This salon is great! Anareli did an incredible Brazilian blowout for me! I especially appreciate her patience when it came to my very curly hair, and she taught me quite a lot about hair care in the process too. All the staff were nice and professional as well. And they even have snacks and coffee for you during your wait or long appointments. Easy 5 stars

DO NOT GO HERE! I went once and I waited at the table they have us sit before we get to the salon chair. I specifically told the stylist for 1-2 inches cut because my hair was already layered with wolf cut. I showed stylist pictures of what I wanted as well. Later on, one of the supervisor/manager/owner told the stylist to cut more of my hair while I WAS SITTING RIGHT THERE. I went to the salon chair and saw my hair get cut few more inches after the 1-2 inch cut. I thought she was just making sure the hair was even out on both sides because it was wolf cut. She decided to listen to the other guy and cut a lot more than I told her to. It was like 10 inches then. I'm too nice to tell them off that I didn't want them to cut anymore but they continued even after I said it multiple times. I didn't want to cause issues with them as well because many people were there and I didn't want all the attention on me. But the stylist and the guy who said my hair was nice and told stylist to cut more is disrespectful for people who grown their hair out longer after all these YEARS, just for you to tell your staff to cut more so you can SELL it or make a wig out of it. That's very disrespectful. Not only did they cut my hair 8 inches longer than I told them they also curled my hair without asking me. I didn't even ask for curling. It wasn't even the nice curls. It made me look like DORA with BIG CURLS on a small face. I literally went home crying after this and it costed $56 for hair cut I wanted for 1-2 inches only. 8 more inches were cut off with curls on my hair I DIDN'T ASK FOR.

I have been coming for over a year now and let me just say I love it here. Laly is the person who does my hair and it always comes out just so beautifully. Rosa is absolutely amazing she does my waxing, and each time it’s less painful. They really take their time with their clients and that to me is worth the experience. I Highly recommend this place

I have been to this salon multiple times for highlights and haircut. I always walk away looking amazing, but the best part in my opinion is how welcoming the salon is. Nana and all of the staff are like a family and they make you feel like you are part of it as soon as you walk through the door! I love coming to get my hair done here and highly recommend this salon!!

I want to start by saying I’ve had excellent color done at this salon. However, I’ve also had: multiple rescheduled appointments with little notice and some that weren’t even able to be rescheduled, just cancelled. I also had my stylist no show an appointment earlier this month where I was told she was on vacation, despite having booked with her before the holidays. I was in the chair for over 2 1/2 hours tonight for what was meant to be a color and trim, but was left to sit so long two of my shirts were ruined because the dye dripped through the cape onto one shirt and all over the collar of another. My stylist was simultaneously working in three clients, so I was left to sit too long and cancelled the trim. I wouldn’t have booked if I knew that would have been the case. Again, I have had phenomenal experiences getting my hair colored— but if I can’t rely on the quality service, I won’t be back.

This salon is so pricey & the owner wants you to buy products after u leave so she can get more money out of u she is rude I would never go back there again when I can go to a regular salon that does amazing work & wont charge me a lot I had went there because my old salon was prebooked but worse experience ever never again

I walked into Modern wave on Friday for a haircut and ended up with a fabulous young lady by the name of Anareli she was great ! I Ioved my cut definitely going back to her she saw the style I wanted and did it. Never going back to my last stylist. Thank you Anareli.

Anareli did a beautiful burgundy balayage on me. She was super professional, a total sweetheart and the whole experience with her was amazing. Thank you for doing a treatment for my badly maintained hair. That was greatly appreciated. Special shout-out to Alex who washed my hair and we had an amazing time bonding at the shampoo station. First time here and they both made me feel like I was a long time client. Unfortunately, I’m doing this review because there was something that bothered me. While Anareli was doing my foils to lighten my hair, she was approached by the owner or manager on duty. Who was completely unprofessional. She was telling my hair stylist about a meeting the following day. How if she didn’t show up to the meeting, not to show up for work at all. Asking her to cancel all her clients. Now, keep in mind I’m sitting there getting my hair done. This is something that should’ve been done away from the clients. Also, unless it’s an emergency, shouldn’t meeting be scheduled in advance to accommodate people’s schedules and appointments? The fact I could hear how aggressive she was being, and how she was telling my hairstylist to cancel clients if she didn’t show up for the meeting is horrible.

Brought my child here for a wash blow dry and haircut. Was denied service because of my child being a mixed. They had make an appointment which is fine but when the day i arrived no one greeted me and when i told them i was there for a service i booked. One lady who was doing another client hair snapped at me and said obviously we are busy right now you are going to have to wait or come back another day. I had no problem waiting and did so for over 45 mins after waiting over a hour and half i asked if anybody was going to be seeing my child soon and the same lady said to be honest with you we always have trouble with “your kind” . I was so shock by that statement that I just grabbed my child and left. This place is horrible and should be out of business. How can you call yourself a hairstylist if you can’t work with all types of hair. My child is curly and might take a while to do but she wanted her hair done for upcoming birthday very disappointed.

I wouldn't reccomend this place. I made an appointment for a hair cut to finally cut the part where thebangs grew out right by my collar bone because I am and was growing out my hair even more so now though I'll explain in a minute. I said I wanted a collar lenght bob all one lenght I explained it how its supposed to be explained. And she still pit my hair in a pony tail very high and cut over the pony tail she did it so fast that I couldnt even say anything. So then she was using a master's chair the whole time and asking me why I'm working at great clips etc etc just being really rude to me. Thenshe starts chopping in some layers and when I say chopping I mean making the longest layer about two inches long..... Then she gave me MORE BANGS when i explained i wanted it up to my old bangs because I just grew them out. Then she said she was high or something. The guy who owns the salon Ted, roller his eyes said nothing to me at all. So I called back and complained and all he says is what do you want me to do about it? Theyre rude, disrespectful, ignorant and i think the girl was discriminating against me because I told her my age and she automatocally assumed i had kids or something and gave me this ugly mom pixie hair cut that I dodnt ask for especially when I said I just wanted to grow my hair out. She took away all my lenght i had about 24 inches of lenght in my hair she cut that right out immediately because she's probably just wanted to be mean to me like everyone else. It's now 5 inches long.... Itwas and still is so choppy and the bangs are so thick I swear this girl cant do hair. It was the worse customer experience I ever had in a salon. Going to this salon actually made me decide not to ever go to another hairdresser because of how rude and disrespectful (yes its disrespectful to cut off someone's hair when they clearly said they are GROWING out their hair evenly...) Learn some respect. Leanna did my hair. I'm pretty sure they kept the hair she wouldn't even give me my ponytail she cut off back. The owner and her should be ashamed of themselves.

Overall great experience, first time in years getting my hair colored cut shampooed and styled. Atmosphere was great, scheduled appointment and was taken care of on time. Very satisfied with my hair color and Service. Odalis worked her magic.

Honestly first time coming here i really did need my hair cut i had to cut a lot Liz let my hair clean i felt different she did a good job was a lot of hair to let go sadly some damage part and wanted it short because it was also falling a lot and having got a hair cut for 3 years so i guess cut it short why not hair does grow eventually just needed to be free i feel way better now can’t wait to go back again next friday for color and my daughter first hair cut with a hairstyles . I recommend coming hair finally have someone who could fix my hair and have me feel way better .

I booked an appointment for a color touch up and toner with Liz. The salon is nice and clean, and Liz is a gem. She is kind and patient, listens to you and does a really good job. The prices are very reasonable compared to the downtown and north side salons. They use Redken products that are much nicer than traditional ones. Highly recommend!

I had such a wonderful experience at modern wave. Liz is such a good hairstylist! She listened to what I wanted as well as educated me on how to keep my hair nice and smooth along with keeping the frizz at a minimal. I highly recommend this place.

I love love this place. After searching for a place and looking at reviews I got referred here and it was amazing. She is honest and takes her time. I will definitely be coming back and referring my friends. It's hard to find a good hair place for me being picky but the search is over .🥰💕

I never write reviews but this needs to be shared. I went in to get my hair dyed for the first time. I left with a style not even close to where I wanted it to be. I showed the reference picture and asked before my hair was even touched “after today I’m going to look like this right?” And she said yea. I asked for a refund and all they could do was a $50 gift card or $50 towards my next session. She wanted me to go back and yes it would be waived, but just to add more foils which is not what I wanted. I wanted my whole base dyed, but she said that would be considered a new service and would have to charge me. The “new service” should have been done the first time. I basically paid $240+ for a hair style, which only looks like faded highlights, I did not ask for and won’t even get a partial refund.

I would definitely recommend this salon to friends & family. The staff are friendly, kind people. The salon is super clean. Masks are required during the pandemic & social distancing is followed. Ted is amazing at what he does & you can tell he really cares about his client’s happiness. I am super happy with my cut & the experience I had at this salon. Highly recommended 10/10!

this is not my account. I am a woman who recently visited this place twice. the first time I went I asked for bangs and did not get it. I thought maybe I forgot to mention it to her, but then the second time I went I asked for bangs and she said "OH you DO want the bangs, ok" and I was excited thinking I was getting them that time. Then it happened again, she did not to do the bangs. At that point i did not question it to not embarrassed her in front of her coworkers. Plus she told me the hair products she sold me were for color treated her which was not true. I did like the hair cut but it was not what I wanted both times.

Great shop! Alex did a great job on my hair, and also explained everything he was doing and gave great styling tips. It felt very safe going there during the pandemic, they have all of the right safeguards in place and take it seriously. A+ experience.
