Probably the top place for a haircut that I’ve found in the South Bay. I have wavy hair that I used to like to keep at a (male version of) medium length, and I’ve found it difficult to find someone that can cut it properly. Johnny’s such an excellent person and he’s good at what he does. He comes from a hair stylist family, and his work shows that the ability is in him. I gave him a reference photo the first time I saw him, and he matched it well. The next time, he suggested a different style. I agreed, and though it took a day to get used to, now that’s all I want (especially after being complimented, which is a rare occurrence for one’s “looks” as a man). I find he does a superb job and has mountains of experience!

This business engaged in questionable business tactics and does not uphold their word. If you value your time, money, and hair, DO NOT GO HERE!!! (The photos below show my hair prior to the visit, the reference photo I showed the stylist, and the hairstyle I got) I went in for a hair trim on December 12th, I explained repeatedly that I did not want my hair thinned or overly layered, given the texture of my hair when it is thinned or layered too much it puffs up like a mushroom and becomes unmanageable. Despite this, the stylist, Johnny Granado continued to use thinning shears on my hair, and layered my hair as short as 1 inch. I also requested that my blond peek-a-boo have the roots redone, I told Johnny that my hair goal was to get the streak white/clear, but understood it would take a couple of sessions to achieve (as I have naturally dark hair). The stylist reassured me that he could get me to white/clear in one session. While the bleach was in my hair he brought over the book to choose my toner, however he forced me to pick one of three dark gray tones. Confused I reminded him that I wanted it white/clear, he reassured me that this was the process and I would have a white/clear streak by the end but I needed to choose one of these three darker tones (he even used his hands to cover the other colors telling me not to pick from them). Reluctant, but trusting in his abilities I chose the lightest color I could. As you can see from the photos nothing that I requested was adhered to. He chopped it far shorter than where I had requested, he also purposefully cut it uneven saying it would give it an "asymmetrical" look (after showing discontent he offered to adjust this but clarified he would have cut even MORE hair to do this, so I refused). He assured me the hair would lay better once the product was washed out and that the blonde would "lighten up" over a few days. Deeply dissatisfied I reached back out to the salon, me and stylist had come to resolution of being reimbursed and he said he would send it over promptly. After two weeks went by, and no further correspondence I had to dispute the charge with my bank, unfortunately due to a processing error it was denied 01/30/24. After failed attempts to establish correspondence I wrote a review 02/06/24, immediately Johnny Granado called my personal cell phone at 7pm demanding I take the review down, claiming he had already sent the refund. As a show of good faith I removed my review and attempted to continue correspondence with Johnny. The following emails were vague, and fraught with misinformation. He claimed that he had already sent the reimbursement and that their merchant company Vegaro was holding the funds until my bank completed their investigation, he also added that he did not dispute the charge and sent me an email from Forward from Vegaro, however it clearly states in the email from Vegaro that he DID disputed the charge. He told me I needed to be patient and wait 62 days for the funds to be released to me. 4/12/24 came along and I still had not received any follow up or reimbursement. I had been in contact with my bank and they reached out to the salon on a three way call with me and the owner, Angel. She said that the refund would promptly be sent over via Venmo and they just needed my QR code. After sending that code, I received nothing. I texted them a follow up the next day but still received no response. After speaking with my bank as what I can do, they informed me that my only recourse at this point is to pursue legal action. Needless to say I am incredibly disheartened at this experience, I have never been treated so poorly by an establishment in my life. The stress and headaches I had to endure on top of having my hair butchered has completely shaken my faith in salons and I can honestly say that Johnny Granado has ruined my trust in hairstylists and I will NEVER go to another salon again.

I had walked past here several months ago and thought I would check it out because I was impressed with how great they made the interior of an old tofu shop look. I saw you could book appointments online so I booked one with Johnny. I was greeted by a sweet pug, and enjoyed petting him while I waited. I had no idea what I wanted for a haircut but described the functionality I wanted to Johnny. He asked several questions, and got to work. We had a great conversation, I felt like I unexpectedly made a friend. At the end of the appointment my hair looked the best it has ever looked, and was functionally exactly what I described. I will definitely be back!

Just got my hair cut and balayage done by Marc and the cutest greeter Chato, the pug, both of which made sure I was well tended to. Marc did an amazing job. He puts lots of care into making sure the hair cut and color are perfect. Trust me, he does not rush to finish things. He makes sure it's done to perfection and even came in on his day off. He makes sure to accommodate those who can not come in during their normal work days, which is fantastic. He's very good at recommending the products that you need and won't recommend you something if you don't need it. If you want to know what products are recommended for your hair to keep it in great condition, just schedule a consultation with him and I'm sure he'd be happy to recommend some products to keep your hair shiny and healthy.

Marc is an expert stylist with virtuoso coloring talents. I love going to his station at Mr. & Mrs. salon. It is an intimate place with a unique interior that makes it the perfect spot to relax as Marc spoils you with his expertise in all things hair...and Mr. & Mrs. location in walkable Japantown is an added bonus.

Johnny and I am so happy I think I’ve found a hair stylist next to my house. I feel like more people should know about this place. Great conversations, atmosphere, and cut will be coming back again and again. If you go online and it says they are booked out try being put on the waiting list on their web app. I was able to get in easy. It’s definitely worth waiting to get in to be seen though. So happy I found this place, I’ve been leaving barbers and hair stylists feeling disappointed since I’ve moved here. If you want a clean stylish cut this is the place to be!

I absolutely love this place. Angel is awesome! She is super talented and creative. I've been with her since 2014 and I have never been disappointed with her work. She is so sweet, accommodating and professional. She constantly keeps up with new trends and styles. The salon is always clean and the decor is fabulous. So different from your typical salon style.
