I booked an appointment here after reading a lot of great reviews. I scheduled with Mai but when I walked in I was told to just take a random seat and someone would be with me. I restated that I specifically booked with Mai and was told ok sure and still never got a cut with Mai. Kay cut my hair. She was very nice and friendly but obviously had no clue how to cut curly hair when she started brushing out my dry curls and trying to cut out the frizz and reshape. I had to ask her to rewet my hair for her to realize. I wasn't asking for anything crazy, just wanted a trim to get the dead ends off. I'm left with at least a 2 inch cut and some really crappy looking layers, which on curly hair are giving off mullet vibes. If you don't have super straight hair, don't come here. And apparently don't expect to get a cut with anyone you book with.

I have been going there since 2022 , I have done highlights , root touch ups , trim , blow dry and flat iron for occasions . My hair fell out 2023 after blonde highlights. I came back to write this now because I was there for an occasion blow dry and I wanted my hair to look nice . I had an appointment, I went on time . When the lady saw my hair ( below my shoulder ) and curly roots , she said ohhhh curly 65$$ . Then after I washed my hair and sat on her chair and she saw my roots curly , she goes like “ ohhhh”. She blow dried my hair in 20 minutes 😄😄 , it was sooo bad , I could have done better but I didn’t have time to do it myself . Then she flat ironed my hair so fast too . She didn’t care at all how I feel or even smile in my face PRETENDING at least to be nice . She made me feel like I’m coming from a different world 🌎 I’m not going there again . And I won’t talk about my experience in November 2022

I was attending a Gatsby party and had worked everything out from the shoes to the dress to the jewelry, hair accessory and nails. What I didn’t realize I forgot to plan was the updo! Eek! I tried a few salons at the last minute on the day of the event and nothing was available until I tried Plaza Hair Salon in RB. They asked me to come back in an hour. I was so fortunate to get Mai to do my hair. She was fabulous! She did a beautiful job on the hairstyle and placement of the hair accessory. Everything stayed secure all night long without looking overly stiff/over-hair-sprayed. And the price was perfect for the amount of time, hair pins, and care she took with making me look Gatsby!! ❤️ I will definitely come back to see Mai anytime I want an updo!

Friendly staff and skilled stylists. I colored my hair twice with Carlee, she is great. She fixed my hair color which was darker that it should be and she performed the service in a professional way. I liked her a lot and intending to stay with her. Easy to book an appointment and prices were fine. Will go back for sure!

Had a 11 am appt for a style. Was told to go sit, about 3 customers came after were taken. 11:30 rolls around and 4 th customer was taken. Seems like since it was just a style not a cut or color everyone was passing me along. Not enough money to be made by a style. Unprofessional and greedy.

I found Kim to be wonderful with highlights (in my case, red) and short haircuts! I’ve gone every couple months for the past year-ish (always with Kim) and have been pleased with my experience every time :)

This place never disappoints. Staff is always super friendly, clean salon. I love how they dont do anything without making sure its ok with you. I hate when salons cut so short, when u just ask for a trim. I love this salon so much. Bye far my fav, no matter you request.

Though my hair came out somewhat presentable, it was not at all what I asked and payed good money for. I came in for a simple haircut and hair coloring with a number of references to show my stylist and she managed to cut my hair too short, dye it the incorrect color, and style it unpleasantly. I suppose I do appreciate them attempting to fix their mistake when I returned to the salon to voice my displeasure, however, their "fixes" did virtually nothing. Rather than fight it, I decided it would be best to find another salon elsewhere before any more mistakes were made. This hair was for a special event so you can imagine my disappointment. More thorough research was certainly required before going to this salon.

Don’t not go to this salon! They will take advantage of you, ruin your hair and tell you there’s nothing they will do to fix it. Zero stars if I could. Horrible salon, horrible owner, horrible stylist.

I have no problem here until this last hair cut. I have taken my son previously and never been charged more than $25. Today they decided he had a lot of hair and up charged us. My daughter came in for a trim on her short bob and we were charged $45 as the owner thinks touching the shoulder is past her shoulder, making it long hair. It was a disappointing experience. Just be wary of the prices. They are not consistent.

My 17 year old daughter came here to get her hair done. The stylist completely destroyed her hair. Spent 5 hours doing things my daughter did not want. I called to speak with the owner who was not helpful at all. $350 for her to ruin my daughters hair. Becareful these people are only out for the money.

happened to be in San Diego for the day trip, past by this salon and decided to color my hair just in time for the fall. The service was spectacular and my hair stylist Mai was super sweet and knows what she's doing. Needless to say the salon was very clean and full of energy. I would come back to visit. Thank you Mai for a great service.

Extremely unprofessional people! I took an appointment with Luann and reconfirmed about it. It was a same day appointment. When I reached there, I came to know that they had scheduled two appointments with Luann at the same time. They wanted me to back off because they put my name in walk-ins but I already had an appointment! They messed up the appointments and were confused. I was already on the chair, opened my hair and they asked me to reschedule it.They don’t know the importance of their customers’ time! I would never go to this salon again! I walked out in an instant.

Had a wonderful experience with my stylist Luann!! She did an amazing job! I got a tone, deep condition and styling, it came out beautiful! My hair looks so much more healthy and full! She was very kind and gave me a great deal! I will definitely be back!

I have been coming to this hair salon for a few years now to get my haircut with Kim. I recently got my hair done by Mai the owner & I honestly knew it was going to look good because I’ve seen her work on a friend of mine but dang, I am obsessed 😍 she is such a nice lady & she knows what she is doing. I recently went here for the Japanese hair straightening and two different stylists were working on me, one on the right side and one on the left. Now my hair on the right side is curlier than the hair on the left. The stylist on the left (Wendy) used much more of the perm solution on my hair whereas the stylist on the right (Sarah) did not use nearly as much. The stylist who used more solution did a much better job and I love how straight it is, I would even leave it as is with no touchups. However, now I have to straighten my entire head just to match the left side with the right. There needs to be more consistency in technique among the stylists here. Or they just need to have one stylist per client, not two, so that the result will be the same throughout the whole head of hair. I did not pay $400 to have half of my hair look different from the other half. UPDATE: Downgrading from 3 stars to 1 star. I went back for the "fix." Beforehand, I called Mai and asked if redoing an entire perm would be too damaging. She assured me my hair would be fine. Now my hair looks so damaged. It did not look damaged at all after the first perm, it looked so healthy. I should have just kept on straightening my hair by myself. Also, while I was there I asked for a trim from the stylist who did the better job on the first perm (Wendy), and my haircut was completely uneven and jaggedy. I got home and realized the right side was about an inch longer than the left side. From the back you could see that my hair was cut at a diagonal with choppy layering especially on the right side (photo included). I had to drive back to the salon for Wendy to fix it and she tried to tell me my hair was originally uneven so she kept it like that. I know it was not uneven and have photos to prove it. While she was fixing it, I had to keep pointing out how it was still uneven because for some reason she could not see for herself. 2 of the 3 times I have been to this salon were for fixing previous mistakes. I should have been offered a partial or full refund for either the perm or the haircut or both. The perm should have been done right the first time and now my hair is damaged. I am very unhappy with my experiences at this salon and did not pay top dollar for such poor service. Go somewhere else!

In the past I had frequented this salon because of Mai's work and the special care that she gave her customers. The second time my hair was ruined was 3 about months ago. As usual, Mai's calendar was filled and she had no available appointments for a long time to come, so again, I decided to trust another stylist at her salon. My thinking was, since these stylists are hired by Mai, they would have the same expertise (or at least close) as her. That once again turned out to be a big mistake. Sara, was the stylist that I entrusted my hair with the second time. She absolutely destroyed my hair. Because I had such high trust in the salon and Mai, I let her work on my hair at her discretion. She was highlighting, coloring, and cutting my hair. As always, I showed a pic of myself with the hair I had in the past and wanted again. Sara went to work. When she started to take my hair out of the foil, I noticed that all my hair had turned white from the roots down! I had asked for a few partial golden blond highlights, but she had bleached almost all of my hair almost completely white! In the pic, my hair was clearly brown with just a few highlights that were barely visible. When I noticed almost my entire head was bleached white, I started to tear up. She assured me she would "fix it". After washing my hair she dyed it completely brown. I didn't understand why she would bleach my hair, then dye it brown. After she washed the die out, she lost track of what I had told her about how I wanted my hair trimmed, and she chopped over half my hair off! I have extremely thin hair that took 6 years to grow out. She took it all off in less than 5 minutes! Not only had she bleach burned all my hair, she chopped over half of it off! Furthermore she had given me long layers, that I had worked years to get rid of! I had told her in the beginning that I was getting rid of my layers. She did that exact opposite of everything I asked for! It was devastated. The tears were streaming down my face as I tried to compose myself. Then she and the other stylist (that had ruined my hair the first time) both said, "it's only hair. Why are you crying about something that will grow back?" Their business was hair, so it must be important to them. To my utter surprise, when Mai found out, she was on their side! She said my hair looked good! What she didn't acknowledge was that it was the exact opposite of what I had asked for, and now it was completely bleached damaged underneath the dye and short! I had worked years to grow my hair out long, and I loved my long hair. As a child my mother always cut my hair very short and I dreamed of having long hair. This was the only time my hair was the length I wanted it, and Sara just chopped it off in less than five minutes! Knowing I was very upset, Mai offered me a deep conditioning treatment (that did nothing to restore my damaged hair). In the end, I had a $300 bill! I refused to pay that much, so I payed $150 and gave Sara a $40 tip for her time, not her quality of work! Fast forward 3 months, I have had to dye my hair 3 times since, because the color keeps washing out because my hair is bleach blond and completely damaged underneath. And never once has Mai reached out to me, a loyal customer of several years, to apologize for her stylists destroying my hair and making me feel bad. To add insult to injury, when I went back to get the free deep conditioning (which did not even slightly help my frizzy chemical damaged hair) she said I didn't pay for the appointment! This was an outrage because I payed almost $200 to have my hair destroyed! I waited 3 months to write this review, to give Mai a chance to at least acknowledge her team's incompetence, but she has not, so I'm finally speaking out.

Took my teen daughter here for the first time and Mai did a great job with the cut and color. Did just what we asked for. My daughter had a lot of blond grow-out from a balayage treatment and Mai brought it back to her natural brown color. Very happy. Will be back!

Unfortunately I was not enamored with this salon. The staff were not very commutative and the hair cut was subpar at best. Even though only one other client was there, I felt like my haircut was rushed. I will not be going back.
