Do not go to this place, this lady is very rude and doesn't take her job in consideration. People pay to get their hair done and she complain and charge extra for nothing when she gets paid for the labor. Over the last month people wasn't even coming in like that to her. I wonder why... And she complaining about time and detangling hair all the time just for more bucks. When your request was granted you still complain like over and over again for more money for something that wasn't even a big deal to make something out nothing. Please I beg yall don't go there wasting yalls time, energy and money. Go somewhere you'll be appreciated and not annoyed after a long day.

First impressions are critical and lasting. I am very disappointed with my experience at this establishment. I had high expectations because of all the glowing reviews. However, my encounter left a lot to be desired. I want to be as objective as possible here. So, I want to acknowledge the positive - the stylist was on time, space was nicely decorated, snacks available for customers. Now for the unpleasant part of this experience. It felt very rushed. Tamika was not necessarily rude, however her demeanor was off putting, dismissive, and borderline confrontational. I was scheduled for a shampoo, blow dry and, trim. After getting into the chair, I asked if I could add on a service that would have increased the appointment time about 45-60 minutes. She said no because she did not have enough time due to having another appointment after mine. I had no problem at all with this, because I know Fridays are probably a busy day for a stylist. So, to be clear this had no impact on my rating. Here’s where things went left for me. As she was going through my hair to prepare for shampooing, she noticed a couple of tangles. Which I already mentioned - I said I was not able to get them out at the time because I could not see because of where they were located. She then says to me in a very matter- of- fact manner that she charges $35 for detangling, so I would I have to do it myself. And also, because it would run her into the next appointment. She then handed me the comb, so I could do the detangling. No exaggeration, it took me less than 5 minutes to get out 2 tangles at the back of my head. One may ask, “why didn’t I just do this prior to my appointment?” The reason is because I could not see them at home like I could in the salon, where I had the benefit of an up close, full size mirror. I can understand that some clients probably come with their hair so tangled and knotted that it takes half an hour or longer to straighten it out to the point that anything else can be done. However, this was not the case here. My issue with the way the situation was handled is that 1) I am a brand new, first time client. Yes, I know it’s common sense not to come with your hair so knotted that it’s not able to be combed. However, how was I to know that she couldn’t be bothered to spend less than five minutes getting out 2 small tangles?? 2) As far as time is concerned - it’s still time no matter if I take out the tangles or she did it. So, it didn’t make much sense to me when she said it would run her into the next appointment so she could not do it. 3) There was not even an attempt to see if she could easily detangle those 2 pieces. She immediately became dismissive and requested I do it-opposed to explaining her policy/process to me as a new client then saying I’ll try, and if it seems to be something that would take up too much time, there will be an additional charge or you can reschedule. I completely understand time is money. In no way was I expecting a significant amount of time to be spent detangling my hair at no cost. However, I know that spending less than 5 minutes would not have ruined the client flow as it relates to timeliness. There is a way to go about things. In this case, tact, reasoning and understanding would have gone a long way.

Both my daughter and I are natural and it’s so hard to find a stylist that does hair care and braiding for children. Tamika does a great job braiding and making sure the scalp and hair are healthy.

Tamika did a wonderful job with the crochet twists; the entire process only took an hour. I am super tender headed, and she was so gentle. Tamika did such a great job on the cornrows that I almost changed my mind about getting the crochet twists. It's been three days and I have had no pain or headache; the style still looks great and I'm getting a ton of compliments. Tamika was very nice and professional; and I plan to go back. Thank you!!
