Sal and his staff members have always been professional, welcoming, kind, sweet, and loving. Rachel is always so sweet too! Love em all! I’d give 10 stars if there was an option. All these angry people leaving nasty comments that are personal attacks to the business makes me wonder if they’re just mad because they can’t actually afford quality service or if they’re just bitter in general. Been seeing Sal for over 5 years and will always praise his skills and passion for hair. Unmatched. Can’t wait to see yal again in a couple weeks and I’m flying in just for Nova and the team. 🌟

I saw Rachel and she proceeded to mess up my hair and then had the balls to tell me MY vibe was off 1/10 experience.

Unprofessional to upset to post. Happened 2 x. With 2 different hair That rent space there. I don’t feel comfortable calling them an artist Believe me post. Coming soon Overpriced!!’

Waited a long time for a cut with Sal. Unfortunately did not meet expectations. He seamed out of focus since he was busy coloring someone else hair, he came back and forth. The cut at the end was nothing special. He made about the appearance of my lips, made me feel uncomfortable.

Absolutely love my experiences at Nova. The salon itself is such a vibe. The staff and stylists are all so welcoming. I’m always kindly taken care of. They love what they do and they’re so good at it. Shoutout to my stylist Beverly! xoxo

Chef kisses! My sister and I went in to get our hair styled and we wanted to get our bangs fixed too and they served!!! They offer a variety of tea and other drinks. Sean was great with skilled hands 👌🏼After a wash he put tonic, mousse, heat protectant and he explains what each is and what it’s for. I recommend people to come here they use good products on your hair and are detailed. Most importantly the vibes are good😙👍🏼💗thanks Sean again you SLAYed

I had such a great experience with Beverly before a major job interview!! Her attention to detail and care for her craft was evident from the very beginning of our appointment. My consultation wasn’t rushed and felt equal parts her taking the time to listen to my hair journey and aspirations and equal parts us discussing how she was going to approach getting me there without sacrificing the integrity of my hair health. I left my appointment feeling like I could walk a red carpet!!! She very much went the extra mile to make sure I felt confident for my job interview while still styling my hair in a way that felt like me. Thank you so much, Bev!!! You are a true talent and light : )

Well just went in for my haircut I had been seeing Rachel Lee for about 1 to 2 years since Chris left Nova went in had coffee her assistant was lovely gave me a wash then she started to blow-dry my hair I told her I do not usually blow-dry my hair I leave wet except the one time I did let Chris blow dry for pics she was lovely and said no problem then Rachel came and said she didn't feel comfortable cutting my hair that she has never cut my hair wet,... weird and horrible experience but good thing is the lovely assistant did tell me where to find Chris he is at The Benjamin Scholastic Salon so super happy about that he is 10 times better than Rachel anyway Sal is a great stylist and owner it's a shame it is going so poorly with the staff

Absolutely love Sal ! I’m letting my hair grow out and he has really helped to keep it healthy. I really felt I got an education from him about hair :) complimentary bangs trims are FABULOUS! Thank you!

Another over-priced, snotty hair salon in the Arts District with bad customer service. I cancelled twice: Once my car wouldn't start. Second, I got a COVID pos test and cancelled to protect the salon staff. I was treated like a jerk, not given an opportunity to reschedule, and told someone would call me back to let me know their policy about COVID and whether I should come in or not. Instead, they sent a receipt for half the price of the haircut I didn't receive and no phone call. Not cool. It's not so much the money, it's the attitude and the disrespect. This would have been my third time visiting this place, but being a repeat customer means nothing to them. Times are tough enough without people treating each-other this way. I've been in the Arts District long enough to know the places that don't treat their customers well don't last long. I can go get an overpriced and mediocre haircut somewhere else. A little sympathy would have gone a long way.

Been coming to this salon for years and I have had wonderful experiences with many stylists. However, I'm concerned by the leadership's exploitation of its employees. I can't in good conscience contribute to a salon like that. I hope all the talent here knows their worth!

Beverly (color artist) is the literal greatest, she's done my color for the past ~1.5 years and I love my hair color every time. I don't live in LA and drive from out of town just for her. Amanda (cut artist) has been cutting my hair and is also so sweet and talented! Honestly, I don't even remember how I found this place lol but I'M SO GLAD I DID because my hair has never looked better

Booked an appointment for a haircut. Seeing as this is a “higher end “ salon and I’ve been waiting to cut my hair since Covid began, I figured I shouldn’t worry too much. Personally for me I don’t usually let other people cut my hair due to the fact that most of the time they don’t listen and I end up leaving unhappy and having shelled out money not ever wanting to return. The staff was super friendly ( although the woman at the front desk was quite arrogant) the chick that cut my hair was an absolute doll. She was talking a lot but not really listening to what I wanted. (Shaggy /wolf cut) Only thing I would say is that they don’t have any creative energy. It’s all pretty blasé and uniform between the group. I left happy (because I’m not one to argue over a simple cut) but was unhappy with the results. It was extremely overpriced even for LA and she literally only thinned my hair out. I wanted a *new* look ( meaning style, part, cut, etc.) and left looking the same literally . If you look through the online photos it’s not a surprise seeing that all of the photos (hair wise) look exactly the same. This is why I don’t trust people with my hair. People in general don’t care as long as they themselves are getting paid.

Rachel opened early for me to be able to see her while I was in LA. The salon was beautiful - slightly industrial, sun drenched, zen. Rachel was amazing - she knew what to do with my hair texture (bone straight) and gave me so much movement, texture, and volume. Have sent 2 friends here already and both came back with rave reviews.

Saw Sal and Camilla in Austin, TX. Best haircut of my life. Camilla did a fantastic job on my color/highlights and I feel like a whole new person. I cannot believe this is MY hair. It looks amazing. Thank you to the entire team for your hard work, kindness and skill.

Wish I had read the negative reviews and saved my time and money because they’re 100% accurate. I made an appointment for color correction. I drove 2 hours and was SO excited to try this specific stylists based on recommendation from the salon and her awesome IG pics. She seems knowledgeable and from what I saw in salon and on her page - she CAN do amazing hair. However, I'm leaving less than 5 stars due to how I was treated. Upon arrival the stylist immediately said she would be making me wait 10-15 min so why don't I "go out and get a coffee." No hello, nice to meet you just.... "Sooo...Ill be making you wait." OK, no big deal, not everyone is congenial I thought. When I returned within 10 min, I ended up waiting even longer than predicted and in fact she was 40 min late for my appointment. I did have somewhere to be after and was totally willing to adjust my plan but when I asked for an update on timing I was met with a sort of annoyance as she perceived I was trying to "rush her". All I wanted was some communication so I can make needed adjustments to my schedule and inform my friends of my change in timing as I was told on the phone to budget 4 hours not 6.5-7 hours for the service. In fact, I just felt I was an imposition to her the entire time I was there especially when she said she could have made more money scheduling someone else since she concluded she wasn't able to bleach my hair. Also, despite being there for 5 hours I was never offered anything, not even a sip of water despite seeing every other client being offered coffee, tea, and water upon arrival. I had to ask her assistant for water. i got ONE small cup of water. I was dying of thirst. She did her best to color correct so really nothing bad to say about her skill level. I did expect a little more based upon her IG but I guess she isn't a magician and didn't have a good foundation to work from so can't fault her on how much I HATE my look however, I do wish there was more care taken for a new client that drove 2 hours and was looking for some TLC. Instead I was treated pretty sloppily - water allowed to drip down my back so I was sitting in soaking wet drape for most of the appointment, no refreshment offered, hair color slapped on and flying all over, and the blow out and styling of my hair was also pretty amateur - left with a lot of frizz (could you afford some product and a decent hair dryer???), then rushed out without any aftercare instructions provided (I was told to message her but I received no reply after two attempts). Overall just not a good experience. I saw others being treated much differently with a lot of attention to ensure a good look so I'm not sure why I was minimized. I am extremely disappointed with this salon. I had an appointment today at 9 am with Cam (Camilla Zinober) to which she cancelled 40 minutes before. She messaged me while I was already on the road so I didn’t get the message until I parked at the salon. I live 20 miles away so I left my house really early to get there on time. She knew this because we had a phone consultation and I told her this. Cam said in her message that she didn’t feel good which I completely understand she had to cancel but 40 minutes before is extremely rude, especially since the salon will charge you 50% of the service cost if the client cancels with less than a 24 hour notice. At least that’s what I was told over the phone when they took my credit card info. The receptionist called me after the message from Cam and was very sweet and tried to find someone else to help me but unfortunately nobody was available. However, she said she’d have the salon manager call me which was nice of her. The manager, Weston, called me about two hours later and I explained what happened. His response was “Well Cam called as soon as she could, she actually called you before the salon opened so that was nice of her.” Like what?! Nice of her? He was defensive throughout the conversation and had zero sympathy for my situation and was talking to me in a very cold manner. I explained I have a baby that I had to get a sitter for and wasted 1 1/2 hrs driving back and forth for nothing. Also, It’s my baby’s birthday tomorrow and was getting my hair done for the special occasion. After his rude response he finally offered to make me another appointment but there was nothing available for today so I am out of options. I never expected this type of customer service from Nova Arts Salon. I guess I dodged a bullet and will take this terrible experience as a blessing in disguise.

Initially I wanted to book my cut & color with different people (higher level artists) but due to my schedule, I went with Camilla for color and Katherine for cut and I'm so glad that I did. For several years I've been only getting my roots retouched to my natural hair color so I was nervous about doing a blonde balayage but Camilla did a fantastic job! Two months later I decided to take advantage of my lighter hair and do something bold so I went pink. The best coloring job I've ever gotten! As for Katherine's haircut, she really took her time cutting away my dead ends and gave me a beautiful haircut with easy-to-maintain fringe. The first pic is when I just got it cut and the second pic is a two-month old hair cut with new color. The haircut is growing out so nicely I even got asked yesterday if I had gotten another haircut. So happy to find my new go-to hair artists! The salon itself is clean and beautiful with eco-friendly products. Parking is a breeze.
