I had the pleasure of dining at Patterson tonight to celebrate mine and my fiancés engagement! We were so impressed by the detail and attention of service provided as well as our excellent food!! Highly recommend the filet, the seared tuna, and the green apple and cranberry crème brûlée! Special thank you to chef Adam and staff for such a special evening!!! Highly recommend dining here!!

Asked waitress about wines I have not tried, I've probably had 30 percent of their list. She replied with "I sell some of those " then kinda got unchatty, defensive. Sorry you've been in a place for 10yrs and can't sell 400$ bottles of wine. Wine was 5x price here so expected a little better. Apps, scallops over Fennel damn good. Samosas, the one weird anomaly on the menu figured would b a must try....wrappers, shape, yogurt sauce great. Filling, typical taters n Peas but mouth blowing curry spice, still burping it up. I told waitress what I thought immediately dropped our appetizer dishes on floor and went to kitchen. Came back to report there was no curry in the dish but rattled off a list of powdered ingredients used to make curry.... . .. ..I don't look like much but I know shit, like grapes and how to cook. Duck was great needed a slaw or acid to cut through, fillet was good. Taters and honey glazed carrots very nice. Very mixed. Saw some great and some not, probably more not for me

Beautiful atmosphere but very disappointing food. Limited menu and expensive. The pork chop was below average. My husband enjoyed his duck. The oysters were OK. The cocktails were OK. The desserts were probably the best part. Not worth the nearly 300 price tag. I would go somewhere else will better quality food and cocktails.

Edit - the menu has changed and not for the better. Our experience was not great on our recent December 2024 visit and i no longer recommend My husband and I went to Pattersons for my birthday celebration. The crispy pork belly for appetizer was phenomenal! The main courses took a very long time to come out (probably 45+ minutes). We didn’t mind this too much as we were conversing. It was very obvious they were short staffed. Anyways our dishes came out (duck cavatelli & tuna) and both were very delicious. We ate every bite! We then ordered dessert — the banana pudding (amazing!!) and peanut butter torte (meh). My husband also ordered an espresso which he liked. We spent 2 hours here so it had a bit more European vibe which we really liked. Overall we had a nice evening at Pattersons. I think adding a daily or weekly chefs special and acknowledging special celebrations (birthdays, anniversaries, etc) would make this place more memorable considering the location is very secluded unless you’re staying at the hotel (which we were not). We might try brunch there this summer as it had a very nice patio overlooking a pond.

What a delightful evening! We started our stay in Greenville with a celebratory dinner (my sister-in-law’s birthday) at The Patterson. It was a perfect evening; we wanted for nothing! Kennedy was an excellent and delightful server. The restaurant was even able to accomodate my 96 year old mother-in-law by finding a pillow to add to her comfort. We greatly enjoyed the samosas as a starter. Between us we had the tuna, duck duo, lamb chops, and beef filet. All were excellently prepared. The accompanying carrots (with the appetizer Baba Ghanoush) and eggplant (with the lamb) deserve a special callout as did our wine (a Terrazas Malbec from Argentina.) We ended the evening by sharing an apple cream brûlée and a chocolate cake (both sinfully delicious) accompanied by a glass of bubbly. Will definitely return the next time we are in town!!!

What a treat! When we arrived, staff opened the door for us, took our coats, and quickly brought us to our seats. The environment was very quiet and mellow. Our highlights: - The bread was devine! The whipped butter was a surprising showstopper. Not usual for the complimentary bread to be so good! - The duck was well cooked with a nice crust, great fat rendering and lovely flavor! - Our recommended wine pairing was very nice for our meal. - We were surprised with a beautiful flourless chocolate cake for our anniversary. This was so sweet and also delicious! Downside: - The table was a bit small and we felt a bit cramped at times where we were seated. Overall: This was a great experience and we will be returning! Multiple servers made sure we always had wine and water and whatever else we needed even before we asked. The food was all excellent or even perfect!

3 hour ordeal. Waited 20 minutes after being seated for service to acknowledge our table of 2 which was unfortunately seated next to a drunk party of 12. Another 45 minutes between soups and main course then an additional 30 minutes for the bill. During this time we could barely have a conversation as the noise level from the party got progressively louder; one woman in particular liked to "whoop" every 5 minutes or so. The restaurant is clearly not prepared to accommodate busy Friday nights.

My husband and I went for a date night and absolutely loved our service, food, and the atmosphere! It was a beautiful, moody, romantic dinner spot that could also be a family dinner spot as well! It was a formal dining experience with awesome cocktails and classy dishes. 10/10 recommend. Will be coming back here. Thanks!

Strengths: Great atmosphere and ambiance, very good service especially from the bar. The food is also very good and well prepared. Extensive wine by the bottle selection. Drawbacks: I had to deduct a star as the menu is very limited and pricey for portion size. A snack at home may be needed before dinner otherwise you may not be satisfied.

We typically enjoy dining at places like Halls Statehouse but decided to try something new for our recent date night. Unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations, especially given the $100+ per person price point. We had a reservation for two and were seated at what appeared to be a bar waiting table—a small, oval-shaped high-top (roughly 30x15 inches) with seating on one side facing the bar. While the online reservation did indicate it was a high-top table due to limited availability, we’ve seen better high-top options at this restaurant. This table arrangement was far from ideal for a date night and detracted significantly from the overall experience. The staff was great, which is why this review gets three stars, but whoever thought it was appropriate to seat guests at that table for a premium-priced meal needs to reconsider. On a positive note, the restaurant itself is beautiful, the drinks were excellent, and I appreciated their attentiveness regarding food allergies. However, I wouldn’t recommend this place for someone with tree nut allergies, as it doesn’t feel entirely safe. The food was hit or miss for us. I enjoyed my meal, but my husband, who knows his steaks, was unimpressed. For the price, the steak he ordered didn’t meet expectations—it tasted like previously frozen meat, which is unacceptable at this price point. In summary, this restaurant has its merits (ambiance, drinks, attentive staff), but the value for the price isn’t there for us. If we return, it’ll likely be just for drinks rather than a full meal.

I live close to this restaurant and have for my entire life. The pond it overlooks was one I may or may have not been run off for fishing when I was young. The food was way better than any place we have been to “downtown” in over a year. Definitely happy we only have to drive 2 miles for a great date night than 15.

My husband and I came here for our anniversary (also stayed at Hartness Hotel,) and WOW is all I can say. I can't believe we have this nice of a restaurant in a small town in SC. It feels very metro. Food was great, so was service. Comped champagne for our anniversary, a nice hospitality touch. Highly recommend for a nice dinner or celebration alike!

Atmosphere was nice. Our table neighbors were excellent, who we were within arms reach while eating. The scallops, Caesar salad, and trout were overall good. The steak in the surf and turf had little to no seasoning. The ultimate downfall was the time in between food AND drinks. We ran out of water and drinks multiple times. Our waitress asked if we wanted dessert before we received our entree, mainly because of how long it took between courses. Good place to go if you have 3-4hours to kill. All the thrills for just under $300 for two!

A fantastic experience from start to finish! Simply put, the best dining experience I've had in Greenville, SC. The staff was friendly, warm and welcoming. Our waiter, Jesus, was great at making recommendations and knew the best dishes and drinks, and was extremely accommodating with my food allergies. My wife and I enjoyed the relaxing environment and beautiful decor, and it was obvious how much effort and thought has been put in to perfecting the aesthetics. I will be booking reservations again, a great spot to meet important clients or date night!

Such a charming place. The captains lounge was so cozy and comfortable. The bartender was a master, and could make any drink requested. Then we headed over to Pattersons for dinner. We had the duck, and it was absolutely delicious. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Such a great experience, and definitely look forward to the next one.

The atmosphere was great. Beautiful grounds surrounding the restaurant, but food was disappointing. Also prices for many items were extremely high. Steaks were very high priced but good, tuna was average to good, duck was chewy, vegetable pasta was average, chicken was also average. The menu definitely needs to be expanded. No fish other than trout which was disappointing. If you want a good steak I would head to Halls Chophouse or Ruth Chris.

First class venue. Top notch service, high quality food, excellent wine selection served in an architectural gem. Easy access, ample parking, beautiful setting near ponds, the historic former residence and the new hotel addition. Expensive. You get what you pay for

It was amazing to have a great restaurant on site with the Hotel Hartness. Got dinner here our last night of our stay, the food, the service, and the atmosphere were great! My highlights were the scallops with caviar on top, my filet, and the vanilla bean cheesecake. Had a couple cocktails they were good but could be improved. Must try if you are staying at the hotel.

The place looks amazing. Great view. Lovely decor. Our server was friendly but drinks and food took a long time to come out. We waited 30 min for drinks. Our entrees came out an hour after our salads. This was a Tuesday with less than half of the restaurant full. The drinks were delicious. The food was just fine.

The service was good, waitress was attentive and friendly. The scallops were amazing and the ribeye and braised ribs were melt in your mouth good. The green beans tasted like lighter fluid, really terrible. The dessert we had was also really chalky and flavorless. Drinks and atmosphere were good though!

We dined here for a friend’s 50th birthday and were blown away by the delicious food and the next level service!! The staff went out of their way to make it a fabulous celebration. Five stars! Will definitely return to the Hartness hotel and dine at Patterson again.
