Highly recommend this salon and specifically Mel! I just moved back to the East Coast and I'm sad I can't go to this salon anymore. The last four years I've only seen Mel at Paint Salon for my hair. I've been highlighting my hair for 15+ years and can honestly say this was the best salon experience I've had! I get washed out easily because my skin tone is cool and I have low contrast. Mel understood the *subtlety* that I wanted for my hair in adding dimension while incorporating my natural color. Mel really listens to the nuances of client requests and she's great at cuts as well as color. Plus she's lovely to interact with! Also the front desk/scheduling staff is welcoming and helpful.

Jules has been cutting my hair for the past 3 years and always does such a fantastic job! I’ve gone through a few styles in that time and he encourages me to be adventurous, helping me to envision my hair dreams and how to make them a reality. The sweetest, kindest guy in the world. I always look great and feel great after my time with him :) I’ll keep coming back and would recommend him to anyone!

Have you ever had a cut and/or color that gets you compliments every time you go out? I have- Thanks to Aubrie! Aubrie has given me consistently beautiful, vibrant color and hair cuts that are somehow both edgy/modern and classy at the same time for going on 2+ years. Seriously, everytime i go out, strangers will come up to me and compliment my hair. Aubrie's calendar can get booked up quickly, but it's absolutely worth the wait! The staff at Paint Salon is super helpful in trying to fit you in and follow up with you if there are cancelations too. I've always felt welcome and appreciated as a customer here. This place is Ah-mazing and Aubrie is super Ah-mazing! Thanks for making me feel so pretty!

Anyone with curly hair can tell you that finding someone who can cut curly hair well consistently is a challenge, and it can be kind of scary finding a new stylist. That was my situation in 2021 but I knew Erin personally and was sure I was safe in any hands she trusted at her salon! I saw a stylist who no longer works at the salon for the first couple of years and started seeing Mel in 2023 after my first stylist moved. The first stylist helped me achieve the mullet of my dreams and Mel stepped up to help me maintain that for several cuts before I decided to transition to a bit more of a shaggy mullet. Mel has been extremely easy to work with, even when I tell her I want to tweak this or that in search of that perfect balance between shag and mullet that lived in my mind. I can happily say she has helped me achieve every hair goal I have had while being her client. She always checks to make sure I'm satisfied with every cut and goes the extra mile to make any final adjustments I ask for before leaving her chair. Mel is also a beautiful person inside and out and I feel special every time I'm in her chair. It sounds cheesy, but she really puts her heart into the work and does what she can to make sure every client is happy with the end result, and it shows! Everyone at the salon is extremely welcoming and I would recommend this salon and Mel to anyone who wants to feel happy with their hair!

I highly recommend Paint Salon! Whether you are looking for a more traditional or edgy look, the hair dressers at Paint Salon will deliver! All staff are kind and welcoming, and more importantly, the hair dressers are super talented. Manda has been my hair dresser since 2016 and I've been going to Paint Salon to see them since the salon opened. Manda is truly a hair artist and I would recommend them to anyone who wants stunning hair. In the past two years I've had basic long hair cuts (past shoulders even length all around), long hair cuts with layers/face framing, bright reds and pinks on long hair, and more recently as of my last two services pink hair with a shag hair cut. What I appreciate most about my styles from Manda, however, is that they grow out really nicely, including both length/style and color. Overall, I've always left the salon happy and am always in awe of how great everyone's hair looks as they are leaving Paint Salon! Additionally, I like the product selection at the salon as well including Cult & King and Davines. Products work well, smell amazing, and many have refill options to reduce waste. Pictures with pink/red hair are my looks leaving Paint in 2023-2024. The last picture is my hair from today after walking around outside for a few hours (I love how it looks with increased volume from the rain/humidity the).Brown hair picture is from 2022.

I've been to get my hair trimmed and colored several times now, and it's been a lovely, thoroughly professional experience each time. My stylist, Mel, is an absolute pro at what she does, and I would happily recommend her to anyone. She helps me a pick out the cuts and colors that will flatter me best, and takes excellent care of me each visit.

Years later update: I’ve been going to Manda for over 5 years now and every cut is amazing. I have always struggled with finding a style that works for me and Manda is truly a professional at their craft. I hope I never have to get a haircut from another artist because Manda is by far the best hairstylist I have ever encountered. They ROCK. Manda is an absolute GEM of a person and a pleasure to work with. They gave me the shag of my dreams and I couldn’t be more excited to rock my new look! This is my third haircut from Manda and each one has been amazing and lasted me upwards of 10 months while still looking great! Conversation flows easily and they are a genuine and enjoyable person to be around. They showed me different products and techniques to style my hair and helped me feel more equipped to make my hair look awesome (I am DEFINITELY lazy when it comes to my hair and they make it seem so easy!). I can’t recommend Manda enough for rockstar hair and an overall amazing experience. The salon itself is great - clean, organised, and with awesome bathroom wallpaper ;) Plenty of parking in the area (which is a feat for Seattle) and easy to find.

I have been getting my hair done by Manda since late 2020. My hair was blue black and short. I expressed to them some hair goals and that due to my thick, course, wavy hair it can be hard for me to grow it past my shoulders because it would get so heavy. They assured me it was doable with the right techniques. Now, in 2024, my hair is half way down my back, soft, healthy and has a completely new color story! I’ve never loved my hair more!

Manda was my stylist and did a phenomenal job. They educated me through the whole process! They have so much knowledge on products and what works best for your style and texture. This was the best haircut and experience I have ever had in a salon. It’s a safe place to be yourself. Manda is definitely the best out there for all your wild amazing looks! If I could give them 100 stars I would.

This was my first salon experience since moving to Seattle — and I’ll never go anywhere else! I got a whole hair transformation and I love it so much. The cut and color have renewed my confidence, and I’m very grateful to Paige and Macee! I’m a somewhat anxious girly who usually finds salons overwhelming but this was a calming, kind environment. And there’s an adorable shop dog! 10/10

I get my hair done by a very talented young woman, their stylist Macee T. She is courteous, kind, and very attentive. Plus she gives the best head massages when she’s washing your hair! She’s wicked good with a razor a well, the best shag cuts in the city! I also have pretty needy color requests and I feel like she really understands them.

I have been going to Erin for my blonding/color services since the end of 2022, with each time resulting in beautiful hair and a great conversation! Erin always does well to talk through what we have an idea of doing and executes it flawlessly! Her and her salon always make me feel comfortable and I leave refreshed and ready for the week! If you are looking for anywhere to go, I highly recommend Paint Salon for any hair needs! Their staff is so friendly and talented and Capitol Hill is lucky to be their home!

Firstly I am obsessed with my hair. I wanted subtle highlights on my brunette hair & Paige did exactly what I was wanting and I couldn't be more stoked! BUT what I appreciate even more is the vibe at the salon, everyone seems to treat each other well and it is really nice!! Would highly recommend to anyone! 🙂

Love this place. It’s a little pricey and you have to book a few weeks in advance (or I did) but wonderful people, happy with their services, and they are dog friendly which makes for a nice fun atmosphere

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I went in on 03/21/24 to get my hair cut with Erin. I showed her 3 pictures of what I wanted and I told her I wanted my hair to be at my shoulders. I even asked her if she wanted me to keep the pictures up so she would have something to reference and she said, "no I got it, I have a photographic memory. My hair is uneven, sitting just below my chin and I look like a grandma. I'm a 30 year old man. Horrendous experience, if you go here, don't have Erin cut your hair because she won't listen or pay attention to what you want.

I have found my forever hair salon. I've been going to Paige for nearly a year now and my hair has never looked better. Every cut and style is perfection. I love the salon's vibe -- everyone is so kind and funny and just has the best energy. Paige and Erin were kind enough to style my, my brideswomen's, my mom's, and my mother-in-law's hair for my wedding and everyone's hair was stunning. Paige and Erin are so talented. 100% cannot recommend Paint Salon enough.

Just had an awesome time getting a cut from Kara! She really knew how to coax out my vision for my haircut, and had some awesome ideas to improve/update my somewhat neglected pixie. It looks so cute and is perfect for my style. Truly one of the best experiences I've had in a long time. Plus, I had fun, and Kara made me feel special and beautiful.
