I get massages 2-3 times a month. I have a professional background in chiropractic and physical therapy. I've had Thai, Russian, Chinese and Swedish massage in the past. No clue what that was. It was so strange and may have made somebody less experienced or secure uncomfortable. I got some relief but it was not worth the money.

I visited this spa today for a couple’s massage, and it was a terrible experience. Despite paying around $400, the quality of service was extremely disappointing. The sheets were not clean, and the headrest smelled awful. To make matters worse, they reused the same headrest cover and placed it on my face, which was very unhygienic. The massage therapist’s hands were rough, making the experience far from relaxing. The oil they used had an unpleasant smell, and I have no idea what kind of oil it was. The overall ambiance of the spa was unappealing, and the service did not justify the high price they charged. I expected a luxurious and soothing experience, but instead, it was the complete opposite. I will never visit this place again, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for quality or value for money.

My cousin and I were traveling from NC and landed on this place and location for a relaxing massage. It was just that! The receptionist Cheryl was absolutely amazing and professional. She called me a week prior to the reservation and even offered a free bday service. She greeted us with a smile and made sure we felt comfortable prior to the service. My therapist Sam talked me through each step, listened to my needs and even gave after care instructions. Cherry on top is the spiced apple cider in the waiting area. Book it!

Had an amazing experience at Pause. Jeff was incredible - I had a lot of knots in my upper back, and he spent so much time working on that. Also, I’ve never gotten an IT band message, and Jeff was great. Highly recommend!

Had deep tissue massage with Jeff. Was kind of weird because deep tissue massages I get are usually focused on slower, deeper pressure with an emphasis on knots. This massage was mostly a lot of quick movements that I didn’t feel were focused on finding and isolating knots. It was weird that there wasn’t any attention on my quads, only hamstrings too. Nice receptionist and location, but weird deep tissue massage for the price.

I had an excellent deep tissue massage with Jeffery. I was in Chicago for a conference and struggling with neck, back, and shoulder pain from traveling - he worked out my knots with the perfect amount of pressure. Highly recommend him!

My birthday was yesterday and by it being on a Tuesday, I wanted to just relax. I received a gift card to PAUSE and decided to book a last minute massage. Luckily for me there was an opening for me to get a massage after (work) 5p.m. I booked the 7pm Fall Ritual special they are running. When making the appointment they asked if I preferred a male or female masseuse. Although I had never had a “professional” massage by a man, I didn’t have a preference. It was after 7pm so there was free street parking. There is plenty of metered parking on the next block if all of the free ones are taken. The receptionists were very kind, the spiced cider was extremely tasty, and check in was seamless. The bathrooms are in an unfinished hallway, but clean. I received the most amazing massage by Jeff! I came in with a knot in my back, neck, and a headache. I left not wanting the massage to end! He was very professional and superb customer service. The massage had room for refinement, but most certainly was worth every penny! I will be back! Book Jeff!

The place smelt nice and the customer service was great. I got Nija as my masseuse(Cupping Massage Therapy). She was amazing with her hands and made sure I felt comfortable and if there was too much pressure. I would definitely recommend her. I haven’t gotten a massage in a LONG time and I did feel sore days later but I felt so free and relaxed afterwards. Thank you Nija!

Visiting Chicago (from Europe) and found Pause Massage. Went to East Ontario St and had a deep tissue massage. I was treated by Marija and it exceeded my expectations completely. It was the best massage! Marija is very experienced and found all my troubled areas by herself. It was an absolute pleasure and I would come back anytime if I had the chance. We are from Texas and spontaneously moved decided to get a massage. We did a couples massage and this was a great choice. We thoroughly enjoyed the 80 min massage. If we are ever back in Chicago we will definitely make a it a place to visit.

Have had a few deep tissue massages at Pause. Everyone is always friendly and helpful. Jeff does a fantastic job with my neck/ shoulder tension. Highly recommend Pause for sure !

Just drove all the way down from Hoffman estates for an appointment. I had filled out the form two weeks prior mentioning that I’m pregnant. Confirmed the appointment and when my husband and I get here they say that can’t perform the services because they do not have the right people to do a pregnancy massage. Even though I mentioned it in the online form 2 weeks ago. Which the lady at the desk claimed I didn’t fill that out but then after 2 minutes she saw that I marked I was pregnant. Also on their website a prenatal message is done after the first trimester. And i am still in my first trimester. I’m sorry you guys don’t read the online forms you send to your clients prior to their appointments. Obviously poor communication on your staffs part. Now we wasted an entire afternoon driving down to the city to just turn back around. Extremely disappointed.

So excited to have finally been able to have a massage at Pause (I live on the Wisconsin border.) Janelle was wonderful!! Even better than I was already expecting! My neck & shoulders were very tight & felt amazing after! First massage where I've left feeling such an overall sense of well-being. The facility is beautiful, feels very peaceful, & is in a great location.

I recently moved and did not provide 30 days notice to cancel my membership. I'm not able to come in and use my last credit, so I was charged $50 to cancel my membership. I didn't even give my internet provider 30 days notice before I moved! Who would think to contact a massage parlor to give 30 days notice to cancel a membershi? Terrible customer experience.

Jeffery was great! I did a deep tissue massage and finally felt like someone listened to me. He spent the perfect amount of time on my focus areas. This is the first time I’ve felt better after a massage. Jeffery did 100% what I needed and hoped for. Will definitely be coming back

I had Jeffery and chose a deep tissue. Boy did it do wonders. This was my first massage therapy session and I was very pleased. He did an awesome job, pointed out what the problem areas were and worked what really needed it. Professional, kind, promoted a relaxing atmosphere, and made sure I was comfortable. I’m sad I don’t live in the area, but the few times I do visit I’m looking forward to scheduling another appointment. Front desk staff was also very kind.

My massage with Janelle was absolutely fabulous. By far one of the best massages I have had. I came last Sunday with my mom as a quick weekend trip. Janelle is so, so knowledgeable about the human body. She was able to simply look at my body and tell mu problem areas with my back. Her pressure and technique was amazing. She was able to target all my sore and tight muscles and help me with my shoulder pain. She even gave great suggests for stretching at home to keep my issues from getting worse. I don't live in Chicago, but I am definitely making a plan to come back and see Janelle. I felt so relaxed and light after my massage thank you! Oh and I did ask my mom and she really enjoyed her massage as well.

Hands down one of the best massages I have received! I have some pretty strong ADHD and I never am able to fall asleep but Nija was amazing and I actually relaxed from the moment she started! Draping technique could have been better but no big deal! I will be back! (:

Excellent service at the Ontario location! It was my first massage and I chose the signature option. I had Jeff and he was very nice and professional. The room was nice, clean, and had a nice lemon scent. Will be going back.

I visited from out of town and chose Pause bc the google reviews and proximity to my stay. I had a 80 minute massage with a scalp treatment. Everything was lovely from the receptionist, atmosphere, and of course, the massage therapist- Helen! It was fabulous. I would recommend.

Pause has amazing therapists and worth the money. I would give it a 5 but I go to the Streeterville location, which could improve with their customer service. The River North location has amazing customer service. Had an issue with the manager about my membership who was so rude and told me I obviously don't know how t o read a contract basically told me to quit or not come in anymore. She was the manager. I reminded her I was the customer with $500 worth of credits. I would love the owner to contact me. . .

The massage was really great--the therapist was strong and skilled. I would've given 5 stars except for the fact that there was a booking snafu. I'm from out of town and not very familiar with the area. The confirmation email did not include a street address so I Googled Pause and was directed to its other location in River North. I had to rush over in a car service to the Streeterville location and lost 20 minutes of massage time because of it. Make sure you go to the rightl location!
