I chose Paru based on Google reviews; so glad I did! This was my first time with injections and I was very nervous and over-analytical going into it. I am 34 and in process of major weight loss that has revealed areas I needed help to mitigate aging in. I shopped around a bit and did not like the overall ease with which other places were happy to push me right into getting treatment right away and also not really guiding me regarding what I needed. I had no idea what was needed, just that I wanted to do something. At my consult, Mary was the opposite of this. She very thoughtfully & professionally gave me guidance regarding what she would recommend and what service I would need to accomplish that goal. What she said made sense and put me at ease knowing that she had a vision and wasn’t relying on me to tell her what I want. I had a signature lift with Xeomin (toxin) and Radiesse (filler). It was not painful and I did not have adverse affects aside some minor swelling that subsided quickly. Now— the results were amazing. I did not anticipate the impact it would have. I am so stoked to see such an improvement to my overall aesthetic and I know that this could not have been accomplished without the expertise and precision that Mary has with her craft. Coming from someone who was on the fence and unsure of even if I would want these treatments I would without hesitation recommend Mary & Paru.

Sarah, Mary’s assistant, is professional, personable and very dedicated to ensuring a positive patient experience! You’ll never feel rushed, over sold, or unsure at PARU. Mary is amazing at putting together a holistic plan that accounts for root causes and addresses the whole person. Highly, high recommended Mary!

Mary is absolutely amazing! My first appointment I went in for Botox and I was so pleased with the results. My next appointment I did radiesse in my chin and cheeks and then lip filler. I am absolutely in love with my results. Mary is such an expert and so knowledgeable, she really customizes the treatments needed and explains everything throughout the process. You can tell she genuinely cares about her patients and is great at making them feel as comfortable as possible during the procedures. 10/10 recommend

Was a client of Mary’s for 4 years. The last time I went to see her was a total disaster so will never return. Very insincere. Wound up going to see a new injector who was recommended by a friend and WHOAH..what a difference. I pulled up the receipts that showed what Mary previously was injecting into my face and my new girl had a totally different plan. What a difference it made!! My Botox and fillers last MONTHS longer for the same price. And my new girl is the sweetest ever. So glad I made the switch and listened to my gut. Used to refer my girls to Mary but never again!

I have gone to Paru for a number of years ever since Mary opened her own business. Initially, I went just for Botox. I drive from Chapel Hill to Cary because I am so happy with her work. I trust her implicitly. So I have gone on to try two more procedures. I have added to my regimen the Moxi treatment which has really improved the condition of my skin. A added benefit is that the recovery time is very quick. I have also ventured into fillers which I was reluctant to do. I am someone who is 66 and I want to look very natural. She did a phenomenal job. You would never know anything was done to my face but I look so much better. Plus, the product she used works by building your own collagen. I always enjoy seeing Mary and over the five years I feel she is a friend. She is a good person and great at her job. She is always training and learning new techniques as well as teaching others regarding the practice. She has a great eye and the results she achieves are amazing. I am grateful to have found her and glad my trust in her judgment has resulted in such a benefit to me.

I left my 5th appointment with Mary feeling like something that is supposed to be a fun treat was turned into an experience that made me feel less than. Prior to this appointment, which I’ll get into, I already had an icky feeling because she spent the majority of previous sessions hard selling her $600+ facials to me when I repeatedly told her it wasn’t in my current budget. In my last appointment, we added 8 extra units than I’ve done in the past to extend the duration of the treatment. 16 days later, I still had most of my usual movement in my forehead. I expressed concern and we scheduled a follow-up consult. At that consult, I was taken in 26 minutes late, and when I simply asked questions about why this might have happened - she told me "where they run into problems with patients’ results is when they come in trying to direct their care." I reiterated that wasn’t what I was trying to do - I’ll do whatever she recommended, I just wanted to understand. She then suggested adding 4-6 more units. I shared I had already spent around the top of my budget ($490), so maybe we do 4 units. She then aggressively told me this is HER work so we will do what SHE recommends. And that this is an amendment to the original service so it won’t cost me anything if that answers my question. Not sure why she didn’t just lead with that… Finally, she dismissed me out of her office by handing me my used towelette and I left with a bleeding forehead feeling like a poor idiot and chastened schoolchild. Perhaps she is used to servicing rich Preston women who can spend and do anything she tells them to.

I sit in the chair, and I tell her whatever you think needs to be done with my budget and works with it. It’s a great collaboration and it’s fun trying to age gracefully with Mary and Sarah! Mary is so knowledgeable and always staying relevant!

Because my daughter repeatedly had been trying to get me to go in for a consultation, I finally did, reluctantly I might add. Well, did she prove me wrong! After just one treatment, the light and laser therapies have changed everything. Not only are the dark spots on my face dramatically lighter, but the spots on my hands are almost gone completely. And my skin looks so much healthier now. Mary and Sarah were both very patient with me and explained in detail everything I needed to know about the treatment, care and recovery. I can honestly say that I'm looking forward to the next treatments to see further improvement in my skin.

This review is late but I was cleaning out my email today, reading Mary’s very rude response and to this days I still tell everyone this story as one of the rudest business moments. I had worked with Mary when she was at her previous employer and was excited to see that she had started her own place after I was done having a baby. I was scheduled as a new patient at her new place for a Tuesday appointment at 245P. It’s also important to note that I live about an hour away. On Monday morning, the day before my appointment, I came down with a very high fever. The kind you are so high that you are delirious and can barely walk. I tried to call the studio and leave a voicemail but I they were closed on Mondays. I followed up with an email letting her know my situation. Then, an hour AFTER my appointment time on Tuesday she sends me an email saying I was charged $250 for missing the appointment and that it didn’t fall into the 48 hours. I have never in my life had a business treat me so poorly. As a business owner I understand policies and having to pay people but you would have at least thought she would have called and talked it out so I could have used some type of credit given the situation. Also, my appointment was a CONSULTATION. I wasn’t necessarily getting any work done anyway. It may have not been 48 hours exactly but it was plenty of time for an emergent situation. Thinking back now, I wish I could have drove in and just gotten her whole team sick - guess that would have been better lol, but honestly I was that sick.

I absolutely love Mary and have followed her around for several years as she has made her journey to her business Paru. I’ve tried to go locally (I live over an hour away from the RDU area), and each time I end up disappointed, crooked, or with a droopy brow. Mary is exceptional, informative, up to date on all the latest knowledge and tricks of the trade, etc. I’ve learned the hard way that it is worth the drive and cost to take the extra time to get to Mary for my treatments because she’s meticulous and wonderful overall. Kudos!!

I attended a private training session with Mary a few weeks ago. In the four hours spent with her, I learned more than I have from anyone in my past two years of injecting. I was getting ready to switch doctoral programs into veterinary medicine, but she inspired me to want to continue with aesthetics to be the best injector I can be. Take a training session or be a patient of hers. Either way, you will be happy you did!!

Mary is the best of the best and is absolutely an expert at what she does. As someone who was new to this when I started with her, I was nervous and asked a million questions. Mary really listens to you and makes you feel seen and heard and will go above and beyond to answer questions, ensure comfort, and put you at ease. I love her approach of asking what you see as a problem area or what you're looking to change rather than asking "what you want done." She also takes the time to really educate you on everything from general skin care to more complex things and she makes excellent recommendations. She is kind, approachable, accommodating, flexible, and non-judgmental. I seriously couldn't recommend her more, especially if you're new and nervous! I will never go anywhere else so long as I live in NC and even if I moved away, I'd still make the trip if I could.

This was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had. Mary is absolutely gorgeous and the most professional with her skills and talent next to none. The Consultation makes you feel like a queen, even though you need a lot of help! She explains everything in lay terms that makes it easy to understand. What’s utterly amazing, is how quickly the treatment took effect, and how completely refreshed I look especially in the neck bands! Walking into the beauty studio, the atmosphere is so calm and welcoming. It gives you that, "I wanna take my shoes off feel." :) I'm so glad I found Mary, She is amazingly beautiful inside and out and she's so knowledgeable in her craft. I was both nervous and excited, but Mary certainly made me feel at ease. She listened to all of my concerns, I didn't feel rushed or unheard. She thoroughly studied my face and we came up with a treatment plan. She provides tons of education that you are able to understand and I love that. My plan was to go in for my consultation and schedule treatment in the future, well listen, I was so comfortable and I knew I was in great hands. I asked Mary, "can we start today?!" I'm also not a "leave a review person," but Mary is so worthy! I Know what it feels like looking for the right person to trust with your face and skincare needs, its scary. Mary came very highly recommended and I am so glad I faced my fear and had her provide me my first Botox treatment. She was patient with my questions and eased all of my worries.
