I moved to San Diego last year and was so worried about finding a curly stylist but completely lucked out with Madison! I’ve had three appointments with her so far and she consistently gives great cuts and really listens to what I want. Only great experiences so far!

just moved to SD and I was looking for a curly haircut and Madison did an AMAZING amazing job! Its been about two months since I had my curly cut and I'm still getting compliments, my hair looks great, and I can manage it. For reference I have long hair, 3A/3B. Going back very soon!

Best experience with my amazing stylist, Mandy! She did an incredible job with my blonde highlights and takes so much pride in her work. She went above and beyond to check in with me before my appointment about what I'm looking for and sending me her well-researched product recommendations. Plus she makes the appointment so fun! Will absolutely be going back for all my hair cuts & coloring!

I visited OB Waves Salon today for a bleach root touchup and had an exceptional experience. The service was top-notch, and the hospitality was unparalleled. Erica, the salon owner, truly impressed me with her incredible skill and positive attitude. She went above and beyond to ensure my hair looked perfect and that I felt welcomed throughout my visit. This is by far the best salon I've ever been to. Highly recommend!

My daughter and I just moved here and were looking for a new local salon... after our appointments today with Mandy and Madison I would definitely say we found our new go to! I got a deep conditioning and cut with Madison and am super happy with it, exactly what I wanted. Mandy did such a great job on my daughter's hair! My daughter always complained that her hair was too thick, and she really wanted a wolf cut but was so nervous to trust someone with her hair... she is super happy with how it turned out. Thank you both!

I've been coming to Madison for several years and she is awesome! As a curly girl, it can be VERY hard to find someone who knows how to handle curls and Madison does a great job of not taking off too much and giving my hair shape. Always prompt and a pleasure to work with.

100/10 would recommend. Mandy is the most-skilled, helpful, & most friendly hair stylist I have ever met. I’ve always dreaded getting my hair cut, but after my visit at OB Waves I left with the biggest smile on my face. I live in Washington state & I will be flying down to San Diego to get my hair cut from now on. Forget the 4.8 rating, this salon & it’s employees deserve more than 5 stars!

Erica helped me repair damage done by over-bleaching my hair. She had great ideas for how to keep it looking blonde but require much less damage (and also less money!) to maintain. I basically just told her what I wanted generally, and she went off on her own and just did something awesome! So glad I trusted her to do what she thought best. She even worked around me taking a phone call for work halfway through her session, which turned out to be a long call, meaning she basically had to completely start over afterward because it threw off all her timing. She didn’t even comment on that or seem annoyed, even though I felt bad about it and definitely delayed her for her next client. And I kept expecting the bills to be higher — don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t cheap, but it was certainly worth it and less than I was expecting. Thank you Erica!! **Editing to add: Madison is also awesome! I've been to her a few times for keratin treatments, and just like the hair cuts and color, they've come out way better from her than from the other couple places I've tried. Plus, I brought along my husband this time, and Madison gave him the best haircut he's gotten in a LONG time, maybe EVER. Also, Erica was sick and had to cancel (totally understandable and appreciated!), but she and Madison made sure I was covered to touch up my roots before an important event. Madison squeezed me in last-minute and took great care of me. As usual, my hair looks exactly how I wanted it to look! On top of all that goodness, we somehow only paid $105 for both of us (with a discount for the last-minute change, and not including the tip), which seems crazy low! Even though we've moved away from OB, we will continue driving down all the way from San Marcos to keep going to OB Waves, because it's 100% worth it.

I am new to the area. I had been looking for a stylist for quite some time . We all know how getting a new stylist is scary !!! Mandy was amazing . She listed to my request and went above and beyond . My cut was perfect and n my color was the best hi light ever!!! I will be a loyal customer from now on . Such a cute and inviting salon . I’ve been going to Mandy for quite some time now, and I can honestly say she impresses me inside and out. She always makes sure she’s cutting or styling her clients hair how they like it, in a positive and nonjudgmental way. More so, she’s a genuine honest hard worker stylist who I feel very comfortable with and could talk to for hours. The atmosphere is lovely too. 5/5 stars for this salon :)

OB Waves Salon is HANDS DOWN the best salon in OB. The energy, vibes, and service in this salon are top notch and each and every staff member is positive, genuine, and extremely welcoming. I love how warm the studio is and the aesthetic is absolutely magical! You can not go wrong with any stylist here. I have worked Erica multiple times and will never go to another hair stylist again. She is beyond AMAZING!! Erica has not only broadened my personal hair knowledge, but has also assisted me with finding and building upon the perfect blonde tone for my hair without any breakage. She will listen to you and is a true master at what she does. She spends authentic time, is an absolute professional, and is so clearly passionate about what she does. I could not recommend Erica more. She will give you exactly what you want and she will do it precisely and with lovely conversation. I trust her for life!

I'm just leaving a review because I know how scary it can be to find a good haircutter when you have curly hair—Madison did a great job with mine!! It seemed like she really took the time to understand my hair and what I wanted before diving in, which I really appreciated. Absolutely would recommend her to anyone looking for someone for their curly hair needs (and almost certainly for non-curly hair as well, I just can't speak to that)! Update: still great!

So happy with OB Waves! I am new in town and can be picky about my blonde but Erica did a perfect job for a very reasonable price. My hair looks better than it has in years! She gave me recommendations for my dry scalp (shoutout to SD water) and how to get the most out of my products to maximize my blonde. Erica is super friendly and her salon is cute and relaxing with happy vibes overall. Will definitely be back here!

Love this place! I’ve been for a cut and gloss and each time they killed it. Super professional and all the stylists are really sweet. Definitely recommend this place:)
