

I had a haircut with Masa today. He was very respectful and soft-spoken, and extremely attentive and communicative. I usually feel uncomfortable at hair salons, especially when I feel like the hairstylist doesn't actually understand what kind of cut I'm asking for, but Masa asked many questions and spoke very gently with me. One thing that immediately stood out to me during our appointment was that he took pictures of the reference photos I showed him, so that he could constantly refer back to them while working on my hair. I've been to several hair salons before and the stylist would always just look at the reference photo once before cutting my hair. Of course, my hair never ended up like the reference photo because of that, but Masa made sure to carefully study the photos I showed him, and he was very meticulous with cutting my hair. Whenever Masa was about to put a product in my hair, he always showed me what it was. He also explained how to style my hair. I appreciate how communicative he was and how gentle his demeanor was. It felt like a very private experience. The atmosphere of the salon was quiet; I don't think there was any background music playing, and all the stylists were concentrated on their respective clients, so there wasn't a lot of conversation going on, but it was very calming. I had a very pleasant experience here! Would recommend.

I'm visiting for the holidays and got my hair colored and cut by Kiyo for the first time. I chose this place because they seemed to have experience with cuts involving a lot of layers. I couldn't be more satisfied with the results! Kiyo did an amazing job giving me exactly what I requested, and I am pretty particular about what I want. He was very attentive and patient throughout the whole process, and he showed much expertise in coloring and cutting my hair! I also appreciated his efforts to understand exactly what I wanted and answering all my questions. Overall, I will definitely be booking more appointments whenever I visit NYC!

Just had a haircut from Suguru, and it was such a great experience! He’s super nice and friendly, took his time to really understand what I wanted, and made sure everything was just right. He nailed 5 out of the 5 things I asked for and didn’t rush at all—he took the time to perfect every little detail. Plus, he’s so easy to talk to, which made the whole thing even better. Definitely happy with the result. The rest of the crew were also so genuinely nice—it felt like everyone truly cared about making it a great experience. The Vice President himself welcomed me (still can’t believe it—check the photo!) :)

Masa killed it. Crushed it. Ate. The cut and styling was so good that I will be coming back for a perm (something I've been putting off for a while due to not trusting my stylists) very soon. I came in without a clear idea of what I wanted besides reshaping my hair and keeping the length. Masa listened to me carefully, suggested some framing bangs. I thought things were going poorly until the end of the cut when he put a curler to my freshly cut hair and styled it, which is where the difference is, I think. I'm so excited to make this permanent with a perm.
