I went for men’s haircut and it was great experience. The price is great for the men’s haircut with a nice shampoo wash before haircut. I have done haircut with Nica, Sam and Alex in this year. All haircuts were great and staff are welcoming & nice. I would def recommend this place for men’s haircut and hairstyling.

I have been going to Nica and sam for YEARS. When I went today, they changed locations, changed the name and they are no longer working with the stylists I LOVED. I don’t know what happened there. When I came in they were rude when I enquired about the change, and then when I was trying to talk through my concerns and the process I was met with a massive dose of attitude from the new stylist. When I pushed back, Nica herself started yelling at me in the middle of the salon. I was highly uncomfortable at that point and was told- it’s up to you! It is up to me, I got up left, and booked an appointment at the salon across the street. The good thing about NYC is there are a lot of options. So sad to have lost a salon I LOVED to go to with my whole family.

I decided to go to this salon based on the reviews I had read here. I have long curly hair that is dark medium brown of which the lower ends were a warmer brown from oxidation. I only wanted a single process color to cover some grays at my root area and near my ears, and asked if a toner could be applied to help with the warmer ends. Vandio was my colorist and he did an ok job. The receptionist when I called and Vandio both asked me if I needed a blow out, which I told them I did not want. I just wanted my hair to be dried curly. After the color was complete Vandio asked again if I wanted my hair blown out and I said I would like it dried curly. He said ok, went and got the diffuser and dried my long curly hair for approximately 5 minutes and turned it off and said " Ok, thank you, enjoy your day". My hair was still very wet on the top half. I was in shock when I paid $156 ( not including the tip, which I still gave to both Vandio and the person who washed my hair.) for a single process color and a head full of wet hair. I have been to all types of salons and stylists over the years from inexpensive to expensive and they have all dried my hair completely before I left their chairs. While I will not return to this salon, I will say to others going to make sure to request either Nica or Sam who seem to have the most postive reviews here. Responding to your follow-up, It is always helpful to communicate to new clients what your pricing policies are when making a reservation, especially if you don't have a website for clients to obtain information like costs for highlights, single process, etc... While I do understand that clients are charged for blow outs, it was never communicated to me that diffusing is an additional cost. I never even thought to ask as I've never been charged for having my hair diffused in all my years of getting my hair cut or colored. You mentioned I wasn't charged for diffusing my hair which I am happy about as it was still wet when I left. When trying new place there is always a risk it won't turn out as you hoped. I tried your salon and it wasn't a good fit for me so I won't return.

We love Nica and Sam! We’ve been going here for many years and will continue to come back, even though I no longer live in NYC! They ALWAYS do a fantastic job, on both my hair (long, wavey) and my boys (short, curly).

First time at this hair salon today and I left very pleased. Sam was the stylist that worked on my hair, wash, cut(long layers) and blow. He knew exactly the type of style that would match well with me and he did not disappoint! The inside of the salon was aesthetically pleasing as well. Thank you!!!

Horrible experience. I made an appointment here. I was called 20 minutes before with a vague explanation that I had to go to another salon. I went to the other salon. While washing my hair, so much water was used, I had to go home and change clothes because there was so much water on my shirt. No one apologized or made any attempt to compensate me.
