When we arrived for our couples massage, we were hushed right away and as soon as I gave them my name, I was asked to "pay cash right now". The massage started so bizarrely. First, there was very loud and persistent banging from next door. We were to remain under the sheets while they truly just pushed and prodded up and down our body with no real purposeful manner. Not a "massage-technique" by any means. Then, they start the oil massage. At best, I left well-moisturized, at worst, I was freezing and being rubbed down with no pressure, and no specialized attention to any specific muscle group. We were not convinced the people working on us were actually licensed. They also carried on a whispered conversation between the two of them for a notable portion of time. I cannot emphasize this enough: this is the least relaxing environment I have ever been in for a massage. I understood why they shushed us when we walked in; you can hear EVERYTHING throughout the entire spa. The walls do not reach the ceiling, the floors are extremely creaky, and there is not the slightest attempt at sound-muffling. You can hear the toilet flushing down the hall, you can hear every word whispered throughout all the rooms, every guest walking in, you can hear them walking past your room as the door rattles and you can feel their footsteps. It was so unintimate and distracting. It also was so so cold throughout the building. In summary: Not only was the atmosphere uncomfortable, unrelaxing distracting, and cold... the massages were bad, and the people working there were unprofessional.

Great place for a massage! Reasonably priced and an excellent massage. Crystal provides excellent pressure and always tailors the massage to any aches/pains complained of.

Tina was lovely and amazing. She left no stone unturned and I felt like a wonderful pile of mash potatoes after my massage. You NEED a massage here!

I was comparing different kind of spa and this one caught my eye with the reviews.. I did the Groupon couples massage and I have to say, it was the best and deep massage I ever had. I love the customer service and how quite it is.. I know I started snoring lol but that massage felt good. I will be going back with my husband.

I went to pure serenity spa and had a completely unacceptable and terrible experience. I checked in and waited around 15 mins until I started the massage. During the service the masseuse was weak and could hardly apply pressure. She did not use oil and i had to tell her to use the oil as she was just creating friction. Then, she kept sniffling and sneezed several times. She would wipe her nose with tissues WHILE massaging me and not wash her hands at all. It was absolutely disgusting. I had to leave the service early because I did not want to get sick. And the massage itself was terrible cause the masseuse was unable to apply any pressure and was just rubbing me. It was a horrible experience and I could not even stay for the entire duration

My massage experience was great! I also added on a cupping service which complemented the massage perfectly. It relieved so much stress and tension. I will absolutely be returning and will rate them as one of the best in Lincoln Park area.

Ok place, before the massage I tipped the lady $20 and thanked her ahead of time. The massage was ok could’ve been better, felt like she didn’t want to do it from the beginning so for me it was rushed. I usually go to massage envy but was given a gift card to here so i tried it out. My whole back was bruised for a few days. She used her elbows the whole massage it was like if she was trying to tell me Never Come Back Here. Well she accomplished it, i will not be returning, and i shouldn’t have tipped her that much

They took great care of my body (thank you Tina!) and the environment is the epitome of clean, calming and relaxing. Came for a couples massage, my partner and I agree it was one of the best massages we have ever had. The masseuse found the knots in my back and spent extra time and intention getting those out. As the other reviews mention, the walls don’t go all the way to the ceiling, but with the spa music I didn’t notice any other noises that took away from my experience! Overall would highly recommend this place!

I regularly return to Pure Serenity Spa. The Groupon special makes 90min massages affordable. Conveniently off the Armitage Brown/Purple stop. The masseuses always give me my full time (even when I come late).

It was decent spa but they lady was really rough. Had to tell her Multiple times to lighten up. Probably the worst massage I’ve ever gotten. I went for neck pain and left with back pain. Never again

Nice quiet environment, the 60mins couple a massage package from Groupon is super worth it! Highly recommend that, however I did pay extra for “cupping” that I wish I hadn’t. The cups popped off and kept putting them back one (usually that means they are done) I have super sore brushing that felt like popped blood vessels. with VERY dark bruises that lasted over a moth… Won’t be coming back.
