Our salon + spa is next to White Castle and Vamp Official between W 2nd Ave and W Starr Ave. There’s a parking garage right around back and street parking is available that you can pay for using the ParkColumbus app. Our Short North salon + spa offers hair, skin, nail, massage + bridal services. I had an amazing experience at PENZONE with Aldina. She really took her time listening to what I was looking for and did an amazing job with the haircut itself. It was a super relaxing experience and I was extremely happy with the results. Already looking forward to the next one!

i had a haircut done by raven. her attitude from the very beginning was poor and slightly aggressive. im not sure why. but she aggressively clipped up my hair, didn't bother to let me explain my hair condition, completely bulldozed over what i wanted and just started chopping at my hair. when she asked me where i got my haircut last because it was uneven; i told her it was penzone short north. and if she wouldn't have been so dismissive i would have been able to explain to her that my hair was cut the way it was bc i was growing out a bad bleach job and the last assosicate worked with what i wanted and was able to help me on my journey. if the salon wasnt really busy then i would have gotten up after she aggressively clipped up my hair. but i didnt want to cause a scene or embarrass her so i just let her. i wanted only an inch cut off. she cut of AT LEAST three inches that i worked really hard to grow out. and now days later i am severely depressed because of how ugly i feel with this haircut. and of course she was plesant at the very end right before i had to pay. she watched me while i interacted with the front desk and even watched me fill out a gratuity enevelope. i have never had such an awful experience and have had better at great clips. to say i am upset is an understatement. i am so dissapointed. if raven does not like the $30 haircut deal then maybe she shouldn't offer it. that's the only reason i can think of to have this absurd and odd treatment.

I highly recommend this Salon! I was anxious to try something new but Marlene took GREAT care of me. I felt welcomed, heard, and comfortable. The salon is gorgeous and I 10/10 recommend you to see Marlene!

I've been seeing Catalina for years...first at the Grand Salon location in Dublin and now at the Short North location. I've since moved out of state and still make time to see her when I'm in town for manicures (gel and traditional) that are perfection. I cannot recommend her highly enough. (I've also trusted her with eyebrow shaping and she's wonderful.)

Son got a haircut and called me directly afterwards talking about how he loved his haircut. Son is a teenager so it takes a lot to impress. Max is now our go to.

Last week I had an appointment at 9 am for “special event” for my nieces wedding. I am from Ontario so the area was not familiar to me and GPS took me to a different High Street address. It was 5 min to my appointment and l called to explain what happened and that I was on my way. Receptionist that answered the phone said “well we have a 10 min grace period and then we can either reschedule you or see if we can fit you in “ I told her I was on my way and I needed my hair done “well as i mentioned we have a 10 min grace period”. I was already stressed and she did NOT help the situation. I was parking my car at 9:10 and again called them to tell them I was just parking. I was greeted and checked in and then told to have a seat. By the way, besides a bridal party and a couple of other clients, the salon was not busy! I said my appointment was for 9? She looked around and said yes, she’s just setting up. At 9:20 a stylist showed up and started setting up, turned out to be my stylist. She was super sweet and although I showed her what I wanted (another lady in the salon just had hers done and showed her) my hair didn’t turn out anything like I wanted. It was now 10:30 and I had to get to my makeup appointment, there was no time to fix anything. I paid over $130 (Canadian) and left feeling stressed and not satisfied. To be honest, thankfully the stylist my niece hired had some time and ended up totally redoing my hair which I was so thankful for. I would have booked with her directly but it was a large bridal party and they couldn’t over commit. Again the stylist was very sweet but my hair was not “special event” worthy. The whole appointment started off on the wrong foot for absolutely no reason. I was so frazzled by her response that I didn’t even think to ask for her name .

Front desk service was incredible, great product recommendations, brow service was not good. Don’t go here for brows, I recommend exquisite threading. Do not go here for brows.My brows are overtrimmed and lopsided. Do not bother. Horrible. The worst brow service of my life results wise. Absolutely not. So after a week my review is still exactly the same. I have discovered a small bald patch on my brows I’ve never had before from poor trimming technique. Had my brows threaded for 3.5 years and never had anything close to this result. I would just be extremely careful going to high end salons like this in Columbus . A lot of them do not justify the level of service with the price at all. I can go get my brows threaded for 18.00 and plus the tip walk out with a service 10x better. Unfortunately same goes for many haircuts I’ve had by expensive salons too.

Went to PENZONE for the first time today! Aldina did my hair and gave me exactly what I wanted! I had never been here but she made the experience super comfortable and I knew right away she’d do a great job! She asked me questions about exactly what I wanted! Love my hair she did awesome!

I am a college student and find it difficult to make time and find transportation. I was deeply upset with the haircut I received and found the stylist to not only be poor at his job, but also slightly rude. I had a mens haircut a couple of weeks ago. I was booked with a male stylist, I cannot recall his name. I showed him photos of the desired length and style. He barely looked and begin cutting. I asked for several inches off my hair, but he would hardly take off length. Each time I was asked what I thought throughout the cut, I was clear I was unhappy with the length. After multiple responses, and him not making any change, I said it was good and concluded my haircut. Although people are often unsatisfied with their haircuts, and one employee may not be a great reflection of the business. During my haircut, another stylist was coming up to the guy cutting my hair, asking him about the color he wanted. Also, they had a conversation about how his other client was ready to be colored. It was clear that I was given a very short time slot in the middle of another coloring appointment he had. I found this not only rude but also a reflection of penzones policy and treatment of customers. I was given a small time slot which rushed the guy cutting my hair to maximize profits. Truly the worst mens cut I've had, and for nearly $50. Truly in awe at their customer service and quality of work.

I am from out of town and just wandered in today, and what a lovely experience! Everyone was just the nicest. Absolutely lovely receptionist and stylist. If I am ever back in the area, I would definitely come back!

I booked Penzone's for my wedding hair and makeup as well as nails the day prior. I was so impressed with how well everything went from planning, bills, trials, communication and the finished product. Highly recommend!

I didn't actually get a cut. I was left to sit and wait with no explanation why I wasn't being seen at my scheduled time. Why have an appt if it isn't even close to when you will get in? And it's not acknowledged that you are being kept waiting? I decided to leave and go elsewhere.

I wanted to like this salon, and I wanted to like the stylist that did my hair (Sage). I went in for a special event hair style. I had an updo style picked out but the stylist thought it would look too “severe” with my dress so I went with my back up hair style which was Hollywood type curls. I called the salon before my appointment and asked if I should come with clean or dirty hair and they said 1 day old, so that’s what I did. I have hair that’s more on the oily side so after one day it was so flat. The stylist did NOTHING to increase the volume or make it look like my hair was not sticking to my head from the oil. She didn’t even brush it before she started curling it. I paid $81 for the worst curls I’ve ever had in my life, 2 Bobby pins and a spritz of hair spray. It was awful. My appointment also started 10 min late and I was 15 min early. When I went to get my makeup done my makeup artist commented “I thought you were getting your hair done before this”. She had to help me salvage my hair before the event. The absolute worst service and experience I’ve ever had at a salon. The audacity to charge $81 for what she did to my hair is shocking. I’m new to the area and I’m looking for a new salon but ladies, this place, ain’t it. Save your money and find a better salon.

I was waiting on the bus actually right outside of this Charles Penzone and I was afraid they would be uppity. I’m a homeless person ; when I walked in and asked for a water they gladly gave me one. I really appreciate it Charles Penzone. Thank you!

I went in for a longer men's hair cut, and I was extremely disappointed with what they did. I showed my stylist, Aria, some pictures and told her than I wanted to keep it on the longer side in the back. She pretty much ignored everything I had said and cut off way more hair than I had asked for. She was sloppy and did not take her time. Never going back to this place.

I would not recommend going here for their updos or even styles. Was very over priced and we were told "I can't do that" for most of our hairstyles. One of the stylists was even down right rude and abrasive. 2 out of the 4 of us went home and had to redo their hair themselves. It was a waste of money for us unfortunately.

My daughter and I scheduled hairstyle and make-up for the morning of my son's wedding at Short North salon one week ago. One of the most important days of my life. Make-up artist, Chey, did a spectacular job so 5+ stars for her. Hair was a disaster. I showed pictures, one of which was my hairstyle for my daughter's recent wedding. My hair was the same length. My daughter did the same. A picture of a low bun she had on her wedding day and a recent family wedding. Aria told me she couldn't curl my hair. (I have very curly hair and wanted them softened). She said her iron wouldn't curl my hair because it was too short. It ended up poker straight. Disaster #1. My daughter's stylist, Nova, told my daughter her hair was too soft for a bun. The bun was falling out before we got to the car and bobby pins were sticking out all over the place. Went to Target and bought a curling iron. My niece curled my hair and redid my daughter's bun, She saved the day. The salon, did well, even refunded my money for the hair styles. I never complain, but I would recommend your employees obtain proper equipment i.e. various size irons and only scheduling your clients with the most expert stylists for such an important occasion.

My experience here was not a good one, in fact I honestly feel taken advantage of. I am a college student who is on a budget so I booked an appointment with a newer artist for a balayage and cut. My artist did consult with me about how I wanted my hair cut and what I wanted my color to be. After sitting for a test strand for about an hour my artist washed it out and THEN told me that she cannot cut my hair because it is curly. I completely understand her reasoning and am not upset that she didn’t color or cut my hair—I am upset about the fact she waited OVER AN HOUR to tell me this. If she was not capable of doing my hair, why wouldn’t she inform in the the beginning? In the end I paid $60 for my hair to be washed and for moose to be put in it. I can wash my hair at home for free. I genuinely feel that I was taken advantage for money. I was not informed that I would not be receiving the service that I wanted until over halfway through my appointment. If I had been informed of this fact in the beginning of my appointment I wouldn’t have wasted my time getting my hair washed and would have simply rescheduled with a different artist. Now, I will be looking for a different salon to get my hair done at, and hopefully one that offers transparency upfront with their clients.

Today, I visited the salon for the first time. My experience was ok, and it could have been better. I wanted a little volume in my hair, but I was unsure which cut would suit me. So I asked the stylist to do it according to her, and she did a blunt cut, and my hair looked very thin. That was a mistake to ask her to choose a style for me. I didn't like my haircut. It is not looking as if I have done a haircut recently. The salon is neat and clean and has a good environment. Next time will make sure to tell the style I want.

Would avoid this salon if possible! On 10/4 I had an appointment at 4:45 for a color cut and style. At 3:50, I was called and asked to move my appointment to 5:45 because my stylist had to do a color correction from an earlier appointment that day. When I arrived at the salon, I wasn't taken back for my appointment until after 6:05. In the middle of the color application, the stylist left to wash her other client's hair. Once my color had processed and my hair was washed, the stylist dried and cut my hair. When I was finally turned to see my hair, all of the blonde pieces of my balayage were blue. At this point, I was told that it was from a blue shampoo that she used and that it would wash out in 5-6 washes. Unfortunately, I had a full day of work and parent teacher conferences the next day and did not have time to go home and wash my hair 5-6 times to remove the blue. We ended up going back to the washing station and using a clarifying shampoo multiple times to remove the blue. After the second wash, it was nearing 8 pm so I left the salon with wet hair. I was charged full price and told that my parking could not be validated because of the length of the appointment. I followed up on the Penzone website describing my experience and asking for a refund. I was told that they could only offer me a color correction appointment. I asked the director to speak to her manager and she said she would follow back up with me that day before 6 pm (10/6). I still have not heard anything back!

I had my first experience at Penzone tonight and everyone was so wonderful! Aria did a wonderful job on my color. She was kind, professional, and friendly. Cheyenne at the front desk helped me with an issue I had with a gift card I had. She was super helpful and kind as well. I’d recommend this salon to anyone!

Went in for a simple haircut and asked for slight face framing/ angle around face and hair length between shoulders and collarbone. specifically said NOT curtain bangs. Stylist immediately cut curtain bangs ABOVE MY CHIN. they could tell i was not happy but unfortunately the cut was already made. Not to mention they repeatedly called me by the wrong name the entire service. Would not go here for a haircut and will not be returning.
