I’ve been coming to this location for around a year off and on and I noticed a new Hispanic girl working here on my last couple visits. I never got my hair pressed by her, thank god, and I feel like she ruins the atmosphere and aesthetic of the salon. She doesn’t seem too knowledgeable on textured hair at all, which in terms, devalues the purpose of the salon since black women are the main reason this business created in the first place. I over heard a conversation of this stylist telling another lady that she was born with “pin straight hair”, making it seem as if our hair is a burden to work with. Personally, I wouldn’t let her touch my hair if she were the last stylist at this salon. She finished her client, who had thicker and longer hair than mine may I add, a little over half an hour before my stylist finished mine and I arrived first! This alone shows that this girl has no clue how to manage, take care of, or properly press out textured hair. The style looked great but there’s no chance it held up for that poor women once she walked out of the salon. My stylist even commented on how swiftly she does hair regularly and also seemed displeased with the results of that other stylist’s lack of attention to detail and rushed service. Pressed Roots needs to do a better job on hiring stylist who not only fit the aesthetic of the salon but know the culture and are part of the culture. We can’t keep inviting everyone to the BBQ! We need to protect our crowns from those who are jealous of our hair and not to sound prejudice but, Hispanic women are known to be envious of our thick manes being that their hair is usually thin, weak and flat compared to ours. Do better Pressed Roots.

Great experience! I believe my stylist name was Tamia and she was so sweet. She has only been at Pressed for 2 weeks, 3 weeks out of school and I was highly impressed. She was smart enough to ask for guidance from more experienced staff when needed and I applaud that! I left with perfectly pressed hair. And due to the weather, they obliged my request to wrap it, even though it's not a service they offer! 10 outta 10, highly recommend!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting my hair stylist, and I can't rave enough about the experience! In just one hour, Amayia transformed my look with incredible skill and attention to detail. She took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and delivered beyond my expectations. My hair has never looked better—it's vibrant, stylish, and perfectly suited to me. I highly recommend Amayia for anyone looking for expert care and a fantastic outcome in a short amount of time! Also my curls did come back first wash.

The firsr time I went, my press was absolutely beautiful, however, it only lasted from the chair to my house in regular weather under no stress. I went back again and they listened to my concerns and attempted to make up for the previous visit. Again amazing service, beautiful outcome, hair started to swell that evening and 2 days later I needed clip ins just to hold me over until my touch up with Amber. Amber touched my hair up the Sunday before Thanksgiving, and I have since wore it down, 2 different clip in styles, ponty tail, bun, and halo braids with just my hair. I take showers with water set from hell. I have not washed my hair since then, touched it up once for the first time middle of last week, and for the first time since the press, I've had to add gel to it last night to keep my ponytail slick. Definitely not a bash on the company because there are customers whose experience was not like mine but it truly highlights how a standardized process is not always suitable for every type of hair and the importance of a stylist to identify thay and know how to manipulate the process for that individual to have the same long-term experience as the other customers. Understanding Pressed Roots has a system for a reason, I wouldn't mind going to Amber independently knowing the price for the service and the tip will be well worth it. Regardless of my experience with Pressed Roots I would still highly recommend it considering it may work for others and their service is top tier.

Updated Review: I had gone away from Pressed Roots but now i'm back because of convenience. Still great service and Addie is AMAZING. She's so kind and professional and has given me some tips to help keep my hair healthy.

We had a great experience today! Nancy was so welcoming and sweet as soon as my step daughter and I entered the salon. My daughters hairstylist Deidra was professional, sweet, and did an amazing Signature Silk Blowout! 10/10 highly recommend not to mention the music, drinks, & the beautiful aesthetic in the salon!

Absolutely amazing! Took my 12yr old daughter for her first salon experience and they did not disappoint. The stylist Addy was so friendly, easygoing and took her time with my daughter's hair. She made my daughter and I both comfortable throughout the whole process. Addy also was able to teach me some haircare routines to do with my daughter's hair which I truly appreciated. My daughter couldn't stop smiling and was over the moon with the final look. Thank you Addy! We will definitely be coming back!

I have been coming here for the last couple of years and I have loved my experience. I have noticed the quality of their services has been declining. You don’t see the same hairstylist again, their employee retention rate is low. I feel like all their talented employees have left and they are hiring just anyone. I have gotten my hair done 3 times this year and 2/3 experience has been terrible. The stylists didn’t do a good job. Once I left the store, my hair was reverting to its natural state and I had to come back in to get it fixed. And that’s a lot of unnecessary heat and inconvenience. Other time, the hairstylist took 3 hours to do my hair and it wasn’t that good. My hair was still frizzy and looked like it was blow dried. My family and friends who come here have shared similar experiences.

I honestly think you are better off going to an independent hairstylist if you have textured hair/ a tighter curl pattern. The first time I went, my silk press came out amazing with Brittany. However, it seems like all of their original stylists have left. My last silk press was far from silky and left me heat damage in certain parts of my hair. I also felt like my hair was being burnt, tugged, and pulled in all directions. This was not the same experience my first go round. I’d say they should focus on training their new hairstylist like they did their former. I don’t think I’ll be back anytime soon.

I’m lucky, I matched up with Addi the first time I came for pampering in the summer and she’s literally all I’ll book with. I feel confident in the process of her pampering me like she seriously knows what’s best for my pampering needs. I really love how she styles me every time. She has that old school yet new school whip when it comes to the hair honey 💁🏽‍♀️

My daughters and I have been coming to this salon for years and can confidently say that both the stylists and the receptionist have made my experiences here phenomenal. Shoutout to the stylist Brittany, specifically for a job that's always well done. However, incidents this past year have led me to believe that this company is being poorly managed, and that employees are being mistreated by the head manager, whose name is Kevin. I have worked in HR for over two decades, so whenever I'm being serviced, I tend to pick up on business practices automatically. The employee retention here is horrible, as I never see the same faces more than twice, which is always telling from a consumer's perspective. I’ve noticed that employees often eat whenever they can, as they are not given official breaks, and I have been told that they are not provided with one. Inventory is not properly managed, as they often run out of basic supplies like deep conditioners and processing caps. When the manager, Kevin, approaches, the stylists speak in hushed voices, as if they fear speaking around him. Though I am not sure of their salaries or hourly rates, poor retention typically correlates with poor compensation. As much as I love coming here and being serviced, I cannot continue spending my money at a business that does not value its employees. I hope that those in higher management are aware of these very apparent issues and take action to make the necessary managerial changes.

I had an appointment today at 5:30 for my daughter, starting off they moved my appointments twice from 5:30 to 6 then back to 5:30 I arrived at 5:25 and waited ten min before they started on her hair once she was on the chair the stylist decided to cancel the appointment and said she wasn’t able to do her hair, I told her I I didn’t mind paying extra, went to speak with a manager, waited another 15 min for em to come back and tell my Daughter to get out the chair, very unprofessional, proceeded to say I wasn’t gonna get my money back and treaten to call security on me in front of other guest, and continue to argue and tell me I should be able to take better care of her hair as I am a barber, but I decided to bring her in since someone refer me to ya, the host started moving her hair giving me an attitude all I wanted was my refund and a number to speak with whoever is in charge, the host kept embarrassing me infront of all the ppl in the salon, I thought coming to Plano and getting my daughters hair would be pleasant but your staff is incompetent to deliver a simple service and having them get attitude when they turn down my daughter in front of the whole salon, I want my money back and I would never again bring her here or recommend anyone to this place as they embarrassed my daughter and my self. I still need someone to contact me and get me my refund.

Great experience at Pressed Roots! My appointment was for a silk press on my natural hair. The moment I walked through the doors, I first noticed that the salon is beautiful. My stylist Maydrum was amazing and was such a pleasure to talk to. She explained each step of the process and provided endless information of all things natural hair. She answered all of my questions and gave me tips of how to maintain my look following my appointment. Would highly recommend booking an appointment at Pressed Roots DFW!!

I’ve been coming to pressed for awhile and I must say .. MATEO IS THE BEST!! He prioritizes your concerns and is always open to educating you. His recommendations for treatments are always so good and my press always lasts so long! I’ve sat in various chairs here but my experience with him has been unmatched. His positive energy, his willingness and the way he has mastered the technique is exactly why I’m a regular.

Pressed Roots has truly outdone themselves after my recent visit and I have to say it is all because of my stylist Addie! After being in braids for three months I can say I was dreading coming to get my hair done just because of all the pain I assumed I would be in during my appointment. However Addie ,also known as my superhero, talked me throughout the entire process and ensured me that I was in good hands! She was very gentle yet extremely efficient in making sure my hair was clean and detangled and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Not only did she do an amazing wash and detangle she styled my hair beyond perfection!!!! I can say this has been my favorite experience so far and I can’t wait to come back and see Addie! So Thank you Pressed Roots for hiring superhero’s because my hair wouldn’t have made it without her!

Denedra did such an amazing job on my daughter’s hair. This was the first time she got her hair pressed and trimmed. She is all natural and I have researched products to maintain her hair healthy. She is mixed and has a ton of hair. Denedra was patient and efficient. She worked on her head on a timely manner while also being very caring. She gave me a lot of good tips on hair care routing for my daughter’s hair. She was also very welcoming and made us feel comfortable. My daughter’s hair was left super silky and smooth. Her hair style is gorgeous; she instantly started to get compliments. We definitely will return to get serviced by Denedra! Thank you for making it such a good first time experience for my daughter!

I was leery to try a new stylist after Chelsea left, but great reviews led me to Denedra. The front desk staff and phone reps were all extremely accommodating via text to ensure that I kept my appt with them despite the inconvenience. Denedra is personable, knowledgeable, has vocals (y’all know they jam in PR), and truly cares about her client’s hair. She educated me on over-moisturizing my hair, despite my desire for big poofy hair when I wear my hair curly. She recommended a trim and I was pleased with the fact that she didn’t get “scissor happy”. My edges are laid for the Gods. My flatiron curls (a skill in itself) are STILL intact, which they usually don’t last the ride home. She even made herself available for my friend on a day she usually doesn’t work, just so that she could get us both right for U-S-H-E-R-RA-YM-OND…. I’m sad to see Chelsea go, but Denedra just came in and scooped me up real quick. I LOVEEEE my hair. Prayerfully it’ll still be cute on Saturday, which she also gave me pointers on to keep it as such. Thank you, Denedra. I can’t stay out of the mirror, lol! I’ll be back ;)
