Masae is a gem!! I took my mom to her after a terrible perm at another salon, and Masae completely transformed her hair with a treatment and a stylish cut! She explained everything clearly and was so friendly the entire time, making us feel at ease. I highly recommend her!!!!

Masae truly works her magic every single time I see her. I’ve been going to her since 2020 and I will never forget my first experience when Masae put me completely at ease. I used store bought hair color to do myself at home during the pandemic and she changed my anxiety about going to hair salons, mainly because my hair always turns out the same reddish brown shade which I got tired of seeing when I went to previous salons. My excitement when I finally see how my hair turned out always exceeds my expectations and I can’t wait to show it off. Always the best experience!! Thank you Masae for all that you do to make us all look beautiful!

I live in NJ, but recently had my hair cut and styled at Minima Hair when I was in NYC. Based on my first experience, I definitely will return. Usually I get “antsy” sitting in a chair while getting my hair cut, but with Masae, it was not so. Her fingers and tools seemed to levitate effortlessly (magically!) in the air around my head. And Masae was so friendly and personable, and easy to talk to while she worked, that I didn’t notice time passing. When I looked in the mirror after she was done, I was amazed at how well she had transformed my hair and by extension, my overall appearance. I have received so many compliments on my new style, and the best thing for me is that it has been so low maintenance! I can only hope that Minima opens an outpost in NJ! ;)

I’ve been getting my hair cut with Masae for ten years. She is dependable, consistent, and a great communicator. Her website makes it very easy to schedule and she is an efficient and friendly stylist. My favorite thing about Masae is that she really listens to what you want and helps you find the style that makes you most confident! Also, she consistently stays on top of the latest products and recommends vegan solutions that keep my hair and scalp healthy. I have also sent my husband to Masae for a great men’s cut. Highly recommend!

Masae is the best! I’ve been seeing her for years now, and she never fails to deliver exactly what I’m looking for. Initially, I would only ask for haircuts, which she executed so well that I ended up following her when she left the salon where we met. I had never colored my hair before, but after the pandemic I decided to change things up. Masae has been an amazing partner through my color journey; she’s great at taking my vague ideas and inspiration pictures and sharing what she thinks will work best for my hair. And she’s always right :) I definitely recommend Masae for all things hair!

I began going to Masae for haircuts about 4 years ago, but there was a pause in last 2 years while we were on lock down due to the pandemic. Today I was able to schedule a hair appointment with Masae to correct highlights (from another salon) and for a short haircut. I left her salon feeling terrific and my hair looked 100% better! She corrected my brassy highlights and gave me a sophisticated short bob w/an edgey vibe that complemented by face. I love the fact that she is attentive to detail, cuts my pin straight hair efficiently, without sacrificing style. And her short haircuts grow out very well to boot! Definitely worth making an appointment with her if you are in the city!

I have been going to Masae since July and I am beyond thrilled. She has done my color, highlights, and cut and it's all been great!! Plus, Masae is a pleasure to go to, she is so easy to talk to and kind hearted.  I close my eyes when she cuts/trims my hair-that is how comfortable I feel. I highly recommend Masae!

I've never felt strongly about committing to a hair stylist until Masae. Just look at her work - it speaks for itself! She's extremely talented at giving you what you ask for while also communicating limits and expectations - e.g. when I first came to her, I went from dark brown/black Asian hair to a light gray balayage over the course of a few months and she was careful along the way to make sure my hair not only looked good during the lightening process, but was as healthy as it could be. We've been through a few different processes and we're starting to warm it up with some hints of brown lately (in the attached images) and I love it! I've been seeing Mashae for a few years and can't imagine going to anybody else who's as talented, genuine, and lovely - who else am I going to be able to say "do whatever you want" to and come out looking like this! An absolute master at her craft, Mashae is the person to visit for healthy, lived-in locks.

I have been using Masae service for almost 3 years. She always patiently listens to my ideas on how to cut or colour my hair, then she will offer her professional views. She is open to ideas and tries her best to work it out as close to my idea as possible. I have been trying various hairstyles with her skillful cut and am satisfied with them. I had my very first hair colouring done by Masae and she picked the right colour and introduces various choices to colour my hair. Masae has been cutting my hair for 20 years, and is absolutely amazing, she does a great job every single time. She knows how to work with the fact that I don't own a hairdryer or hair products and don't get my hair cut often enough -- I am really bad/lazy at dealing with my hair. So she cuts it so I can't mess it up! I used to have very fine but thick, straight hair, then it started getting wavy -- she dealt with both equally well. More recently, I've had alopecia for the last 10 years, which means I lose my hair in large patches (and parts are now somewhat curly plus it's starting to go grey), and she has again adapted how she cuts it to make it look good. At this point I just say, do what you think will look best and I'm always really happy. I recommend her so highly, Masae is the best!

Masae is amazing! I recently went to her for a haircut and blue/gray hair color, and I am so pleased with the results! Since it was an unusual color I was asking for, I was unsure about how it would turn out, but Masae did an amazing job. She was very thoughtful about getting it the color I wanted it and made sure to take time at the beginning to understand the exact look I was going for. I really appreciate the thought and care she put into the whole process. She was really delightful in every way and I highly recommend!

Misae was great! I really loved my balayage which Misae was able to achieve even though I haven’t touched up my roots in a year! She was really thoughtful about what kind of tones I wanted and what would work best with the color that I currently have. She was also very informative about hair care post-balayage.
