I asked for a normal, shoulder-length haircut, and received an angular bob instead. The stylist cut the back of my hair first, so by the time I realized that she had cut it several inches shorter than what we agreed upon, my hair was gone and there was no way of getting what I had asked for. I left feeling ok about it—I was a bit miffed at receiving a haircut I didn’t agree to, but the bob looked cool when blown out straight and styled. However, after washing my hair and letting it go back to its normal wavy state, I realized that 1. my hair is now chin-length, which is WAY shorter than what I asked for, and 2. the cut won’t look good unless I straighten my hair every day (I never style my hair). I’m very disappointed that the stylist did not respect my wishes or even give me a haircut that works for my hair type. I guess I’ll have to wait 4 or 5 months until my hair grows out to the desired length and I can get it fixed. Unfortunate to have to pay $80 (before tip) for a haircut I did not want, ask for, or agree to, especially on a student budget. Not recommended unless you’re feeling adventurous.

I don't comment much, but Milo did such a good job! I showed him one photo and he did exactly what I was expected. Also he explained some of technical things about the way my hair grows which I liked! Definitely my favorite place to get haircut in Hyde Park area. Also fair price!!

Great place, easy to find on 53rd Street, clean and luminous. People there are very nice and welcoming. Paulina did a great job, and my hair looks so good.

I love the haircut I got from Tania here! I was overdue for a haircut and I got a couple inches off as well as layers from Tania, and she did an amazing job! I have coarse Asian hair, and she did an amazing job. She was very focused and efficient during the haircut and I would definitely come back!

I had a terrible haircut done at a different salon and came to Milo to have him fix it. He paid extremely close attention to detail and turned my horrible haircut into something beautiful! Milo always does an amazing job and I will only go to him for haircuts from now on.

It was a great experience. I spoke about what I wanted and appreciated when Milo suggested something slightly different that he felt would better serve my needs. He was extremely meticulous making sure every part was perfect. We had good conversation and I left with a long overdue change. I'll be back.

My stylist did an awesome job I think her name is Ramona. I showed her a picture and she cut exactly what I asked for. Also my hair is very thick and tangles, she was so patient with my hair. Some stylist get overwhelmed but she washed and detangled without judgenent. I highly recommend! It was a good price also for quality work. I will be back!

I went to Milo's in May 2021. I hadn't had a haircut in a year and a half due to the pandemic. The good: the haircut was quick and efficient. But it was quick and efficient because he ignored my wishes. I told him that my hair was thick and tangling constantly. He said that the person who knows my hair best is me, I agreed and explained to him that usually I get it either thinned or layers added every year and a half or so, because without that my hair gets tangled and damaged. I also told him that I condition often and shampoo only every couple of days so as to allow my thick, curly hair to flourish. Imagine my surprise when after the wash, he tells me that he shampooed my hair twice and didn't condition it. At all. He then used a detangling leave-in spray and said it was the same thing. As a girl with curly thick hair, I can guarantee it isn't. He then said that we would not be thinning my hair, and that he was going to cut any existing layers into one blunt cut. I trusted him, which is on me. It was fast, and that's all I can say about it. In the weeks since the haircut, my hair has been even /more/ unruly and tangled than before, and its thickness has been blunted in appearance by the cut, but it's as thick as ever when it comes to maintenance. In addition, for the first two weeks, it was bone dry, and I had to spend time giving it extra conditioning and a mask to save it from getting more damaged than it already was. This is my 2nd time getting a cut from Milo's. The first time, I told the haircutter that my hair was curly, particularly when cut short. She said throughout the cut that she didn't believe me, and this was clearly true when she cut my side bang very very short. It curled up and did not look good and she spent 10 minutes fruitlessly trying to fix it. So both times I've gone they've ignored me and opted instead for the quickest most efficient route. I think that for someone who wants a simple cut, this is the place to go: they are very fast. Otherwise, skip it.

Absolutely fantastic service! I absolutely love my cut and color, and Milo has been so helpful with recommendations for how to keep my hair healthy. He spent so much time making sure it was exactly what I wanted, and I am so happy with how it turned out! I would highly recommend this place. Really really great service!

I highly recommend Milo hair salon for everyone in Hydepark. If you are new in hydepark just go to Milo for hair cut. You will definetly look good after his stylo mylo cut. He is someone who cuts your hair patiently and nicely....I had been going to his salon all this while.

I met Milo five years ago when he worked in a shop near Lake Shore Drive. He has given me the best haircuts of my life in quality, speed, and price. All around friendly and kind guy who doesn't talk too much or too little. He also recently renovated his store front himself, and it looks great. If I'm ever in Chicago, Milo is my guy!

It was my first time going here, but Milo cut my hair like he's been doing it my whole life. Everyone there was super friendly and made me feel really comfortable and welcome. I love my haircut--really good and careful job. You can tell he takes pride in his work. I will absolutely be coming back, maybe more often then I anticipated.
