I've been going to Mockingbird Salon for more than a decade, and recommend them to everyone I know. My current stylist, Melissa LaRosa, is an absolute rockstar. My color is impeccable every single time, and she has fantastic instincts on what will be flattering--both in how she cuts my hair and her color formula tweaks. She is so obviously incredibly talented at her job, and if that weren't enough to keep me coming back every couple of months, her warm and engaging personality would. She is always so kind, patient, and just fun to spend time with. Melissa is a true gem of a stylist and human being, and I am tremendously grateful to have her and Mockingbird in my corner!

Melissa was phenomenal. Great person to chat with, amazing service, and yall omg MY HAIR is so freaking bad*ss! I have worn it all possible ways: styled, with product, air dried, blow dried, curled without heat, curled with heat, and now without product and completely air dried. It is SO GOOD in all the ways. AND she gave me a kick*ss under cut. If I could give her an extra star, I would. The salon is great vibes, loved the other stylists I met, and just super super cute decor. Perfect atmosphere that I was looking for, and the head massage with tea tree oil was incredible. Absolutely reasonably priced for the service and style I received. I’d have happily paid more. I’ll definitely be going back.

Abbey was incredible. So sweet, really communicative, and gave me a great cut. I’ve never had my hair styled by someone who actually understands curly hair, and it’s amazing!

I've been going to Mockingbird Salon since it opened. This place is warm, inviting, fun, and professional--the absolute best. I've driven from NY, MD, and NJ to get my hair cut here because I love the experience and the people so very much. You will feel cared for and at ease and will leave with a haircut that is worth every penny.

Ezra always slays my beachy wave blowouts and gives an excellent shampoo! We also did a toner gloss last time to cool down my faded blond and it was perfection.

Ezra is new to her position but sooo good! She gave me an amazing haircut today and was really helpful in informing me about different products for my hair type, but wasn't trying to push me into buy anything, which I really appreciated. I walked out of the salon feeling like a million bucks! Thanks to a great team <3

I went here recently for the first time and got my haircut by Sam. I made the appointment the day-of, because I was in a rush to get it cut before an event. Sam did an amazing job and the cut came out exactly how I hoped! I will definitely go back and recommend to other people.

Kass helped me figure out how to deal with my curly hair when I had lots and lots of questions. And everyone there is friendly! I'm almost never been happy with a haircut, but Kass has done a great job every time.

Love this salon. I've been going here for a few years and after trying a lot of salons since moving back to Philly from NYC, it's now the only place I'll go. Justin has been doing my coloring and haircuts. I just chopped all my hair off and I love it so much. Justin is so patient and listening and really works with you on what your vision is. Highly recommend Justin for anyone looking for someone who does great color or cuts!

I had a great experience at Mockingbird! Kass was my hairstylist and they did an incredible job. So patient, kind, and knew exactly what I wanted. I felt so comfortable and I’m a very anxious person when getting haircuts but I felt so at ease. I have curly hair and she made my curls way tighter and more defined. I walked out feeling great :) Would totally reccomend!

I walked the plank today- first time coloring and having a professional styled cut since before Covid! Of course I had butchered my hair on my own and Melissa was absolutely phenomenal!!!! Let’s just say that I’ve been coloring my hair since I was 14 (I’m 48 now) and have been so many places- well now she’s stuck with me because I won’t go to anyone else!

I’ve had my haircut my Stephanie three times now and every time she absolutely kills it. She has nailed my requests every time and takes the time to explain her thoughts on my suggestions. I also love her style of razor cutting, it has added volume to my heavier hair which ends up just falling flat in the past. She is amazing !!!

Melissa is AWESOME! She listened to everything I wanted to do with my hair and really makes you feel heard. She made sure to confirm with me what she was doing/cutting so I would be okay with it (I had really long hair and was slightly terrified of getting it cut). She is also just a really cool person and made my salon experience super enjoyable! She made sure I was happy with my hair. The salon itself is very cute and clean as well. Definitely worth the drive from DE :)

My stylist was Ellie, for just a basic cut, I was in and out in 30 minutes and I think this is the best hair I’ve ever had. Absolutely fantastic.

The salon experience was amazing and it was such a friendly and relaxing vibe. Melissa listened to all of my concerns and offered recommendations that worked best with my hair type and face shape. My haircut was better than what I had envisioned. I love the cut! And as an added bonus, she showed me how to style my hair in a low maintenance way.

After seeing a post on FB, I decided to reach out to Melissa and man am I glad I did. It's been years since I've cut my hair for several reason, but she was AMAZING!! We talked over what I wanted before she started cutting my hair and checked in with me throughout to make sure I was still loving it. I left feeling confident and beautiful and completely in love with my haircut for the first time in my life. I cannot wait until I need another haircut!!

I REALLY liked coming here. All the stylist here are so relaxed and create an inviting feeling. Huge shout out to Abby. She’s great at cutting curls. I have thick hair and a lot of hair. A lot of stylist struggle to take weight off my hair but she knew what to do. I loved watching her take her razor cutter and effortlessly cut hair off ☺️

I had a great experIence having my hair cut with Melissa today. Its been YEARS since I had a salon experience and it was great. Her personality is bright and fun, she is patient and listens well. I told her about my lack of girly styling skills and the simplicity im prone to :wash, air dry overnight, brush and goooo! Melissa gave a very professional insightful plan of action and suggested I actually try to go for more texture and keep a bit more length than I anticipated. My at home crazy colorjob was praised and appreciated! The result is stunning, simple to replicate and makes me feel incredible. Im not typically much of a talker but honestly Melissas vibe was so relaxed and friendly I had a blast. The booking experience by phone was very smooth and efficient, cancellation policy was clearly outlined with confidence and checkout was swift since my card was already on file. I like this salon a-lot, it’s cute, clean, colorful, smells lovely with more natural scents and has continuity of style. The 9 am weekday appointment wasn’t too people-y and I felt greeted with warmth and enthusiasm. If your looking to get a cut and style, without feeling judged on any level class, income level, gender expression- this salon and its staff are the place for you too! Highly recommend Melissa.

I hadn’t been to this salon since covid started. Had only 3 haircuts in the last 2 1/2 years. The two stylists I used in the past left. I explained what I needed and the owner recommended Stephanie. I have long white hair and I was looking for a whole new look. Oh my gosh she’s amazing ! My hair now looks like I always wanted it to look! She exceeded my expectations! The salon is clean and bright. Lovely atmosphere just like I remembered. Thanks Mockingbird! I’ll be back.

I wanted to try somewhere different and was exploring neighborhood options. My stylist was friendly. Hair cut was ok, and felt a little rushed. My haircut took about 25 minutes - with blow drying included. Cost was $95 without tip. It felt a little pricey for the haircut that I got but it’s all good. Only bummer was that their receptionist was not friendly at all.

I’ve gone twice now and I’ve sent my mom, sister and friend to Melissa because i love my haircut so much. She really just brings life back into you with a haircut and her personality. Melissa really to know you and the style you’re going for. My mom and sister have also left loving their haircut and any hair color they got done. The salon is very clean and pretty as well. Everyone is sweet and professional.

Melissa was incredible. She listened well and gave me exactly what I wanted, and she was so obviously a pro that I didn't even feel nervous while she did it. She's also incredibly warm and fun to be around. It was one of the best mornings I've had in a long time and I don't think I've ever felt so good about the way I look!

Today was my first time coming to the salon and I am so glad that I did!! I scheduled a haircut with Melissa. She was soooo awesome. I feel like she really paid attention to every little detail to make sure I was happy. She continually checked on me and made sure I was comfortable. From start to finish I had a great experience and it’s so nice to have such a great salon close to home. I definitely will be back to see Melissa again for any of my hair needs!!
