I have fallen in love with my natural hair again because of Hunter Mae at this salon! Everyone I have interacted with here has been incredibly kind, friendly, and caring. I value high-quality work education about my wants and how to get them met as curly hair can easily be damaged. Hunter Mae is attentive to my hair needs, what I want done, and has never pressured me to go a different route or pay more money for unnecessary services. The salon is always clean when I’m there and look forward to my appointments here! I will always recommend Hunter Mae and most everyone here at the salon.

I have been a client of Paramount Salon since it opened and I can confidently say it’s the best salon in Portland. From the moment I walk in I am greeted with warmth and professionalism. The atmosphere is warm and modern and immediately puts you at ease. All of the stylists are excellent. My stylist is Samantha. She is the owner and she has been my stylist for years. She takes the time to listen to what I want and then provides insightful suggestions based on my hair type and lifestyle ( I work in a hospital and live in scrubs). The products are high quality ( Kerastase and Oribe) and leave my hair healthy and beautiful. Samantha is the best at haircuts, coloring and styling. Very few stylists are good at all three of these. I highly recommend Samantha and Paramount Salon to anyone who is looking for an exceptional experience and wants to look their very best.

Wonderful experience with very kind people. My stylist Daelyn is very sweet and a master of long cuts. It's one of my favorite cuts of all time and I can't wait to come back for a professional experience again 10/10

Hunter Mae is a hair wizard! She’s so talented and so good at understanding exactly what my hair goals are! I love that she will also suggest what she thinks will look best with my skin tone and hair. Not only is she so knowledgeable but she’s just a wonderful human altogether and I always look forward to spending time with her! I’ve had my hair done by a handful of hair stylists and Hunter Mae is hands down the best in Oregon! I will never go to anyone else ever again! She’s my gal! You will not be disappointed with her. I also love how before she starts she goes over pricing, so you know exactly how much it will cost before you get started, no surprise fees at the end of your appointment. Extremely professional!

Hunter Mae is incredibly attentative and empathic to the needs of her clients. I struggled as a male to find a stylist that would take my needs seriously due to typical stereotypes in my humble opinion. However, Hunter Mae really stopped and listened as I'm trying to go from shaven to full hair. She was very pleasant and giving guidance throughout the process, but most importantly the results is amazing!

I stumbled across this salon through instagram. I immediately was draw to Hunter Mae! I loved her lived in, natural approach. When I booked an appointment she was not only thorough and thoughtful but she educated me on the process and walked me through the steps. I have a lot of hair and I am usually in the chair for upwards of 5 hours. Hunter knocked it out of the park in under 3! She is a light to be around and I am so thrilled I've finally found someone who can make my hair vision a reality. She's likeeeee really good at blondes (and all other colors) :)

It’s a nice salon and has affordable pricing but I got one of THE WORST haircut I’ve ever received here. Julie cut my hair and even though she was very nice, she didn’t follow anything I showed her and left me with a wonky mullet that I can’t do anything with. I also wear my mask religiously everywhere and was in great health prior to the cut and during, but decided to make an exception and not wear one for this haircut, which I deeply regretted. While having her cut my hair and breathe very close to my face for a couple hours (yep I could smell her breath throughout the whole cut), I thought everything would be fine…Lo and behold, I tested positive for covid a day later and was upset that I was given a bad haircut and now covid. Won’t be coming back here again as their clientele seem to be more mature women which explains why my request for more current hair trends was not met. If you go here, WEAR A MASK b/c the staff did not care to thoroughly monitor themselves to avoid getting customers sick. ———— In response to MEGAN, For the record, I test myself WEEKLY as a safeguard. I was in perfect health prior to this appointment and on the day of, as originally stated. After attending my appointment at your salon, and noticing Julie sniffling through my entire haircut, I started to feel unwell b/c I chose to be maskless for my appointment as stated was allowed by your salon. Within an hour of me getting home, I started to feel unwell. As I also stated, I wear my mask anywhere and everywhere religiously but chose to make an exception for my hair appointment, which was the only time I have gone unmasked in any business location. I strongly feel that I contacted covid at your salon regardless of what minor precautions you all take - which, by what I witnessed, was only quickly wiping down chairs. This is not sufficient precaution for caring for your customers. Air ventilation is also ideal. I wish you the best but the gaslighting you’re apparently trying to do by your response is not appreciated or taken. It is what it is and you should learn what taking accountability is. I wish you well and you’re sure as heck right, that I won’t ever go back to your salon due to your lack of care for my experience or the safety of customers’ health. Learn to listen to customers instead of trying to be combative. That’s what professionalism is.

Hunter Mae is amazing!! I came to her with very damaged hair from my quarantine dyeing experiments and she took the time to explain to me how we can get my hair back to health and make me feeling confident about it again. She explains the whys and what’s possible while making sure that my hair is protected. I’ve recommended her and this salon to all my friends and family.

I have been seeing Dakota for years. She is truly a great stylist. Every time I want to try something new with my hair she meets and exceeds all of my expectations. She has taken me from bleached blonde with red hair to black. She makes sure to always treat my curls with respect so they bounce back after each appointment and takes the time to make me camera ready. She is truly all about her clients. She works hard to research, practice and execute each style so well. She is extremely inviting making each guest feel welcomed and loved, she is my hype girl. I can not say enough about how amazing Dakota is. You would be doing yourself a great service by seeing her for all of your hair dreams from something as simple as a trim to something major like bleaching out your dark hair.

I've got my hair done by Dakota a few times now and she never disappoints! I always leave feeling on top of the world. I came to her wanting to add blonde into my hair for the first time ever and she was enthusiastic to help. Over the last three visits, I can confidently say I will never go to anyone else. Of course she is incredibly talented, but she also dedicates time and effort to build a relationship with her clients. My hair was so grown out, brassy, dull, and had awful old misplaced highlights. Dakota gave me the most beautiful, full baby lights and I can honestly say this is the best my hair has ever looked. It is now bright, natural, and dimensional. The cut she gave me was exactly what I wanted, and I don’t think I even did a good job explaining to her what I was looking for. Dakota saved my hair, and I will never go to anyone else as long as I live here! She’s also super kind and sweet! Paramount salon itself is clean, gorgeous, and so welcoming. My experience was relaxing and restorative. They take COVID precautions extremely seriously, and I was never once worried about safety.

Paramount is the best! Dakota has been doing my hair for a year now and she always gives me exactly what I’m wanting. I’m on a blonde journey and she is the only person I trust with my hair now. She’s so knowledgeable and talented. All the girls here are so sweet and kind to me. I’m always personally greeted by everyone in the salon, it’s a great environment to be in.

So, I decided to defect from my hairstylist of many years. It was a big step, but I was ready for a change, and Paramount Salon is very close to my home. I pass it all the time, so I called and made an appointment with the lovely and gracious Veronica, and had a terrific experience! When I arrived I was greeted warmly and given a fresh face mask so as not to soil my own mask. Everyone was super friendly and Veronica was ready to start my haircut right away. She showed me to a changing room so I could change into comfy wrap robe to protect my clothing, then I washed my hands per regulations, and went out to Veronica's chair to discuss what I wanted to do with my hair. Veronica listened carefully as I told her my hair history and the direction I wanted to go. I never felt rushed, pushed into a different style or talked out of what I wanted. My hair is pretty curly, and due to some over bleaching, a tad damaged, so I was ready to cut it all off and go with an easy, chic pixie. It's a style I've had many times in the past, and I explained to Veronica that I'm pretty adventurous with my hair, and that sometimes I love a big change, so she was ready to jump in with the cut. She took me to the washing station and gave me a relaxing shampoo, then we chatted amicably while she saw to shoring off my distressed locks. Veronica was delightful to talk with and I felt comfortable the whole visit. And my cut is perfect! It's honestly the first pixie cut that was done exactly to my specifications, but, also with a wonderful new attention my nair and the way it curls and grows. I love it! I don't have to flat iron or dry this style at all; just wash, rub in a little pomade and go! If you're looking for a new salon or stylist, give these guys a try. The environment and the people are great, and Veronica is amazing. I'm so grateful to have finally found such a kind and gifted new hair stylist!

I had a balayage done by Hunter Mae and I'm so happy with how it turned out! I'd never heard of Paramount Salon, but Hunter was highly recommended by a friend. The salon itself is lovely and modern. After asking me some questions about how I wanted my hair to look, we started the process. The end result is amazing! She achieved exactly the look I wanted - the color is bright but expertly blended and balanced with my natural color. I booked a follow-up appointment before leaving. Highly recommend!
