Ruth did an excellent job on my hair. She was patient and kind. But the star of the school is the very kind young man who answers the phone, unfortunately I didn't get his name. But every time I call, he is patient and kind and greet me when I arrive with such enthusiasm and welcoming spirit.

On my 3rd visit, the prior two visits were great but that student had graduated and I was set up with a new student who was half way through her training, she did a good job in coloring, and of course, the instructor was crucial in helping her match colors, but the hair cut, in particular, my bangs are horrible. I told her from the beginning how anal I was about my bangs and that I did not want to wear them above my eyebrows, she tried to cut them before telling her instructor “I just can't do bangs”!!! It was too late by then, the instructor tried to clean up her work but I ended up with bangs above my eyebrows like one of the guys in Larry, Curley, and Moe! I cried when I came home.

I went to get partial highlights. I explained to the technician what I wanted. When the instructor stopped by to confirm what was going on she explained in great detail to the technician how to section off the Hair. She also explained to her that a partial highlight had no more than 20 foils. I was in the chair for right at four hours. With a full head of highlights, I counted 39. The technician was very nice. But did not seem able to comprehend what the teacher was instructing her to do. I have been to the Academy in the past and had a great experience this time not so much.

Terrible school definitely don’t recommend only a couple of the staff was friendly. You basically teach yourself how to do everything teachers are never there to help. Please save your money and definitely do not go here.

I have been going to Paul Mitchell Haai School for about 17 years. This was my first time at the Paul Mitchell in Raleigh. Everyone was so welcoming. Ezequiel was my stylist. He did an excellent job. I got a shampoo and blow dry. And I am back in the area. I will definitely be returning.

I went to Paul Mitchell today for a haircut and was never treated so well at a hair salon. My stylist, Ella, took the time to find out exactly what I wanted and took great care of me. Her instructor, Tammy, was friendly and helpful. I walked out with a great haircut and will be coming back!

I am a repeat customer and made an appointment for a deep conditioner and 2 strand twists. I specifically asked for a stylist who knows how to do 2 strand twists on natural hair. The stylist was switched to someone who did not know how to do 2 strand twists. She twirled my hair around her finger and I was charged for a natural hair style that didn’t last 24 hours!

I was disappointed to wait 50 minutes before my scheduled service began. My 6:45 p.m. appointment completed at 10 p.m. with me leaving with a wet head.

Kenda completely butchered a simple haircut for me. She needs to go back to 101 classes. I had to go to another salon and pay for another cut to not look like a bowl cut 12 year old. If you go here, make sure you don’t get Kenda.

They told me they do walk inside and I can come in. I get there 30 min later and then she days all the students are leaving we have more come in at 530. Why tf you say I can come now if they gonna be leaving and I have to wait for about 2 hours to get a wash and blow out. Never coming here again

I have been to the school twice and I have been very happy with the results. The first time I went to get my roots retouched from black to blonde and they did an excellent job. The second time I went from blonde to red. The color didn’t come out right the first time so they fixed it and it was great. I will definitely be going back. The prices are half or less of what I would pay at a professional salon but the results are the same or even better. The students have been attentive to what I want and the instructors are there every step of the way helping or correcting. The only thing is if you have something complicated, it might take more than 2 hours, which has been my experience.

I would like to extend a big thank you to the entire staff/team. Kudos on professionalism on Thursday evening 11/7/24. Jay was my stylists, he went above and beyond to complete the task and did a good job doing my hair. Ms Tammy supported Jay and all the other students. She worked the entire floor assisting everyone, ensuring customer likings were met. She’s amazing.

Latika was wonderful and exceeded my expectations. Very friendly and great customer service from here. It’s just that I had an appointment and waited 40 mins extra just sitting nobody told me anything until I had went up to the desk even then they were clueless, because whoever I booked with was not there. I ended up being 30 mins late to my job because of this. I came 4 hours before I had anywhere to be at. The appointment booking was from 11:15-1:30 so me leaving 3pm is just foul. The person who has to sign off on the treatment took forever to guide me to the payment desk, knowing I had somewhere to be. Also the price they wrote and told me that I agreed to prior was completely changed they upped the price and then made it seem like they gave me a discount when the original price from before was still cheaper. I will not be coming here again and won’t advise my family to come anymore.

This was my first time coming to Paul Mitchell and I had an amazing experience. I believe my stylist was Kiya, who was nothing short of fantastic. With the amount of hair I walked in with and the amount we took off she was patient. The instructor was very patient as well and helped walked through steps to help with not only my satisfaction but her skillset. I will be coming back.

The picture does not do it justice they were working with a year grow up to blend some blonde highlights through, I am aware I have a lot of hair and Alisa and I think her name was Armani (I could be wrong because I never fully caught the young lady that assisted Alisa's name) Alisha started with some assistance from an instructor and she was great help as far as toner and the process, did not catch her name but she had blue and purple colors in her hair and was very pleasant while there. These three ladies are the only reason this visit was remotely pleasant. As my hair turned out wonderful but the overall experience with a majority of the leadership and admin staff was not. Flash forward to walking in it took a minute to get greeted, which honestly is fine, but the greeting was a fast print, sign, and date here and go sit there. Not the warmest of invites or what you would expect from a salon of any kind and I understand it is a school but you are training the next generation to go out in the real service world not just to perform to perfection in the services but it would be expected to have some customer service skills. I was greeted very warmly by Alisha once she was ready for me, we sat down and discussed my hair and off she went to figure out all the mixing required to blend blonde perfection in my dirty blonde hair. The actual color process was perfection, Alisha, her helper, and the instructor who's name I cannot remember were great and very warm and pleasant. Now lets get to the bottom line of HOW this turned bad. They were on the last leg of color and mind you the salon hours are until 10pm it was about 8:15 pm when they were on the front of my hair so hair was covering my face but Maya from the front thought this was the best time to come ask for payment. I am not kidding my hair is in my face and she asked me to take care of my bill RIGHT then. What the actual hell is going on, my mood was fine until this moment, we are NOT done with my hair, I cannot even see really. But this was a great time for her because she wanted to "close the register" which she ended up not doing that moment because there was another lady she had to take payment from but hey she did not ask her while she was getting washed out or blow dried. While I have never been in cosmetology and some nail places ask for payment up front so you cannot walk out that would have been understandable but in the middle of service at a very inconvenient moment was not the best way to go about it, it would be like asking someone to pay for a meal at a restaurant as they are putting their fork in their mouth. So after that, I feel as though multiple instructors one in a gray and black checker shirt came over to "see where we are at" and if we will be done on time, I would like to express this is 2 hours into a "4 hour" appointment as booked online and instructors are rushing the girls and I feel like at this point me paying to get a service done is just a bother to their lives because I get it we would all rather be home than at work. I have never felt more unwelcome and like my presence was a bother. I am uncertain that I will ever go back to this place because of these staff members. My hair is thick and down to my butt and I got ALL OVER highlights even professionals that are on their own it takes more than 4 hours sometimes and here we are being rushed, so many things could go wrong by rushing. So I will not recommend this place for any appointment at or past 6 pm. Alisha and the other girl and her first instructor were great, the rest of the experience was very unwelcoming.
