I discovered Miwa-Alex Salon 2 years ago. In these 2 years I have never been disappointed. I have had beautiful hair cuts and hair color with Mary and excellent blow dries with Maria. The atmosphere is very gracious and pleasant at the salon. It also has a special feature I have not found anywhere else. Besides having a traditional sink for hair washing, Miwa-Alex also has shampoo beds. At Miwa-Alex, I can lie on a bed and have my hair washed without needing to bend and hyperextend my neck. It is so much more comfortable. It is especially good for me because I have arthritis in my neck. I highly recommend this lovely salon.

Truly the best haircut I’ve ever gotten. My stylist is Terue and when I moved to NY, other hair stylists recommended Terue to me. She is an expert in cut and style. My hair looks great when I leave the salon to months later because the cut is so good and that’s saying a lot since I have so many layers! I also love the products she uses from Japan. A great salon experience all around, thanks to Terue!

A real NYC gem with talented staff. Always prompt. Perfect color and cut during my 10 plus years as a client. If you need a new salon, this is it.

This is an update of a review I wrote a few years ago. I have been going to Terue since 2003 and left NYC in 2006 but still make a point of coming back to NY 1-2 times a year to see her since no one else compares. Getting my haircut by Terue is better than therapy since I look and feel so much better afterward. She is a true artist and very meticulous and precise when she cuts my hair. Best of all, her haircuts keep their shape and look good over a long time so I don't have to go back for frequent visits, which is important since I don't live in NY.
