Pin Me Up Chicago was the absolute best to work with on my wedding day! Nicole did hair and Lily did makeup for myself and four family members, and it was such a treat to spend the morning with them. They helped me make a few adjustments from my initial trial hair and makeup and had me feeling like a million bucks! I'd highly recommend booking with PMU. Photos are from Emma Petersen Photography

I booked Pin Me Up for my wedding day hair and was very happy overall! Kim did my hair trial and day of hair and she did a fabulous job. She was attentive, listened to what I was looking for and executed my vision beautifully. The bridal party was also very happy with their hair as well - So grateful to Kim for helping make me feel confident and beautiful on my wedding day!

SCAM alert! This review is based on just how the business is run, not on individual artists skills. I needed hair and makeup done for an event so I booked bc of the great reviews. Their prices were also on the lower end compared to others. I booked through email and received an invoice to pay before my service. The invoice was for $200 for hair/makeup and $40 tax. Illinois has no tax on services- you should never be asked to pay tax and a red flag if it's 20% tax. I emailed to inquire and was told it's a "gratuity tax" that goes straight to the artists. There's gratuity and there's tax but there's no such thing as "gratuity tax" lol. It's fraud to collect anything under the term tax if it's not government collection. Why not list it as mandatory gratuity on invoice then instead of just "tax"? Customers wouldn't know they're tipping if they didn't clarify. I would definitely tip at least 20% so I thought whatever let me book and pay, but when I went to do so it asked if I would like to leave a tip and suggested percentages of the total including the supposed gratuity. That made me super angry bc it's clearly just trying to ripoff customers. Why not raise your prices by 20% instead of including a fake 20% tax?? Either they're dumb or think the customers are dumb, but either way major ick! I went with a place that was more expensive overall but at least didn't feel like someone was trying to scam me.

I can't say enough good things about our experience with Pin Me up (special shout out to Taylor and Michelle) for my wedding day! From the very first trial, I knew we were in great hands. Taylor's makeup artistry was incredible—she really listened to my vision and made it come to life, which eased all my pre-wedding nerves. We had so much fun during the trial, laughing and chatting, which made the whole process feel relaxed and enjoyable. On the big day, I felt absolutely stunning! The makeup artistry was incredible—everyone not only created a beautiful look but also ensured it lasted all day without a hitch. The hair styling was equally amazing; each bridesmaid, bridespeople and moms had a gorgeous look that perfectly complemented our outfits. Everyone felt fabulous and received so many compliments throughout the day! PMU created such a positive atmosphere, making the morning of the wedding feel like a celebration in itself. I can’t recommend them highly enough for any bride looking for talented professionals who are also a joy to be around! Thank you all for helping make my wedding day so special!

I could not have had a better experience with Pin Me Up. Their communication was consistent and clear, and they matched me with the absolute best artists (Adia and Tonya) based on how I described my desired look for the day. That fact was clear following my trial and made me feel calm and confident heading into my wedding day. Both artists not only executed exactly what I wanted but also allowed me to look like an elevated version of myself - a fact that was really important to me. Both Mothers of the Bride and Groom were pleased as well, and my whole party looked amazing!

I was lucky enough to have Branden and Kim as my MUA and hair duo for not only my engagement shoot, but my wedding day as well. From the engagement shoot, to the trial, to the day of the wedding, Kim and Branden were communicative, supportive, and gave great feedback when prompted. My hair is famously terrible at holding curl and Kim chatted with me to come up with the perfect plan for my desired hairstyle. On my wedding day, she was awesome at nailing everyone's different hairstyle requests and styles. Branden not only made sure to discuss everyone's wants with the makeup in detail before getting started, but truly tailored each person's makeup to their comfort level. I was so impressed at his level of personalization while still making sure everyone's makeup would work great for photos. All in all, on my wedding day, my hair and makeup held for over 12 hours, through windy outdoor photos, to crazed hours of dancing. I felt absolutely stunning on my wedding day and I couldn't be more grateful to them. I will be going to them for all my hair and makeup needs in the future.

My wife, myself, and our bridesmaids all had a wonderful experience with Pin me up! We did two bridal trials and then had two hair artists and one makeup artist for our day of to do us, our party, and our moms - everyone did an amazing job! They were professional, on time, flexible, and followed our requested styles wonderfully! We would definitely recommend Pin Me Up for your hair and makeup needs!

Kim (hair) and Denise (makeup) were an absolute rockstar duo! They did hair and makeup for me, my mom, my mother in law and my entire bridal party. They did a fantastic job, we all looked so good AND they were a lot of fun to spend the day with. Would recommend them both in an instant!

Pin Me Up made me feel sooooo pretty on my wedding day! I booked them way in advance because they were highly recommended by a friend. The online portal was easy to navigate and I was able to reach out to Jessica whenever I had a question or change. I had ten girls getting hair and makeup done the morning of, so I was super worried about timing! Pin Me Up brought plenty of stylists and makeup artists in order to ensure we stayed on track. All of my girls were able to get the touch-ups they wanted as we started to get closer to pictures and they looked beautiful! Most importantly, our makeup and hair still held up despite the 90+ degree heat and insane wind on the rooftop where our ceremony was held! I highly recommend them!

I loved working with Kristine (makeup) and Peri (hair) for my wedding! Kristine was very responsive to feedback and was generally just a great person to talk to. Peri quickly understood my mom, sister's, and my hair requests and really knew her way around Asian hair styles! Also when my first trial didn't go as imagined, Dana really went out of her way to help me set up a second trial and pair me up with new artists and stylists who better fit my style. (I wasn't sure whether I should do a trial, and so glad I did!)

We hired through Pin Me Up for wedding makeup and had a great experience. They were communicative during the booking process. We wanted a makeup artist who was familiar with covering up facial hair and who works well with all skin tones, and they paired us with Hector who was a perfect match! Hector was so kind during our trials and made any adjustments we wanted, and he was such a blast to have with us on the morning of the wedding. (And his makeup work was of course amazing! We got so many compliments.) I am so glad we found Pin Me Up and Hector and would definitely recommend them.

I used Pin Me Up for my wedding hair/makeup and they did such a phenomenal job! Kim did my hair, my mom’s hair, and several of my bridesmaids - everyone loved their hairstyles. On top of the great styling, she was also so kind! She took extra time and paid attention to detail to ensure that everyone’s hair looked incredible. My original makeup artist had to cancel the morning of my wedding due to an emergency, but Mimi stepped up right away. Although I was nervous that I now I had a new person assigned, she came fully prepared to do my makeup and my mom’s. She ended up being more skilled than the initial MUA and my makeup looked amazing. Also, super kind and patient! Both Kim and Mimi made me feel like a beautiful bride. Their professionalism and kindness was unmatched!

They were also very quick doing various HMU services between five different ladies with a quality outcome for each! They always made sure each was happy with what was done and gave the ability to communicate small tweaks.

Amanda did my hair and Brandon did my makeup... Y'ALL. Could not be happier with how it turned out! They were both personable, professional, and Amanda specifically got herself a lifetime client for all things hair! They truly treated me like it was their own wedding day. The most impressive part was that I didn't really like my hair from my trial. They offered me a complimentary re-trial with a different stylist. Then, they immediately followed up with me after my re-trial to see how it went (and it couldn't have gone better!). I could tell they genuinely cared about my experience. Only thing I would emphasize is to make sure to go to the right location if you are going to their salon. The one listed on Google is NOT the right location! Make sure to read their welcome email. Also, fellow people pleasers, don't be afraid to give feedback to your stylist. If you don't like it, just voice it! That was the mistake I made during my first trial. I didn't like my hair but didn't quite know how to give constructive feedback. The hair looked bad, but I wasn't sure how to articulate what went wrong. Come prepared to give exact direction. Book them up!!!

My stylist was Holly and ladies book her up! she is the sweetest person and coming from someone who can barely walk and breathe at the same time correctly this girl is just magic.

Their customer service is excellent with easy communication, quick feedback, and overall organization that makes you feel at ease. I cannot say enough good things about their services. Jessica was responsive and timely in answering all my questions and helping me schedule. Mei did my makeup and she did an absolutely beautiful job. She is so incredibly knowledgable about her craft and makeup wear on brides and is meticulous in making sure I looked beautiful and also knows how to do asian brides. Harley did my hair and as someone with stick straight asian hair she did a phenomenal job as well - she got my hair to curl and stay curled for the entirety of my day. 1000% recommend they do incredible work.

Liz was my makeup artist for my wedding day and she was FANTASTIC!! I felt so beautiful and she gave me the perfect glowy, natural look that I wanted. She was also so quick and was consistently running about 29 minutes ahead of schedule which really helped ease my mind. Liz was great and it was so easy to book and pay at Pin Me Up.

Pin Me Up Chicago is absolutely delightful to work with. I had two hair trials and one makeup trial, and felt so grateful throughout the entire experience. On the big day, my makeup by Mei was absolutely stunning, and my hair by Jojo was perfect. I felt like a queen, and everything looks outstanding in the photos. My bridesmaids, the MOB and MOG and flower girls looked absolutely incredible the entire day and night, and the PMU team was so fast and thorough! they got through 12 people in 3 hours. It was absolutely amazing! I could not be more grateful to Mei, Jojo, Caitlin and Sarah for all of their time, work and talent on our wedding day. We felt like movie stars! 10/10 experience.

Pin Me Up Chicago made the booking of Hair and Make-Up services simple, reliable, and a boost of confidence. They were quick to respond and had great pricing. Dana and Jessica were always ready to respond to a text and were flexible when we had to change locations a week before the wedding. The stylists were on time, professional, and very friendly. They were ready to accommodate any request made and even redid a couple of bridesmaids' hair when they were not 100% happy with the results. I also had the hairstylist come back and do touch-ups after the ceremony before the reception which allowed for a quick "outfit" change by changing my hair without having to have a second dress. I would absolutely recommend Pin Me Up as a vendor and would use them again for any event!

Used for my hair and makeup for my wedding, 9/3. It's important to note that this review pertains to my experience dealing with the company itself, rather than the artists who provided the services. My primary frustration stemmed from the difficulty of getting in touch with Jessica, the company's representative. Communication with her was consistently challenging, and I found myself having to repeatedly reach out for updates and, quite surprisingly, to make payment arrangements. The latter, especially in the lead-up to my wedding, was an unnecessary source of stress. Another issue that arose was the logistical mix-up regarding the location. Despite our wedding coordinator diligently conveying all necessary details, such as contact information and hotel arrangements, the artists still ended up at the wrong hotel and calling me on the wedding day, rather than my coordinator. I do not fault the artists for this; rather, it appears to be a result of inadequate communication within the company. One significant drawback was the absence of a dedicated phone number for emergencies. This omission led to several hiccups during the planning process and on the wedding day itself. In a high-stakes event like a wedding, having a direct line for immediate assistance is crucial. On a positive note, I want to acknowledge that the artists themselves were super friendly, talented and professional. They did a lovely job, and I have no complaints about the quality of their work. Additionally, the pricing offered by this company is competitive when compared to other similar services in the Chicago area. However, I can't help but feel that the company's pricing structure reflects its communication issues and organizational challenges. While their rates may be attractive, the frustrations caused by these shortcomings did impact my overall satisfaction.

She was both skilled and attentive to our needs and preferences and so fun to chat with during the process as well. I loved working with Pin Me Up. I was planning my wedding from Europe, so communication and scheduling all had an extra layer of complication, and everyone at Pin Me Up was extremely responsive and helped things go smoothly. Sam, makeup, and Harley, hair, were absolute pros and translated requests from the wedding party for everything from "punk rock" to "slightly bohemian" to "space kitty" into truly stunning looks. They were a joy to work with and I've never felt more beautiful. Plus my hair and makeup were still fully intact after several hours of dancing! Miraculous!

I recommend Pin Me Up for on-site hair and makeup services in the Chicago-land area, especially for brides looking for good value and flexibility. I am glad I went with a company that has access to multiple artists as the hair stylist I booked and did my trial with ended up (very unfortunately) in the hospital a few days before my event. So, the day of my wedding I met my stylist for the first time, which is never ideal, however Jeanette was flexible and worked efficiently to complete the hair styles for myself (the bride), my two bridesmaids and my Mom. I do wish Pin Me Up had more standards across their stylists / “look books” to describe certain terms or options, as my day-of stylist didn’t agree with how my original stylist had done certain parts of my look during my trial, so it was a bit stressful trying to figure out how to get my hair to look as I desired with the new stylist. At the end of the day, my hair looked great and I am happy with the results, but I did have more stress given I hadn’t done a trial with my day-of stylist. However, I am glad that Pin Me Up was able to provide me with a back-up stylist so I didn’t have to start my search over 3 days before my wedding.

They match you up with someone from your trial - I was matched with Kristine Else. She was phenomenal from my makeup trial, to communication, and of course, my wedding day. I was GLOWING & my makeup lasted all day. All of my bridesmaids & my mom were extremely pleased with their makeup from Kristine's execution and products to how well it stayed. I would definitely work with Pin Me Up & Kristine again.

So I booked Pin Me Up for our elopement in Chicago over the weekend. We lived out of state so I was nervous about using a salon I had never been to but they had amazing reviews and so I figured it was a good shot. I was actually kinda disappointed with how everything was handled. I was messaged numerous times to confirm information and they were always wrong. I had sent more than one email and left nurmerous voice-mails. It was extremely upsetting a few days before the wedding they were still sending incorrect information to be comfirmed. And it wasn't anything difficult. Just two brides with hair and makeup. The day of, the two artists they provided us with did a good job and we were both happy with how the looks turned out. Overall, not a bad salon but I felt like for what we paid, they werent as good as advertised.
